Nourishes blood, clears the heart, dispels wind.
[Meridian Tropism] Enters the Heart and Stomach meridians. It is an agent that clears heat. (Zhuye and Zhuru specifically treat irritability and heat in the Upper Jiao; Zhuli is the principal herb for treating Wind Stroke.)
[Preliminary Discussion] Wang Ji stated: Zhuru enters the Lung and Stomach meridians. It can open the stagnation of the Spleen and Stomach earth, and clear the dryness of the Lung metal. Zhuli enters the Liver meridian. It is slippery, penetrating, and moves through orifices. It can eliminate heat and wind. There is no case not caused by Yin deficiency with hyperactive fire, leading to the accumulation and knotting of phlegm-heat. If Yin is deficient, fire must be hyperactive, boiling body fluids, condensing them into phlegm, obstructing the meridians, resulting in hemiplegia and numbness. Zhuli can traverse all meridians, search out and eliminate all phlegm knots. When the meridians flow smoothly, the symptoms of Wind Stroke will naturally be eliminated. Li Shizhen said: Zhuli...
