Due to the wet nurse consuming alcohol, wheat products, fried and roasted foods, leading to the accumulation of heat-toxin in her body, or because the infant wore clothes that had been heated by fire, the disease may manifest on the hands and feet, or on the head, face, chest, and back. This causes the infant to become irritable and stifled, with abdominal distension feeling like burning fire, and pain unbearable to describe. If the toxin enters the abdomen, it leads to death. Within the first week after birth, frequent bathing should be avoided; otherwise, damp-heat qi will stagnate and steam without dissipating, causing the disease. The skin lesions may appear in patches stained like rouge, accompanied by swelling and high fever. It is urgent to use the leech acupuncture method (Qizhen Fa) to survive. The treatment methods are attached below for reference, to be used only in extremely critical conditions, and must never be applied lightly.
Main Formula: Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus), Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu - ground separately), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix) (all in equal parts), Gancao (Licorice Root) (half dose). Add Zhuye (Bambusa Leaves), decoct in water, and take on an empty stomach. If the heat is extreme, add Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (remove after a short while), and add Maidong (Ophiopogonis Tuber) and Tianfen (Tianhuafen, Trichosanthis Radix).
Topical Application Formula: Dahuang powder (2 qian), Lvdoufen (Vigna radiata Powder), Jiangzhi (Zingiberis Recens Juice), Bohezhī (Menthae Haplocalycis Juice), mixed with honey, and applied to the affected area.
Another Prescription: Huashi (Talcum), Hanshui Shi (Lepidolite) (equal parts) ground into powder, mixed with water and applied. Or use Dahuang (1 qian), Tunxiao (Natrii Sulfas) (0.5 qian), applied topically.
Leech Acupuncture Method (Qizhen Fa): First, place a wet paper over the toxic swelling. Observe which point on the swelling dries first; this is the correct apex (pus head). Take a large brush tube, place it on the apex, insert one leech into the tube, and frequently pour cold water on it so that it sucks out the pus and blood, allowing the toxin to disperse naturally. If the toxin is severe, this can be repeated. If the toxin is not removed, fewer than one in ten will survive.
If bleeding does not stop: Apply Oujie ni (Lotus Node Mud). Alternatively, crush porcelain vessels and use the sharp edges to scrape out the evil blood, which is also effective.
Another Prescription: Zaoxintu (Furnax Cinerium) ground into fine powder, mixed with fresh well water and applied. Reapply when dry.
All these diseases arise from the stagnation of Qi and Blood, where accumulated heat qi takes advantage of this condition, thus condensing to form toxins. In the initial stage, if small bumps are slightly visible, immediately apply saliva (unspoken saliva) frequently, and they will subside.
If they do not recede, use Wanbing Jiedu Wan (Ten Thousand Diseases Detoxifying Pill) ground and applied to the affected area, and taken orally with wine-mixed preparation, yielding immediate effect. Huadu Dan (Detoxification Pill, see formula for Fetal Toxin): lick the pill with saliva onto the palm, rub repeatedly until it disperses.
Main Formula: Loulu (Euphorbiae Humifusae Radix), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Gancao (Licorice Root), Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) (each 2 qian), Bailian (Pardanthidis Bulbus) (7 qian), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (1 liang). Grind all into powder. Each time take 2 qian, decoct in water, and take orally.
Surrounding Formula (for applying to all types of swelling and toxins): Nanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma), Caowu (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix), Chixiaodou (Vigna umbellata Seed), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) (equal parts). Grind into powder. For red and swollen areas, mix with vinegar; for white and swollen areas, mix with ginger juice. Apply around the periphery of the affected area.
Jiedu Wan (Detoxifying Pill): Treats all types of sores, swellings, boils, and toxins in infants, Dan Du (erysipelas) wandering throughout the body, and residual toxins from sores and smallpox/rash.
Ingredients: Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba), Gancao (Licorice Root) (equal parts). Grind into powder, make pills with honey the size of a bullet. Take one pill each time, dissolve and swallow with Bohe Tang (Mint Decoction).
Qingjie Wan (Clearing and Resolving Pill): Treats accumulated heat in the five Zang organs of infants, toxic vapors attacking upwards, causing chest swelling and sore throat, ulcers and rashes on the head and face, dry lips, sores on the cheeks, convulsions with tidal fever, phlegm obstruction, Yangming Stomach Fire, thirst, and other syndromes.
Ingredients: Hanshui Shi (Lepidolite) (amount unspecified), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (water-ground, each 4 liang), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) (1 liang). Grind into extremely fine powder. Soak steamed bread dough in water, pound into paste, and make pills the size of a Chinese quince seed. Take one pill at a time, swallow with Mint Decoction.
Another Prescription: Da Zhike (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride) (one piece, remove pulp), grind flat on a stone. Surround with flour paste, stick it onto the boil. It will rupture spontaneously, drain all pus, and leave no scar.
Another Prescription: For soft boils that do not heal for a long time, use new brick powder mixed with vinegar and applied topically.
