Mainly used for washing dog bite wounds, collect rainwater from under the eaves to wash, or drip water onto the eaves to moisten the soil, take this wet soil and apply it to the wound of the dog bite; it contains great toxicity, and accidental ingestion will surely cause malignant diseases.
Mainly used for chronic malignant sores that do not heal for a long time, boil the water until bubbling, add salt, and wash the affected area with it; within three to five applications, immediate effect is achieved.
Immortals used it in compounding medicines, as also recorded in *Bowuzhi* (Records of Various Things). Additionally, earthworms are broken open, mud removed, coated with salt, and they liquefy into water; it mainly treats epidemic febrile diseases, pediatric febrile diseases, epilepsy, and other ailments. New annotations state: applying it to erysipelas and dressing lac poisoning is effective.
Non-toxic. Mainly treats various gu poisons; one cup taken internally treats snake bites, and soaking the wound externally is also effective, all with verified efficacy.
Non-toxic. Mainly treats severe cases of Xiao Ke (Wasting and Thirsting Syndrome); take a small cupful to drink, without letting the patient know, and it will heal after three doses.
Salty and bitter in taste, with great toxicity. Mainly treats erosive tinea and psoriasis, insect bites, erosion of horses and cattle by insects, and venom from poisonous insects burrowing into flesh and laying eggs. If livestock drink one he (a unit of volume), they die immediately, and humans are similarly affected. This refers to the black liquid dripping from the trough when salt is first processed. It treats sores, but should not be applied externally if there is bleeding.
Toxic. Can induce Feng Wen (Wind-Warmth pathogen), painful Bi syndrome (obstruction), edema, yellow complexion, and abdominal distension. Initially located in the skin of hands and feet, it gradually enters the Six Fu Organs, causing difficulty in urination and defecation; then it invades the Five Zang Organs, worsening progressively. If it suddenly attacks the Heart, death occurs instantly, with rapid onset and no delay. Since it is a Yin disease, it is suitable to treat with Yin-natured living things such as pigs, fish, snails, and turtles. In spring, summer, and autumn, purgative methods are preferred; in winter, tonic medicines are appropriate. It is especially suitable to be soaked in wine and consumed, following the movement of Yin and Yang. In the past, Ma Yuan carried heavy loads of Coicis Semen (Job's Tears) during his southern campaign; Min Shu, while staying away from home, often ate pig liver, presumably to treat dampness diseases. Dewy air in rivers and lakes forms Zhang Qi (Miasma); water vapor between two mountains forms Nu Jie (Malaria), characterized by alternating cold and heat, agitating each other to form illness. These three diseases are all caused by Dampness, inducing chills and fever, wasting bone and muscle, particularly severe in southern regions. For medical treatment, careful analysis is required; broadly speaking, they all belong to the category of Miasma. People often treat them uniformly, which results in failure to heal.
