对于身体正常的成年人，如果认为是阴邪附着所致，询问时对方不肯说出所交之鬼怪的情状，其父亲于是询问跟随出来的童仆，童仆说有一天到了城隍庙，看见侍女用手在他身上抚摸很久，过了三五天就听说得了这种病，于是就让法师进入庙中，毁掉神像，发现小腹处的泥土都是湿的，这个人的病就好了。试看张仲景治疗下焦真阳与精血两虚，出现小腹部拘急紧绷，脉象芤动微紧，男子滑精，女子梦中性交的情况，则使用桂枝、龙骨之类的药物，以温补和固涩的方法治疗。如果是阳气浮越于上而不能下降，出现心悸、鼻衄，手足烦热，咽喉干燥口舌燥渴，阴气独居于内而导致里急腹中疼痛，梦中遗精的情况，用小建中汤调和，这些都可以作为效法的准则。医家的基本原则说：曾经治疗元气脱失不止的情况，如果用收敛固涩的药物来止住，往往不能收效也不能止住，不如清泻心火；如果清泻心火仍不能止住，不如使用升阳的药物，加入风药之类来止住。并不是靠这些药物直接止住，而是通过提升气机使其上升而不致下陷。

If Yang floats upward without descending, causing palpitations, epistaxis, heat in the hands and feet, dry throat and mouth, while Yin remains isolated internally leading to internal urgency, abdominal pain, and nocturnal seminal loss, Xiao Jianzhong Tang (Minor Construct the Middle Decoction) is used to harmonize; these cases serve as models for practice. The general principle of medical practice states: In cases of unremitting Qi collapse or essence leakage, using astringent agents to stop them often fails. It is better to clear Heart Fire; if clearing Heart Fire fails, it is better to use ascending Yang agents combined with Wind-dispelling herbs. This does not mean stopping directly via medication, but rather lifting the Qi so it rises instead of sinking.
