钥匙者，喻治咽喉功效之神也。自其风邪客于喉间，气郁为热，壅遏而为咽痛；自其火
邪生于肺胃，风毒结肿而为喉疼；自其肾虚于下，阳越于上而为咽痛；自其饮酒湿热，脾胃
湿热上攻而为咽痛，所因之邪不同，至其乘肺则一也；用马牙硝，为朴硝之精结于上，轻清
而味咸，热淫于内，治以咸寒，白僵蚕感清化之气，以去风痰，硼砂味苦咸，消上焦热痰，
清喉中肿痛，苏颂赞硼砂为治咽喉之要药。片脑大辛，入肺善走，散热破结，是药吹入喉
中，火散风消，立时痛缓。惟云治标，未及其本，亦救急之良法。
玄参一钱，升麻八分，白僵蚕一钱，鼠粘子（牛蒡子）一钱，连翘一钱，防风五分，黄芩六分，川黄连。
以上药材切碎，作为一剂服用，加水两钟，煎煮至八分满，稍热时含漱，不时细细咽下。陈仲淳治疗喉癣，加入贝母、天花粉。
对于咽喉各类病证，历代考证汤方，多用辛散和咸软之法，以祛风痰、解热毒，常采用含化咽津的方法，急于治标而缓于治本（阴）。
以上三味药，捣碎研成散剂，先含一口水，用药约一字量，吹入鼻中，随即吐掉口水，片刻后涎液流出，立即痊愈。《备急千金要方》记载用于缠喉风。
喉部是气的门户。上通肺气，若热邪闭阻于喉，肿胀环绕外部导致颈部肿大，或麻木或瘙痒，滴水难进。
马牙硝一两五钱，白僵蚕二钱五分，硼砂五钱，片脑（冰片）一字。
以上药物研为末，用纸管吹入五分药粉到喉中，即可痊愈。
“钥匙”二字，比喻治疗咽喉疾病功效神奇。如果是风邪客居于喉间，气机郁滞化为热邪，壅遏导致咽痛；如果是火邪生于肺胃，风毒结聚肿胀导致喉疼；如果是肾虚于下，阳气浮越于上导致咽痛；如果是饮酒导致湿热，脾胃湿热上攻导致咽痛，所感受的邪气不同，但都乘袭肺脏；使用马牙硝，它是朴硝在上方凝结的精品，性质轻清且味咸，热邪淫溢于内，用咸寒之品治疗；白僵蚕感应清化之气，用以去除风痰；硼砂味苦咸，能消除上焦热痰，清除喉中肿痛，苏颂称赞硼砂为治疗咽喉的要药。片脑大辛，入肺经善于走窜，散热破结，将此药吹入喉中，火热消散，风邪消除，疼痛立即缓解。只说是治标，未触及根本，也是救急的良好方法。
Scrophulariae Radix (Xuan Shen) 1 qian, Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Sheng Ma) 8 fen, Bombyx Batryticatus (Bai Jiang Can) 1 qian, Arctii Fructus (Niu Bang Zi) 1 qian, Forsythiae Fructus (Lian Qiao) 1 qian, Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fang Feng) 5 fen, Scutellariae Radix (Huang Qin) 6 fen, Coptidis Rhizoma (Chuan Lian Lian).
The above herbs are chopped and taken as one dose. Add two zhong of water, decoct until reduced to eight parts. Gargle while slightly warm, and swallow slowly from time to time. Chen Zhongchun treated throat lichen (Hou Xuan) by adding Fritillariae Bulbus (Bei Mu) and Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma (Tian Hua Fen).
Regarding various throat disorders, historical examination of decoctions reveals the frequent use of acrid-dispersing and salty-softening methods to dispel wind-phlegm and resolve heat-toxin. The method of gargling and swallowing saliva is often employed, prioritizing symptomatic relief (biao) over treating the root (yin).
Realgar (Xiong Huang), Zanthoxyli Fructus (Zhu Ya Zao Jia) (peeled and seeds removed), Veratri Rhizoma (Li Lu) (peeled, using the kernel), in equal proportions.
The above three substances are pounded and ground into a powder. First, hold a mouthful of water in the mouth. Take approximately one zi amount of the medicine and insufflate it into the nose. Immediately spit out the water. After a short while, when salivation occurs, recovery is immediate. Recorded in *Beiji Qianjin Yaofang* for strangling throat wind (Chan Hou Feng).
The throat is the gateway of qi. It connects upward with lung qi. If heat closes off the throat, swelling surrounds the exterior causing neck enlargement, accompanied by numbness or itching, making it difficult to even drink water.
Salpetre (Ma Ya Xiao) 1.5 liang, Bombyx Batryticatus (Bai Jiang Can) 2.5 qian, Borax (Peng Sha) 5 qian, Borneolum Syntheticum (Pian Nao) one zi.
The above medicines are powdered. Using a paper tube, insufflate five fen of the powder into the throat, and healing will occur immediately.
"Key" (Yao Chi) metaphorically describes the miraculous efficacy in treating throat diseases. If wind-pathogen lodges between the throat, qi stagnation transforms into heat, obstructing flow and causing sore throat; if fire-pathogen arises from the Lung and Stomach, wind-toxin knots and swells causing throat pain; if Kidney deficiency exists below, with Yang floating upward, it causes sore throat; if alcohol consumption leads to damp-heat, with Spleen-Stomach damp-heat attacking upward, it causes sore throat. Although the pathogenic factors differ, they all affect the Lung. Salpetre is used; it is the refined crystal of Mirabilite (Pu Xiao) formed in the upper body, light and clear in nature, and salty in taste. When heat invades internally, it is treated with salty-cold agents. Bombyx Batryticatus absorbs pure transforming qi to remove wind-phlegm. Borax is bitter and salty, eliminating upper-jiao heat-phlegm, clearing throat swelling and pain. Su Song praised Borax as an essential herb for treating the throat. Borneolum Syntheticum is highly acrid, enters the Lung meridian, and moves freely, dissipating heat and breaking knots. Insufflating this medicine into the throat disperses fire and eliminates wind, providing immediate pain relief. This approach addresses only the symptoms (biao), not the root cause, but remains an excellent emergency method.
