[White Liang Rice]
The flavor is sweet, the nature is slightly cold, and it is non-toxic. It primarily eliminates heat and benefits Qi.
Tao Hongjing stated: "It is grown everywhere today, but those from Zhugen in Xiangyang are of the best quality. Therefore, making millet-like porridge with it for summer meals can also eliminate heat." The *Xinxiu Bencao* annotation notes: "The ears of White Liang are large, with abundant and long hairs. All types of Liang are similar, but the grains of White Liang are coarse, flat, and long, unlike the round shape of millet (Shu). The rice is also white and large; when eaten, it is fragrant and delicious, second only to Yellow Liang. Tao mentioned 'Zhugen,' but Zhugen actually refers to Yellow Liang, not White Liang. Although Liang belongs to the category of millet, a detailed distinction shows they are different. Claiming it makes millet porridge is indeed inaccurate." Ministers Yu Xi and others followed Meng Shen's statement: "For patients suffering from stomach deficiency accompanied by vomiting of food and water, use two he of rice juice and one he of ginger juice, and take it. Its nature is slightly cold, eliminating pathogenic heat in the chest and diaphragm, regulating the Qi of the five Zang organs, and strengthening sinews and bones. This is what northerners eat long-term, and it can also be made into flour." The *Tujing Bencao* has detailed entries under the section for Green Liang Rice.
*Qianjin Fang*: Treats Huoluan (cholera-like syndrome) without vomiting. Take five he of White Liang rice and one sheng of water, mix them, and consume at once like porridge.
*Zhouhou Beiji Fang*: For sudden warts on hands and feet. Take Liang flour, fry it in an iron pan until red-hot, apply it to the affected area, and mix with saliva from multiple people to apply. Apply with a thickness of one cun, and it will disappear.
*Shiyi Xinjing*: Treats deficiency-heat, benefits Qi, harmonizes the middle Jiao, and stops thirst. Consume it as food.
[Yellow Liang Rice]
The flavor is sweet, the nature is neutral, and it is non-toxic. It primarily benefits Qi, harmonizes the middle Jiao, and stops diarrhea.
Tao Hongjing stated: "Yellow Liang comes from Qingzhou and Jizhou; it is not seen here." The *Xinxiu Bencao* annotation notes: "Yellow Liang comes from Shu and Han regions, and is also planted between Shangzhou and Zhezhou. Its ears are large with long hairs, and its grains and rice are coarser than White Liang, but the yield is low, and it is not resistant to drought or flood. When eaten, it is fragrant and delicious, surpassing other types of Liang, and people call it 'Zhugen Huang' (Bamboo Root Yellow). However, Tao's annotation for White Liang says: 'Those from Zhugen in Xiangyang.' This is actually Yellow Liang, not White Liang." Ministers Yu Xi and others followed Ri Hua Zi's statement: "Eliminates external wind pathogens, treats stubborn Bi syndrome (impediment syndrome)." The *Tujing Bencao* has detailed entries under the section for Green Liang Rice.
*Waitai Miyao*: For sores on the face and body of children that look like burns. Take one sheng of powder, mix with honey and water, and apply externally until healed. Another prescription: Treats Huoluan with irritability. Take half a sheng of Yellow Liang rice flour, add one and a half sheng of water, squeeze out the juice like a white drink, and consume at once. Glutinous rice is also acceptable.
*Zhouhou Beiji Fang*: Treats extreme thirst and desire to drink large amounts of water after Huoluan vomiting and diarrhea. Take one dou of water, boil down to three sheng of clear liquid, and drink slowly.
*Shiyi Xinjing*: Primarily benefits Qi, harmonizes the middle Jiao, stops dysentery and diarrhea, and removes diseases of the middle Jiao. Prepare it as food and drink.
*Bingbu Shouji*: Treats persistent erysipelas (red dan) in children. Mix Tu Fan Yellow Liang rice flour with egg white...
