There are seventy-eight acupoints where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Channel originates: (A detailed examination of the following text in this chapter reveals a total of ninety-three points. Excluding fifteen points that overlap with the Du Mai and Shaoyang Gallbladder channels due to their floating Qi connecting with this channel, there are actually only seventy-eight points belonging to this channel. In recent times, it has been transmitted that the Foot-Taiyang channel has one hundred and twenty-six points on both sides combined. The numbers for other channels mentioned below also differ from current standards. This chapter specifically lists the points where the Qi of various channels originates and where they intersect with other channels, hence the term "Qifu" (Qi Gates). For detailed information on acupoints, one must refer to other chapters; this section is not exhaustive.) One point at each inner canthus of the eyebrows, (These are the Cuanzhu [BL-2] points of this channel.) From above the eyebrows entering the hairline up to the vertex, three and a half cun away, five rows laterally, with three cun between each row, ("Xiang" should be read as "Ding" [vertex]. Starting from the Qucha [EX-HN4] point entering the hairline above the eyebrows. Moving upward from Qucha to the Tongtian [BL-7] point at the center of the vertex, the distance is three and a half cun. The Baihui [DU-20] point of the Du Mai lies centrally between Tongtian and the midline. Baihui is the intersection of the Taiyang and Du Mai channels, so it is cited here as an example. With Baihui at the center, there are five points anteriorly and posteriorly, forming five rows laterally, hence "five rows laterally." From Baihui forward to Xinhui [DU-22] and backward to Jiangjian [DU-18], reaching the Shaoyang points on both sides, each spaced three cun apart, totaling twenty-five points (5x5), as described below.) The floating Qi on the skin surface comprises five rows, five points per row, totaling twenty-five points, ("Floating Qi" refers to the Qi floating on the vertex. There are five rows, five points each. Among these five rows, only the middle row belongs to the Taiyang channel. The middle row is the Du Mai, consisting of Xinhui [DU-22], Qian Ding [DU-21], Baihui [DU-20], Hou Ding [DU-19], and Jiangjian [DU-18], totaling five points. The next two rows belong to this channel (Foot-Taiyang), consisting of Wuchu [BL-3], Chengguang [BL-4], Tongtian [BL-7], Luoque [BL-8], and Yuzhen [BL-9], five points on each side. The outermost two rows belong to the Shaoyang channel, consisting of Linqi [GB-15], Mucuang [GB-16], Zhengying [GB-17], Chengling [GB-18], and Naokong [GB-19], five points on each side. Totaling twenty-five points. "Row" is pronounced "Hang".) One point on each side of the large tendon in the neck, (These are the Tianzhu [BL-10] points, one on each side.) One point on each side of the Fengfu [DU-16] point, (Fengfu is a Du Mai point. The points on each side are the Fengchi [GB-20] points of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Channel, one on each side. Note: These points have no direct connection to the Taiyang channel; their mention here implies an intersection of Qi. Subsequent similar cases follow this logic.) One point at each interspace of the twenty-one vertebral segments from the back below the neck to the sacrum and coccyx, (There are twenty-one vertebral segments, counting from the Dazhui [DU-14] point as the first segment down to the sacrum and coccyx, excluding the three cervical vertebrae. "Interspace" refers to the space between vertebral joints. Fifteen interspaces each have one point. According to the *Jia Yi Jing*, there are only fourteen points: Dazhu [BL-11], Fufen [BL-12], Pohu [BL-42], Shentang [BL-44], Gegan [BL-48], Hunmen [BL-47], Yanggang [BL-46], Yishe [BL-45], Weicang [BL-44 - *Note: Standard numbering varies, but names are preserved*], Huangmen [BL-52], Zhishi [BL-53], Baohuang [BL-54], and Zhibian [BL-54 - *Note: Standard numbering varies*]. Recently, the Gaohuang [BL-43] point was added, making it fifteen points; however, this point was not mentioned before the Jin Dynasty, and the original count was twenty-eight points on both sides.) Five Back-Shu points for each of the Five Zang organs, and six Back-Shu points for each of the Six Fu organs, (The Zang Back-Shu points are Feishu [BL-13], Xinshu [BL-15], Ganshu [BL-18], Pishu [BL-20], and Shenshu [BL-23]. The Fu Back-Shu points are Danshu [BL-19], Weishu [BL-21], Sanjiaoshu [BL-22], Dachangshu [BL-25], Xiaochangshu [BL-27], and Pangguangshu [BL-28]. Combined, the Zang and Fu Back-Shu points total twenty-two points on both sides.) Six Shu points each from Weizhong [BL-40] down to the lateral side of the little toe. (These are Weizhong [BL-40], Kunlun [BL-60], Jinggu [BL-64], Shugu [BL-65], Tonggu [BL-66], and Zhiyin [BL-67], totaling twelve points on both sides.)
There are sixty-two acupoints where the Qi of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Channel originates: (These include points originating from the Foot-Shaoyang channel and those related to its Qi from other channels, totaling sixty-two points.) One point at Xiaguan [ST-7], (A Stomach Channel point. Intersection of the Foot Shaoyang and Foot Yangming channels.) One point behind the Jiache [ST-6] point below the ear, (Jiache [ST-6] of the Foot-Yangming Stomach Channel, one on each side. The *Jingbie Chapter* states that the Foot-Shaoyang channel emerges from the jaw and chin, thus intersecting here.) One point at Quepen [ST-12], (A Stomach Channel point. All six Yang channels of the hand and foot emerge from this area.) One point at San Cun Xia [GB-22] three cun below the armpit, and one point at each of the eight interspaces from the hypochondrium to the costal margin, (San Cun Xia is Yuanye [GB-22]. From Yuanye down to the hypochondrium and eight interspaces of the costal margin, the points are Zhejin [GB-24], Tianchi [PC-1], Riyue [GB-24], Zhangmen [LR-13], Daichmai [GB-26], Wushu [GB-27], Weidao [GB-28], and Juliao [GB-29], totaling nine points including Yuanye, eighteen on both sides. Tianchi belongs to the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Channel, and Zhangmen belongs to the Foot-Jueyin Liver Channel, both being intersections of the Foot-Shaoyang channel. "Ye" is the same as "Ye" [armpit]. "Liao" is pronounced "Qu" or "Qu".) One point on each side of the hip pivot, (Huantiao [GB-30], one on each side.) Six Shu points each from below the knee to the second toe. (These are Yanglingquan [GB-34], Yangfu [GB-38], Qiuxu [GB-40], Zulinqi [GB-41], Xiaxi [GB-43], and Qiaoyin [GB-44], totaling twelve points on both sides.)

Xuanlu and Yangbai are both Gallbladder Channel points. Wang Shi says: Xuanlu is where Stomach channel Qi originates; Yangbai is the intersection of the Stomach and Yin Wei channels.) One point in each nasal bone hollow, (Sibai [ST-2], one on each side. "Qiu" is the same as "Quan" [cheekbone], pronounced "Qiu".) One point in the hollow of the Daying [ST-5] bone, (Daying [ST-5], one on each side.) One point at Renying [ST-9], (The Renying pulse is located here, two points on both sides.) One point in the hollow outside Quepen [ST-12], (Tianrong [SI-17] of the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Channel, one on each side.) One point in each intercostal space of the chest, (These are Qihu [ST-15], Kukong [ST-16], Wuyi [ST-17], Yingchuang [ST-18], Ruzhong [ST-17 - *Note: Ruzhong is ST-17, Kukong is ST-16, Wuyi is ST-17? Standard numbering: Qihu ST15, Kukong ST16, Wuyi ST17, Yingchuang ST18, Ruzhong ST17 is error in standard, Ruzhong is ST17, but text lists 6 points. Let's list names:* Qihu [ST-15], Kukong [ST-16], Wuyi [ST-17], Yingchuang [ST-18], Ruzhong [ST-17 - *Text likely implies Ruzhong ST17 and Rugen ST18?*], Rugen [ST-18]. Totaling twelve points on both sides.) Eight Shu points each from Sanli [ST-36] down to the middle toe, at the locations of the branch points. (These are Zusanli [ST-36], Shanglian [ST-34 - *Note: Text says Shanglian/Xialian which are LI points, but context is Stomach. Likely referring to branches or specific points. Text lists: Sanli, Shanglian, Xialian, JieXi, Chongyang, XianGu, Neiting, Lidui. These are mostly Stomach/Large Intestine. Stomach points: Zusanli ST36, Neiting ST44, Lidui ST45. Large Intestine: Shanglian LI10, Xialian LI11, JieXi ST41, Chongyang ST42, XianGu ST43. The text seems to mix channels or refer to specific branch paths. Translating as listed:* Zusanli [ST-36], Shanglian [LI-10], Xialian [LI-11], JieXi [ST-41], Chongyang [ST-42], XianGu [ST-43], Neiting [ST-44], Lidui [ST-45], totaling sixteen points on both sides. A branch of the Foot-Yangming channel emerges three cun below Shanglian and descends into the middle toe; another branch from the dorsum of the foot enters the big toe tip. Hence "locations of branch points." "Zhi" means to go/walk.)
There are thirty-six acupoints where the Qi of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Channel originates: One point at each inner canthus, (Jingming [BL-1] of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Channel, one on each side, an intersection of the Hand-Taiyang channel.) One point at each outer canthus, (Tongziliao [GB-1] of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Channel, one on each side, an intersection of the Hand-Taiyang channel.) One point at the shoulder joint, (Bingfeng [SI-12], one on each side.) One point three cun below the shoulder joint, (Tianzong [SI-11], one on each side.) Six Shu points each from the elbow down to the base of the little finger. (The channel starts at the finger tip, hence "base" six Shu points. These are Xiao Hai [SI-8], Yang Gu [SI-5], Wan Gu [SI-4], Hou Xi [SI-3], Qian Gu [SI-07 - *Note: Qian Gu is SI07*, and Shao Ze [SI-1], totaling twelve Shu points on both sides.)

One point in the interspace three cun below Jianzhen, (Referring to Jianliao [TE-14], Huizong [TE-6], and Xiaoluo [TE-11], six points on each side? *Text says "left and right each six points"*.) Six Shu points each from the elbow down to the base of the fourth finger. (These are Tianjing [TE-10], Zhigou [TE-6], Yangchi [TE-4], Zhongzhu [TE-3], Yemen [TE-2], and Guanchong [TE-1], totaling twelve points on both sides.)
There are twenty-eight acupoints where the Qi of the Du Mai originates: (Currently one more point is recognized.) Two points in the center of the neck, (Fengfu [DU-16] and Yamen [DU-15). Eight points in the midline behind the hairline, (From the anterior hairline to the posterior hairline, eight points in the midline: Shenting [DU-24], Shangxing [DU-23], Xinhui [DU-22], Qian Ding [DU-21], Baihui [DU-20], Hou Ding [DU-19], Jiangjian [DU-18], and Naohu [DU-17]. Five of these, including Xinhui, are repeated from the Foot-Taiyang section above.) Three points in the midline of the face, (Suliao [DU-27], Shuigou [DU-26], and Duanduan [DU-25). Fifteen points from Dazhui [DU-14] down to the sacrum/coccyx and sides. (These are Dazhui [DU-14], Taodao [DU-13], Shenzhu [DU-12], Shendao [DU-11], Lingtai [DU-10], Zhiyang [DU-9], Jinsuo [DU-8], Zhongshu [DU-7], Jizhong [DU-6], Xuanshu [DU-5], Mingmen [DU-4], Yangguan [DU-3], Yaoshu [DU-3 - *Note: Yaoshu is DU3*, Changqiang [DU-1], and Huiyang [BL-34]. Huiyang [BL-34] belongs to the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Channel and is on both sides of the sacrum, hence "and sides." Totaling sixteen points. Including Huiyang, the Du Mai has twenty-nine points in this section.) Twenty-one segments down to the sacrum, which is the method for calculating the spine. (This excludes the cervical vertebrae. Including the three cervical vertebrae, there are twenty-four segments in total. "Di" [sacrum] is pronounced "Di". "Zhui" [vertebra] is pronounced "Chui".)
There are twenty-eight acupoints where the Qi of the Ren Mai originates: (Currently one less point is recognized.) Two points in the center of the throat, (Lianquan [CV-23] and Tantu [CV-22). One point in each bony depression in the chest, referring to Xuanji [CV-21], Huagai [CV-20], Zigong [CV-19], Yutang [CV-18], Danzhong [CV-17], and Zhongting [CV-16], totaling six points.) One point each from three cun below Jiuwei [CV-15] at the stomach region, five cun below the stomach region, down to Henggu [CV-3] at six and a half cun. This is the method for abdominal meridians. (Jiuwei is the xiphoid process. "Stomach region" refers to Shangwan [CV-13]. From the xiphoid process to Shangwan is three cun, hence "three cun below Jiuwei at the stomach region." From the umbilicus to Shangwan is five cun, hence "five cun below the stomach region." This reflects inverted syntax in ancient texts. Also, from the umbilicus to Henggu is six and a half cun. The *Gudu Chapter* states: from the umbilicus to Tianshu is eight cun, and from Tianshu to Henggu is six and a half cun. This matches exactly. "One" means one point per cun. The total length here is fourteen and a half cun, hence fourteen points: Jiuwei [CV-15], Juque [CV-14], Shangwan [CV-13], Zhongwan [CV-12], Jianli [CV-11], Xiawan [CV-10], Shuifen [CV-9], Qizhong [CV-10 - *Note: Qizhong is CV10*, Yinjiao [CV-7], Qihai [CV-6], Dantian [CV-4 - *Note: Dantian is CV4*, Guanyuan [CV-4], Zhongji [CV-3], and Qugu [CV-2]. This is the method of the abdominal meridian.) One point at the Yin Bie, (Below Qugu [CV-2], the collateral branches between the two yin organs, an intersection of the Chong and Du Mai. Hence "Yin Bie." One refers to the Huiyin [CV-1] point.) One point under each eye, (Chengqi [ST-1] of the Foot-Yangming Stomach Channel, one on each side, an intersection of the Ren Mai.) One point on the lower lip, (Chengjiang [CV-24). One point at Yinjiao [CV-7 - *Note: Text says "Jiao", likely Yinjiao CV7 or similar intersection*]. (A Du Mai point, an intersection of the Ren Mai.)
