【白狗血】

味咸、酸，性温。主治安养五脏，补益绝伤，轻身益气。
臣禹锡等考证引用孟诜的说法：犬肉，助长性功能，补益血脉，增厚肠胃，充实下焦，填补精髓。不可烤着吃，恐怕会形成消渴症，只宜与五味调料一起煮，空腹食用。不与大蒜同食，否则必定损害人体。如果去除了血，则药效减少，无益于人。瘦的狗多有病，不堪食用。日华子说：犬肉，性暖，无毒。补胃气，壮阳，暖腰膝，补虚劳，益气力。
【屎中骨】
主治寒热，小儿惊痫。

[Musculus Penis Canis Masculini]
Taste: salty. Nature: neutral. Toxicity: non-toxic.
Indications: Treats internal injury (Shang Zhong), impotence (Yin Wei Bu Qi), causes the penis to become strong, hot, and enlarged, facilitates procreation, and eliminates twelve types of leukorrhea (Dai Xia) in women. Also known as Dog Essence (Gou Jing).
Collection: Harvest during the "Sanfu" days in the sixth month; dry in the shade for one hundred days.

Indications: Improves vision, treats scabbed ulcers and malignant sores.

Indications: Treats nasal sinusitis (Bi Yuan), nasal polyps. Meng Shen states: Dog gallbladder removes purulent discharge from the eyes. Additionally, white dog gallbladder combined with Tongsao (Akebiae Caulis) and Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) made into pills allows one to become invisible. Green dog gallbladder is especially effective.
Ri Hua Zi states: Dog gallbladder treats contusions with blood stasis, knife wounds, and arrow injuries.
[Heart]
Indications: Treats qi stagnation due to grief and indignation, expels evil pathogens.

Indications: Stops bleeding from metal wounds (Jin Chuang).

*Pharmacological Discourse* states: Dog skull bone serves as a harmonizing agent (Shi). Calcined into powder, it treats chronic dysentery and consumptive dysentery. Combined with Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) and Langdang (Hyoscyami Semen), charred until smoke appears, made into pills. Take ten pills fasting with plain water; extremely effective. Ri Hua Zi states: Skull bone ash also strengthens yang; yellow ones are superior.
[Four Hooves]
Indications: Decocted and drunk to promote lactation.

[Meat]
Taste: salty, sour. Nature: warm.
Indications: Calms the five zang organs, repairs severe injuries, lightens the body, and benefits qi.
Note by Minister Yu Xi et al.: Citing Meng Shen: Dog meat enhances sexual function, tonifies blood vessels, thickens the stomach and intestines, fills the lower jiao, and replenishes essence and marrow. Do not roast and eat, lest it cause Xiao Ke (wasting-thirst syndrome); boil with five flavors and eat fasting. Do not eat with garlic, or it will severely harm the person. If blood is removed, efficacy decreases and it becomes unbeneficial. Thin dogs are often diseased and unsuitable for eating. Ri Hua Zi states: Dog meat is warm, non-toxic. Tonifies stomach qi, strengthens yang, warms waist and knees, tonifies deficiency and fatigue, and benefits qi and strength.
[Bone within Feces]
Indications: Treats chills and fever, infantile convulsions and epilepsy.
Tao Hongjing states: White dogs and black dogs are used medicinally. White dog bone calcined into powder treats various sores and breast abscesses (Du Ru Yong). Yellow dog meat greatly tonifies deficiency but is inferior to male dogs. Male dogs refer to sires. Also called "Quan," referring to those having an extra dewclaw on the leg. White dog blood combined with white chicken meat, white goose liver, white sheep meat, black chicken meat, egg soup, etc., are all forbidden for patients. In spring, dogs have red eyes and dry noses. Those prone to mania should not eat dog. *Tang Ben Zhu* states: *Bie Lu* records that dog bone ash treats dysentery, generates flesh, and applies to horse sores. Black dog blood treats difficult labor with transverse presentation and blood rushing to the heart. Mandibular bone treats various pediatric epilepsies. Testicles treat twelve diseases in women, taken as ash. Hair treats difficult labor. White dog feces treat ding sores. Juice extracted with water treats various poisons that cannot be ingested orally.
Current verification of Chen Cangqi's *Bencao*: Dogs with true yellow color have warm-tonifying meat, suitable for waist and kidneys, and arouse yang. Bones boiled into porridge provide heat tonification, enabling women to conceive. Milk treats Qing Mang (green blindness). Take milk from white dogs when their pups' eyes are not yet open, drip into eyes to treat ten-year blindness; heals when the pup's eyes open. Gallbladder applied to malignant sores. Kidney treats postpartum renal fatigue resembling malaria. For women with heat constitution, use pig kidney; for cold constitution, use dog kidney. Liver and heart treat rabies bites, applied topically. Feces treat Biao Ju (deep-seated carbuncle) with bone-penetrating itch; burn to ash and apply, without letting the patient know. Also mix feces with lard from the twelfth lunar month to apply to sores. Apply to stream toxins and ding swellings to extract roots. Neck hair treats infant nocturnal crying. Store in a crimson pouch and tie to the infant's hands. Dog liver treats Hong Jiao (gouty arthritis) attacking the heart; take with ginger and vinegar; expect evacuation; if evacuation occurs first, do not take further. Note by Minister Yu Xi et al.: Citing *Medicine Pairs*: Bone within feces is neutral. Ri Hua Zi states: Yellow dog provides major tonification, others provide slight tonification. Ancient saying: Dioscorea is cool but tonifying; dog meat is warm but not tonifying. Although this saying exists, consumption is ultimately beneficial, yet due to foul odor, many refuse to eat it.

Treats five zang organs, repairs seven injuries and five labors, fills bone marrow, greatly benefits qi and strength. Eat fasting. Yellow males are superior; white and black are secondary. Pregnant women should not eat. Additionally, harvest gallbladder on Fu days, mix with wine and drink. Improves vision, removes eye pus. Treats malignant sores with itching; apply gallbladder juice to stop. Gallbladder applied to malignant sores breaks blood stasis. For internal injury due to trauma, take half with hot wine; blood stasis will pass. If bitten by a dog, crush raw Xingren (Prunus Armeniacae Semen) and apply; heals. Recently, removing blood before eating renders it unbeneficial. Fat dogs have fragrant blood, why remove it? After removal, it is ineffective. Dogs dying naturally with tongues out are harmful if eaten. Do not eat dog meat in the ninth month; it damages spirit.
*Sheng Hui Fang*: Treats itchy, urgent red and astringent eyes using dog gallbladder dripped into eyes. Another formula: Treats deep-rooted abscess (Fu Gu Ju) and fish-eye sore using smoke from burned dog heads. Another formula: Treats persistent red and white leukorrhea in women. Burn dog head to fine ash, take one qian bi with warm wine fasting and before meals.
*Wai Tai Mi Yao*: Formula for food poisoning causing abdominal masses and various toxic vapors: Burn five sheng of dog feces, powder it, wrap in silk, soak in five sheng of wine for two nights, take clear liquid. Divide into ten doses, twice daily, then three times daily until finished; the mass will exit according to what was consumed. Another formula: Treats lower back pain. Roast yellow dog skin, wrap around painful area until heat penetrates; frequent application heals. Same as Xu Boyu's formula. Another formula: Treats saddle sore. Apply mixture of dog tooth ash and vinegar. Another: On fifth day of fifth month, take musk dog feces, burn to ash, apply several times; good. Another: Miraculous for back carbuncle. Take half sheng of white musk dog feces, squeeze juice, divide into two doses, apply residue topically, twice daily until healed.
*Qian Jin Yi Fang*: Treats postpartal restlessness and inability to eat. Use only white dog bone, calcine and powder, take one cun bi with water.
Ge Shi Fang: Treats chronic dysentery lasting long periods, becoming residual dysentery. Roast dog bone until yellow and charred, powder, take one cun bi with water, three times daily; heals. Another: Treats sudden infantile epilepsy. Prick white dog blood, size of a date, hold in mouth. Also apply to body. Another: For mad dog bites, kill the biting dog, apply brain to wound; prevents recurrence.
*Bai Yi Fang*: Sudden onset like knife stabbing, twisting pain in chest, hypochondrium, and abdomen, unbearable pressure, possibly vomiting blood, epistaxis, or rectal bleeding. Also called Gui Pai. Cut off white dog head, take one sheng of hot blood, drink. Another: Sudden yin sores between legs. Apply white dog blood; heals immediately.
*Jing Yan Fang*: Treats unbearable qi and blood cramping. One black dog gallbladder, semi-dry, cut open, form pills size of mung bean using comb, coat with Ge Fen (Margarita Concha). Take five pills per dose, wash down with iron-quenched wine; pain stops immediately.
*Jing Yan Hou Fang*: Treats postpartum unstable blood flowing to limbs and miscarriage. Dog skull bone ash, take two qian bi with wine; very effective.
*Mei Shi Fang*: Poisoning from stagnant meat and leaking bread. Burn dog feces to powder, take one cun bi with wine. Same as *Sheng Hui Fang*. Another: Treats burns from hot oil/water/fire with unbearable pain. Finely chop dog hair, mix with melted glue, apply until scab falls and heals gradually.
*Shi Yi Xin Jing*: Treats cold-weak spleen/stomach, cold accumulation in intestines causing distension and stabbing pain. Half jin of fat dog meat, cook congee with rice, salt, and fermented soybeans; eat frequently for one or two meals. Another: Dysentery with cutting pain below navel. Wash one dog liver, slice finely, cook congee with one sheng of rice. Take three liang fasting with garlic; add pepper, green onion, salt, sauce as desired. Another: Treats edema and scanty urination. Steam five jin of fat dog meat thoroughly, eat fasting. Another: Treats qi-water drum distension and edema. One jin of dog meat, sliced finely, cook congee with rice. Eat fasting; making soup is also good.
*Zi Mu Mi Lu*: Treats child stuck with plum/peach pit. Boil dog head, make decoction, rub on head; heals.
Yang Shi Obstetrics states pregnant women must not eat dog meat, or the child will be mute.
Records of Wei: Daughter of Liu Xun, Governor of He Nei, suffered from itchy sore on left knee. Hua Tuo examined her, tied the hind legs of a dog so it could not walk, slit its belly, took the gallbladder, and held it to the sore. Soon, a worm like a snake emerged from the sore, three chi long.
