[Xue Ji] The condition of "Fan Hua" (Flower-Flipping Wound) arises after the ulceration of a sore, where Wind-Cold pathogens invade the affected area, or Liver Fire causes Blood dryness generating Wind, or the nursing mother's Liver Fire generates Wind. This inevitably leads to protruding flesh from the wound opening, resembling mushrooms or fingers, varying in size and length. If caused by Wind pathogen invasion, first use Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Supplement the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) with Fang Feng (Saposhnikovia Root) and Tian Ma (Gastrodia Rhizome). If caused by stagnation of Wind-Cold, first use Shi Xuan San (Ten Acupoints Powder) with Qiang Huo (Notopterygium Rhizome) and Tian Ma (Gastrodia Rhizome). For infants with Liver Fire generating Wind, first use Jia Wei Xiao Yao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) with Tian Ma (Gastrodia Rhizome) and Qiang Huo (Notopterygium Rhizome). For nursing mothers with Liver Fire generating Wind, first use Jia Wei Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Modified Minor Bupleurum Decoction), followed by Jia Wei Xiao Yao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) with Lou Lu (Euphorbia Lathyris Root) and Tian Ma (Gastrodia Rhizome). For cases invaded by Wind pathogen, apply Dou Chi Bing (Fermented Soybean Cake) externally. For cases of Wind-Cold stagnation, apply Cong Yun Fa (Scallion Moxibustion/Warming Method) externally, and further protect the wound with Tai Yi Gao (Great One Ointment). If the protruding flesh does not subside, apply Li Lu Gao (Veratrum Ointment). If the wound fails to heal accompanied by aversion to cold and fever, this indicates deficiency of Yuan Qi (Original Qi); use Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Supplement the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction). If there is afternoon fever (Bu Re) and internal heat, this indicates deficiency of both Qi and Blood; use Ba Zhen Tang (Eight Treasure Decoction) with increased amounts of Ren Shen (Ginseng Root) and Huang Qi (Astragalus Root). If appetite is poor and digestion is difficult, this indicates Spleen Qi deficiency; use Wu Wei Yi Gong San (Five Ingredient Formula for Enhancing Capacity Powder). If there is little desire for food, irregular bowel movements, emaciation of muscles, and clear white urine, this involves Gan Pi Gan Syndrome (Liver-Spleen Malnutrition Syndrome); use Jiu Wei Lu Hui Wan (Nine-Ingredient Aloe Pill) to clear Liver Fire, and Wu Wei Yi Gong San (Five Ingredient Formula for Enhancing Capacity Powder) to tonify Spleen Qi, while continuing external warming treatments.
Li Lu Gao (Veratrum Ointment): Treats protruding flesh at the wound opening or flesh growing two to three cun long.
Li Lu (Veratri Viridis Rhizoma) (quantity as needed) is ground into powder and mixed with fresh pork lard by rubbing. Apply to the protruding flesh.
[Xue Ji] Duo Gu Ju (Multi-Bone Abscess) results from prolonged ulceration damaging the Spleen and Stomach, preventing Qi and Blood from nourishing the affected area. Pathogenic factors sink and invade; over time, tendons rot and bones decay, causing bone exfoliation. This is not due to congenital fetal toxins. Treatment should focus on tonifying the Spleen and Stomach and strengthening Yuan Qi (Original Qi). Internally, use Da Bu Tang (Great Tonification Decoction) and Di Huang Wan (Rehmannia Pill). Externally, use Fu Zi Bing (Aconite Cake) and Cong Yun Fa (Scallion Moxibustion/Warming Method) to dispel Cold pathogens and restore Yuan Qi, allowing the bone to naturally exfoliate and the wound to heal. Using harsh purgative or attacking agents will further damage True Qi, leading to critical danger. For infants suffering from this, the nursing mother should be regulated and tonified, and external Scallion Warming Method applied; recovery takes months or years. It is especially important not to use cauterizing or corrosive medications.
