Song of Acupoints on the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian
The Hand-Shaoyin Heart meridian originates at Jiquan (HT1), followed by Qingling (HT2), Shaohai (HT3), and Lingdao (HT4). Tongli (HT5), Yinxi (HT6), and Shenmen (HT7) are located below the palm, while Shaofu (HT8) and Shaochong (HT9) are at the edge of the little finger.
Jiquan (HT1)
Located in the inner arm, between the tendons in the axilla where the artery pulses, extending into the chest. Needle depth: 0.3 cun; Moxibustion: 7 moxa cones.
Indications: Fullness and pain in the heart and hypochondrium, cold and paralysis of the elbow and arm, inability to control the four limbs, dry heaving, irritability, thirst, and jaundice of the eyes.
Qingling (HT2)
Located 3 cun above the elbow; take the point with the arm extended and raised. Mr. Hua (Shou Shou) stated: From Jiquan, descend along the posterior medial border of the upper arm, running posterior to the Hand-Taiyin Lung and Hand-Jueyin Pericardium meridians, passing through Qingling. This point is not recorded in the *Jia Yi Jing*. Moxibustion: 3 moxa cones.
Indications: Headache, jaundice of the eyes, chills, hypochondriac pain, and inability to raise the shoulder and arm.
Shaohai (HT3) (Also known as Qujie)
Located in the depression posterior to the medial epicondyle of the humerus. Alternatively described as below the large bone on the medial side of the elbow, 0.5 cun from the end of the elbow, at the head of the transverse cubital crease; take the point with the elbow flexed towards the head. It is the He-Sea point (where the meridian qi deeply accumulates) of the Hand-Shaoyin meridian. Needle depth: 0.5 cun; Moxibustion: 3 moxa cones. Another view prohibits moxibustion.
Indications: Alternating chills and fever, toothache, dizziness, mania, epilepsy with baa-like sounds, vomiting of saliva and froth, stiff neck unable to turn back, headache due to wind, rebellious qi, scrofula (tuberculous lymphadenitis of the neck), pain and spasm in the elbow, arm, axilla, and hypochondrium preventing elevation.