There are twenty-two acupoints where the Qi of the Chong Mai originates: One point per inch from half cun outside Jiuwei [CV-15] to the umbilicus, (Umbilicus. "One per inch" means one point per inch: Youmen [KI-21], Tonggu [KI-20], Yindu [KI-19], Shiguan [KI-18], Shangqu [KI-17], and Huangshu [KI-16], totaling twelve points on both sides.) One point per inch from five fen lateral to the umbilicus down to Henggu [CV-3], which is the abdominal meridian method. (These are Zhongzhu [KI-15], Suifu [KI-14], Baomen [KI-13], Yinguang [KI-12], and Henggu [KI-11], totaling ten points on both sides. These are all Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Channel points, as the Chong Mai ascends alongside the Foot-Shaoyin channel.)
At the tongue base of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Channel, (The *Ci Nue Lun* states: the two vessels under the tongue are Lianquan [CV-23]. This refers to this point. Thus, although Lianquan is a Ren Mai point, it is actually where Kidney channel Qi originates, hence repeated.) One point at Jimai [LV-12] in the pubic hair of the Jueyin Liver Channel, (Jimai is in the pubic hair. It is verified by hernia pain radiating to the lower abdomen and testicles. It is where Jueyin channel Qi originates. Current acupuncture books like the *Jia Yi Jing* omit this point.) One point each for the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Channel, (Yinxi [HT-6], one on each side. *Text has missing character "Yin ", inferred as Yinxi*.) One point each for the Yin and Yang Qiao Mai, (The Yin Qiao point is Jiaoxin [KI-8] of the Foot-Shaoyin channel. The Yang Qiao point is Fuyang [BL-59] of the Foot-Taiyang channel.)
The acupoints where the Qi of the fishy eminences (Yu Ji) of the hands and feet originates totals three hundred and sixty-five points. ("Fishy eminences" implies multiple such areas on the hands and feet. The fleshy parts on both sides of the palms and soles are called "fish." Listing these emphasizes that the four limbs are the root of the twelve channels' Qi origin, serving as a general outline for all Qifu points. Summing the previous counts gives three hundred and eighty-six points. Excluding twelve repeated points leaves nine extra points, which is the number in this chapter. I observe: The *Qixue Lun* states there are three hundred and sixty-five Qixue points corresponding to the year, and the *Qifu Lun* also states three hundred and sixty-five. Since the number is higher, what does it correspond to? I have sought answers in the Heavenly Dao, and this corresponds to Humanity. Heavenly phenomena have vertical and horizontal, longitudinal and latitudinal lines. Longitude divides North-South, Latitude divides East-West. As for the year corresponding to Heaven, it specifically refers to latitude. However, the four cardinal directions and four corners of Heaven are everywhere this number. In humans, there are divisions into Qixue, Qifu, Sun Luo, Xigu, and Gudu, all corresponding without exception. This is the harmony of Heaven and Human numbers. Now, examining the Qixue count, it is three hundred and forty-two; the Qifu count is three hundred and eighty-six, totaling seven hundred and twenty-eight. Excluding twelve repeated Qifu points and two hundred and thirteen overlapping Qixue-Qifu points, five hundred and three points remain, which is the total of these two chapters. Upon detailed examination of the modern fourteen-channel acupoint atlas, the total is six hundred and sixty points. Thus, ancient and modern numbers do not fully match. Although later generations have made discoveries, omissions of ancient methods cannot be avoided.)
