In cases of leukorrhea in women, if the pulse is rapid and deficient with accompanying heat, Qianjin San (Thousand Gold Powder) is suitable for administration.
Qianjin San (Thousand Gold Powder)
Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus, 1 liang), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens, 5 qian). Decoct with one zhong of wine until half a zhong remains, then take orally.
Leukorrhea can lead to infertility and requires urgent treatment. When Bian Que passed through Handan and learned that noble women were prevalent there, he specialized as a physician for leukorrhea. Red discharge indicates heat entering the Small Intestine; white discharge indicates heat entering the Large Intestine. Fundamentally, this arises from damp-heat accumulating in the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel), seeping into the Bladder, and exiting through the orifices of the Large and Small Intestines. The urinary tract discharges fluids dripping continuously, hence termed "white leukorrhea." Mild cases present with scant discharge; severe cases involve uncontrollable flow. Prolonged dripping depletes essence and blood, causing emaciation. Treatment should focus on raising Yang and nourishing Yin, so that clear and turbid qi separate naturally; tonifying Spleen and Stomach will eliminate damp-heat spontaneously. It is crucial to avoid rich flavors and tonify Yuan Yang (Original Yang), thereby stopping leukorrhea.
Empirical Formula for Red and White Leukorrhea
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, washed with wine), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens, washed with wine), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, stir-fried with wine), Baijiguanhuazi (Coronillae Spicae Semen), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, honey-roasted), Jianlianrou (Nelumbinis Plumula, heart removed), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (each 1 qian), Zhigancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle, 7 fen), Biandouhua (Flos Lablab Albus, stir-fried, 7 fen). (White agents treat white leukorrhea; red agents treat red leukorrhea.)
Decoct in water and take after meals. For thin individuals prone to heat, add Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, stir-fried with ginger juice), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried with wine), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma, processed with vinegar) (each 5 fen). For obese individuals prone to phlegm, add Nanting (Arisaematis Tuber, processed), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, soaked in rice wash water), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber, processed) (each 6 fen). For chronic persistent discharge, add Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 1 qian), Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus, 8 fen). For Qi deficiency, add Renshen (Panax Ginseng Radix, radix removed), Huangqi [implied missing character] (Astragali Radix, 7 fen). For red leukorrhea, add Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, stir-fried with wine, 1 qian), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba, 6 fen). For abdominal pain, add Wei Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum, one slice), or add Kuihua (Malvae Flor, five flowers, stir-fried further). (White agents treat white leukorrhea; red agents treat red leukorrhea.)
Thin individuals often suffer from blood deficiency generating heat, leading predominantly to red leukorrhea. Qingre Siwu Tang (Heat-Clearing Four Substances Decoction) combined with Sanbu Wan (Three Tonics Pill) is suitable.
