*Kaiyian Yifang* (Supplement to the Essential Prescriptions from the Golden Cabinet) states: People often have flesh growth blocking the nose, causing discomfort in sleep and eating, finding relief only through nasal breathing. Although many folk prescriptions exist, none are effective. Only the *Bencao* (Materia Medica) states that Xionghuang (Realgar) treats nasal polyps, which is true. However, contemporary physicians do not know the proper method for using Realgar; they use it raw, leading to severe suffering or death. I once treated a patient who could not breathe due to nasal obstruction. I used calcined Realgar, administered daily in a quantity the size of a large date. After ten days, the fleshy blockage naturally expelled, allowing immediate breathing without recurrence. The method for calcining Realgar is detailed in the Immortal Elixir prescription within *Kaiyian Yifang*; one should seek it out as it yields miraculous results.
*Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) formula for pediatric nasal obstruction with polyps:
Ingredients: Tetrapanacis Medulla (Tetrapanax Pith), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Asarum Root and Rhizome) (each 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Crush these two ingredients into powder. Take an amount the size of a bean, wrap in cotton, and insert into the nose twice daily.
*Kaiyian Yifang* (Supplement to the Essential Prescriptions from the Golden Cabinet) formula for nasal polyps blocking the nose and preventing breathing:
Take Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Asarum Root and Rhizome), moisten with saliva, bend the head, and insert into the nose, placing more around the sides. Change ten times daily. After twenty days, use the following: Descurainiae Semen (Descurainia Seed), Usnea (Usnea Fiber) (each 1 liang, 0.5 liang respectively).
Crush and sieve these two ingredients. Wrap in cotton, forming a shape thin as a date pit, and insert into the nose. Change five to six times daily. After twenty days, select high-quality Wubai Fan (Alumen) (2 liang). Place inside a clay vessel, seal it, and fire in a kiln until the clay is fully fired. Remove, crush, and sieve. Mix with animal fat (mian zhi) to form a pill the size of a date pit, insert into the nose, changing five to six times daily. Use up the batch before mixing a new one; do not mix all at once. Recovery occurs after twenty days. Avoid strenuous activity, hot foods, garlic, and wheat products for one hundred days.
*Kaiyian Yifang* (Supplement to the Essential Prescriptions from the Golden Cabinet) formula for nasal polyps causing loss of smell:
