Da Ma Feng (Giant Leprosy), She Pi Feng (Snake Skin Wind), Tuo Gen Feng (Heel-Stripping Wind), Yu Lin Feng (Fish Scale Wind), Xie Mei Feng (Evil Obscurity Wind), and Xue Feng (Blood Wind) all originate from the Heart Meridian.
Da Ma Feng (Giant Leprosy) is the leader among various wind diseases. In its initial stage, it manifests on the hands and body; pressing the skin feels as if separated by a layer of paper, accompanied by chills and numbness. When encountering rainy weather or at night, the muscles feel as if dripping with fluid, sometimes painful, sometimes itchy. Gradually, the skin and flesh become hard and stubborn, losing sensation even to cutting or gouging, while the body exhibits flaccid edema. This condition is prone to ulceration and perforation, leading to contracture of the hands and feet, foul odor, and flaccidity. It arises from indulgence and recklessness, failure to avoid wind, cold, summer-heat, and dampness, and disturbances from the six desires and seven emotions, causing Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi) to be deficient and Wei Qi (Defensive Qi) to be excessive. Pathogenic factors invade the muscles, causing stagnation and blockage of Qi and Blood. This condition is treated with Da Ma Tang (Cannabis Decoction) combined with Du Ming Dan (Life-Snatching Pill), Shen Huan Gu Dan (Divine Bone-Replacement Pill), Zhu Yun San (Pearl Cloud Powder), and Duo Ming Huan Zhen Dan (Life-Snatching True-Return Pill). Furthermore, severe Feng (Wind disease) initially presents with steaming heat in the body, Qi moving up and down from the chest, pain everywhere, heavy limbs preferring lying down, frequent belching and acid regurgitation, swelling of the face and body, intermittent symptoms, and over time, brain distension, cracking of flesh, pain in the eye connections, and aversion to human voices, which indicates a critical state.
She Pi Feng (Snake Skin Wind) begins between the arms and thighs, where the skin cracks open, resembling the pattern of a snake's belly, breaking off every inch, oozing blood and water, with intermittent pain or itching, spreading over the entire body. This condition progresses rapidly and is fierce; without immediate treatment and strict abstinence, fewer than one in ten can be saved. It is caused by a fierce and reckless temperament, excessive violence and arrogance, exposure to wind and dampness, accumulation that fails to disperse, offending the Heart Fire, burning the Lung orifices, damaging all five Zang organs, and depleting Yuan Qi (Original Qi). It is treated with Huo Long San (Fire Dragon Powder) and Qi Xiao Liang Dan (Miraculous Efficacy Good Pill), combined with strong tonic preparations taken in large doses urgently. If blind puncturing or fumigation is performed, death is inevitable.
Tuo Gen Feng (Heel-Stripping Wind) initially presents with blisters on the heels and below both ankles, or with fissures opening, small sores appearing, intermittent pain or itching, or swelling and stiffness. Over time, it ulcerates and spreads to the sole of the foot, commonly known as Cao Xie Feng (Straw Sandal Wind). It then extends to the tops and bottoms of the toes and within the toe webs, causing sores with pain, itching, and purulent erosion, commonly known as Yu Sai Feng (Fish Cheek Wind), which belongs to the same category. This differs from Lou Ti Feng (Hoof-Leaking Wind). This condition results from excessive alcohol and sexual activity, failure to avoid cold and dampness, damaging Qi and Blood; or in laborers, cold and dampness stagnate and transform into heat pathogens, causing Heart Fire to overflow and flow into the Liver and Kidney meridians, with Wind pathogenic toxins infusing the Zang and Fu organs. It is treated with Ku Shen Wan (Sophora Root Pill), Da Xiao Feng San (Great Wind-Expelling Powder), and Da Long San (Great Dragon Powder), with abstinence from alcohol and sex, and strong tonification of Qi and Blood to prevent the harm of Lou Ti Feng.
