This volume contains miscellaneous prescriptions. Generally speaking, Zhang Zhongjing's cases are numerous while his medications are few. If everyone could be regulated as correctly as Zhang Zhongjing, without variations arising, then the use of Mahuang Tang (Ephedra Decoction), Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction), and Qinglong Tang (Azure Dragon Decoction) would be more than sufficient. It is difficult to expect later generations to attain the level of the Sage. Many of Zhang Zhongjing's prescriptions are missing. As for conditions such as Yin Du Shanghan (Yin Toxin Cold Damage), Shixing Wenyi (Seasonal Warm Epidemic), Wendu (Warm Toxin), and Faban (Eruption of Spots), there are no complete prescription books. Now, I have collected contents from *Waitai Miyao* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold), *Qianjin Fang* (Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold), *Taiping Shenghui Fang* (Holy Grace Prescriptions of the Taiping Era), and *Jingui Yufan Jing* (Golden Cabinet Jade Box Classic) to supplement and complete them. There are over a hundred formulas in total. Cases are matched with formulas, and formulas are matched with diseases. Although these were not edited by Zhang Zhongjing, they are all ancient famous prescriptions. This is like the *Zhouyi Cantong Qi* or the *Huayan Helun*; although the steps and galloping may differ, they do not exceed the intent of the Sages. Moreover, secular learning has been prevalent for a long time; if it is suddenly abolished and all ancient methods are used, it would be like "Yangchun Baixue" (Spring Snow - a metaphor for high-brow art that few can appreciate), leading only to slander and destruction. This would effectively cut off treatment methods. Now, by categorizing them according to meridians, simplifying decoctions, and incorporating miscellaneous prescriptions, it is hoped that ordinary people can easily understand them. Through daily accumulation, the techniques of acrid-sweet dispersing and sour-bitter vomiting/purging will be implemented, and secular prescriptions will naturally fade away even without being abolished. This is my reason for including miscellaneous prescriptions. Furthermore, for prescriptions such as Wuji San (Five Accumulations Powder), Baidu San (Defeat Toxin Powder), Shengma Tang (Cimicifuga Decoction), and Weirui Tang (Polygonatum Decoction), even if they do not perfectly match the disease, their use may bring improvement and cause no harm. They are listed at the end of this volume for selection.

(Yin Du Gancao Tang) (7) Treats Shanghan developing into Yin Du (Yin Toxin) within 1-2 days of onset, characterized by constipation. Or, after taking medicine for 6-7 days up to 10 days, it transforms into Yin Du. Symptoms include heavy body, stiff back, colicky abdominal pain, difficulty in the throat, toxic vapors attacking the heart, hardness below the heart, shortness of breath, vomiting, cyanotic lips, black face, and cold limbs. The pulse is deep, fine, and rapid. Zhang Zhongjing said: This is the presentation of Yin Du. The body feels as if beaten with a stick, with throat pain. It is treatable within 5-6 days, but untreatable after 7 days.

Grind into fine powder. Make pills using wheat paste boiled in wine, sized like paulownia seeds. Take 30 pills at any time with ginger soup. Take frequently, two doses, followed by a cup of hot wine. Cover with thick clothing to induce sweat.
(Fan Yin Dan) (13) Treats Yin Du Shanghan with mental restlessness, headache, and cold extremities.
Liuhuang (Sulfur, 5 liang), Taiyin Xuanjing Shi (Calcitum Nigrum, 2 liang, ground separately), Xiaoshi (Natrii Nitras, 2 liang, ground separately), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, roasted, peeled, umbilicus removed), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, roasted, cracked, crushed), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex) - the above three in equal parts (0.5 liang each).
Use a raw iron pot. Spread half of the Xuanjing powder at the bottom, then half of the Xiaoshi powder, place Liuhuang powder in the middle, cover with remaining Xiaoshi powder, and seal with remaining Xuanjing powder. Cover with a small cup, burn with 3 jin of charcoal fire until properly processed, ensuring little smoke escapes. Quickly place a clay basin upside down on the ground, surround with ash, and cover to prevent smoke escape. Wait until cool, then grind finely into flour-like powder. Grind the other three ingredients into powder and mix uniformly with the previous mixture. Form pills with soft rice, sized like paulownia seeds. Take 15-20 pills per dose with mugwort decoction. Take frequently until sweat appears. For severe cases, take 30 pills. This formula is very effective; it stops panting and vomiting immediately upon ingestion. If symptoms persist after 3-5 doses, moxa one cun below the umbilicus. Moxa heavily, continuously day and night, regardless of the number of cones. Do not make cones too small, or they will lack efficacy. If hands and feet are cold and lower abdomen is hard, moxa three spots: one directly below the umbilicus and one on each side, one cun lateral to the midline below the umbilicus. Also administer Danggui Sini Tang (Angelica Decoction for Extremity Cold) and Fan Yin Dan frequently. Internal and external penetration is required for resolution. Delay leads to death. If Yin syndrome presents with urinary retention, retracted testicles, and severe lower abdominal colic, urgently moxa the Shimen (CV5) point, two cun below the umbilicus. Continue administering Fan Yin Dan and Danggui Sini Tang plus Wuzhuyu and Shengjiang Decoction. Do NOT use common diuretics. Common diuretics are often cold and slippery, which worsens this Yin Toxin condition caused by qi stagnation in the lower abdomen. Some physicians, seeing urinary retention, apply hot salt or heated packs to the lower abdomen hoping to promote urination. Since yin qi is trapped in the lower abdomen, applying heat causes it to rush upward to the heart, often resulting in death.
(Tianxiong San) (14) Treats Yin Du Shanghan with heavy body, stiff back, abdominal pain, throat obstruction, toxic vapors attacking the heart, hardness below the heart, shortness of breath, vomiting, cyanotic lips, black face, cold limbs, and deep, fine, rapid pulse.

Bind green onions (Cong Bai) into a rope-like bundle, cut off roots and leaves, keeping only the white part, about 2 cun long, forming a cake shape. Heat one side of the cake over fire until thoroughly hot but not burning. Place the hot side on the patient's navel extending downwards. Use a moxa iron filled with hot coals to press/hear the onion cake, driving the heat deeply into the muscles. Prepare 3-4 cakes; replace when one is damaged. After some time, the patient should gradually awaken, limbs warm, and sweating indicates recovery. Subsequently administer Sini Tang (Frigid Extremities Decoction) group to warm the interior. Historically, a patient with Shanghan was unconscious, limbs hard and cold as stone, unable to take oral medicine. This method cured him.
