Someone asked, "Who is that person, daring to engage in writing?" Upon hearing this for the first time, I was ashamed, covered my face, and withdrew. I then reproached myself, saying, "It is wrong, it is absurd; I almost abandoned the book!" However, a moment later, feeling that my heart was not entirely at ease, I repeatedly reviewed the texts and could not help but sigh deeply, saying, "Alas, these works originate from the profound thoughts and extreme discussions of former sages and worthies. I merely highlighted and elucidated them, extracting their key points and outlining their general principles. How dare I claim this as my own creation? I am moved by indignation towards those who drift with the tide in the world: unlearned and unskilled, they rudely and carelessly cope with worldly affairs, comparing themselves to Huangdi (Yellow Emperor) and Qibo, lightly handling matters of life and death, boasting with empty words, and elevating their status. Day after day, they are seen chasing fame and fortune; day after day, they are seen blindly rushing about; day after day, they wield blades to slaughter lives, yet painfully remain unaware of their actions. Why do people in the world become accustomed to this without scrutiny? If unpredictable disasters occur, they can only resign themselves to fate. Is this not truly painful and sorrowful? Therefore, I often thought of striking a morning bell to awaken the earth. Thus, I resolutely undertook the project of jointly publishing these two books, sparing no expense in selling property to hire craftsmen, and devoting myself with all possible effort. Fortunately, I invited like-minded individuals to assist in completing this task, leading me to adopt this perspective. Emulating the Buddhist and Daoist teachings on accumulating merit and benefiting others, I aim to spread this unique transmission far and wide, like a lamp in a dark room or a raft at a confusing ford. This way, the careless will not lightly take charge of others' lives, and those seeking healing will know how to distinguish truth from falsehood. If I do not express my humble desire to save beings and align myself with the Creator's virtue of cherishing life, there might be little benefit. Now that the printing is complete, I append a few words to reveal my intentions. Whether I am understood or blamed, it lies here! It lies here!"
