Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) 3 fen, Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus) 3 fen, Badou (Crotonis Fructus) 1 fen (remove skin and heart, roast until black, grind into a paste).
The above three ingredients are ground into powder [method], mixed with the Badou, and pounded again in a mortar [method]. Take with white rice water [administration]. For strong individuals, half a qianbi dose; for weak individuals, one cup [method] (Note: Textual anomaly detected, literal translation provided). If body heat and cutaneous pruritus (skin resembling gooseflesh) persist without relief, and there is a desire to pull clothes to cover oneself, washing with water will only cause the heat to be trapped and unable to exit. When sweating should occur but does not, irritability ensues. If sweating has already occurred but abdominal pain persists, administer Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) 3 liang, following the aforementioned method.
Baisan can also be taken for Jiechest (Chest Binding Syndrome). The principle remains that when water accumulates and exterior cold solidifies the surface, heat retreats inward; therefore, Jiegeng and Beimu are used to lift and open the lung qi, breaking up accumulation.
Maziren (Cannabis Fructus) 2 sheng, Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum) 1 jin (remove skin and tips), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) 8 liang, Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) 1 jin (remove skin), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex) 1 chi (roast and remove skin), Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) 8 liang (text missing unit, inferred).
The above six ingredients are ground into powder, refined honey is used to make pills the size of wutong seeds [method]. Take 10 pills with water [administration], twice daily [frequency]. Gradually increase the dosage until bowel movement is achieved as the limit.
The purgative method is not named Chengqi but Mahuren, clearly pointing to Pi Yue (Spleen Constraint), where spleen earth is excessively dry and stomach fluids are daily depleted. Thus, Maziren and Xingren moisten spleen dryness, Baishao soothes the spleen, guiding fluids downward.
Shuizhi (Hirudo) 30 pieces (roasted), Mengchong (Ophiorrhiza? No, *Buchanania* or *Tabanus* larva - WHO term: Tabani Larva/Mengchong) 30 pieces (roasted, remove wings and feet), Taoren (Persicae Semen) 30 pieces (remove skin and tips), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) 3 liang (remove skin, soak in wine).
The above four ingredients are ground into powder [method]. Boil in 5 sheng of water to obtain 3 sheng, strain off dregs [decoction method]. Take warm, 1 sheng [administration]. If no effect, take another dose.
Didang means "most appropriate." Xueyu (Blood Stasis) belongs to the category of dead yin, where true qi circulates within and does not enter the exterior. Therefore, herbal plants cannot alone treat this pathogen; it is necessary to use insect drugs to attack the blood stasis.
Shuizhi (Hirudo) 20 pieces, Mengchong (Tabani Larva) 20 pieces (remove wings and feet, roast), Taoren (Persicae Semen) 25 pieces, Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) 3 liang (remove skin).
The above four ingredients are pounded and divided into four pills. Boil one pill in 1 sheng of water [decoction method], take 7 he [administration]. At this time, blood should be discharged. If blood is not discharged,
When blood stasis accumulates in the lower abdomen, it must be attacked by Shuizhi and Mengchong to be most appropriate. Generally, formulas like Tao Ren Cheng Qi Tang are insufficient to move such blood, hence Zhongjing said:
