Mainly treats blood wind disease (Blood Wind Disorder) and benefits women. Also known as Ma Ming Tui (Horse Cry Molt). In recent times, physicians mostly use mulberry paper (Can Ret Paper), whereas Eastern physicians use the skin shed by silkworms when they are about to sleep for their final molt. Although the uses of these two differ, the material used by Eastern people is considered authentic. It should be slightly stir-fried before use and can be made into pills or powders mixed with other herbs for oral administration. (Newly Determined)
Ji Yan Fang (Collection of Proven Prescriptions): Treats Chan Hou Feng (Entangling Throat Wind) and Hou Bi (Throat Obstruction), Ya Xuan (Gum Recession), Ya Yong (Tooth Abscess), Kou Chuang (Oral Ulcers), and Xiao Zou Ma Gan (Small Running Horse Gangrene). Take an appropriate amount of mulberry paper, burn it to ash while preserving its medicinal nature, add a small amount of Moschus (She Xiang), and apply it to the affected area for optimal results. Bai Yi Fang: For those suffering from manic episodes where they wish to run away, or who arrogantly claim to be gods due to high status, this medicine should always be prepared. Fire moxibustion treatment is required for permanent cure. If the patient is weeping and groaning in sorrow, this indicates possession by evil spirits. Burn mulberry paper to ash and administer with water or wine; the patient will recover. Used to treat Feng Dian (Wind Epilepsy).
Yan Yi Yue (Discourse on Meaning): Can Tui (Silkworm Molt) treats women's blood wind disorder; this refers to the skin shed during the silkworm's molting period. The mulberry paper is called Can Lian (Silkworm Connection) and is also burned to ash for use, specifically to treat women's blood discharge (Xue Lu).
A master suffered from rectal proluo (Tuo Gang). Burning the mulberry paper to powder, mixing it with pig fat, and applying it externally caused the prolapsed rectum to retract immediately. This snail (Luo) resembles a yellow land snail and prefers to climb mulberry leaves after light rain. Fan Wang suffered from rectal prolapse. Burning the snails found on green mulberry trees, mixing them with pig fat, and applying them externally caused immediate retraction; they could also be ground into powder for application.
Bai Jiang Can (White Stiff Silkworm)
Taste: Salty, Pungent. Nature: Neutral. Toxicity: Non-toxic. Main indications: Pediatric convulsions and night crying; expels three parasites; removes dark spots; improves complexion; treats Yin Yang (Genital Ulceration) in men; treats Beng Zhong (Metrorrhagia and Leukorrhea) with red and white discharge in women; treats residual pain postpartum; eliminates scars from various sores. Habitat: Plains and marshes in Yingchuan. Harvest in April from naturally dead silkworms; avoid moisture. Tao Hongjing stated: When people raise silkworms, if an entire frame dies stiffly, drying them in the sun prevents decay. Currently, small white ones that appear to have a saline coating are considered good. Grinding them into powder and applying them to Purslane (Ma Chi Xian) prevents horses from eating grass; wiping them off with mulberry leaves restores their appetite, indicating that silkworms belong to the horse category. Tang Ben Zhu noted: "Bie Lu" records that grinding them into powder and sealing boils helps expel the root toxin effectively. These white stiff dead silkworms are all white; Tao's description of a saline appearance is erroneous. Chen Yuxi et al. according to Shu Ben Tu Jing state: Use white stiff dead ones; both regenerated and first-generation varieties are used and are available everywhere. Yao Xing Lun states: Bai Jiang Can is incompatible with Sang Piao Xiao (Mantis Egg Case), Jie Geng (Platycodon Root), Fu Ling (Poria), Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood), and Bi Xie (Dioscorea Hypoglauca); it has slight toxicity. Treats trismus inducing sweating; main indication for women's Beng Zhong with continuous bleeding. Mixed in equal parts with Yi Zhong Bai Yu (Bookworm) and Ying Shi Bai (Eagle Droppings White), it treats sores and eliminates scars. Ri Hua Zi stated: Jiang Can treats stroke-induced aphonia and all wind diseases; pediatric Ke Wu (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome/Fright); male genital itching and pain; female leukorrhea. Remove silk threads and eggs completely before uniform stir-frying for medicinal use. Additionally: Can Yong Zi (Silkworm Pupae) eaten treats wind diseases and emaciation due to consumption. Ground and applied externally treats Can Lou (Silkworm Fistula) and malignant sores.
Tu Jing stated: Bai Jiang Can grows in plains and marshes of Yingchuan and is now found wherever silkworms are raised. Naturally stiff-dead, white, and straight ones are best. Harvest in April; avoid moisture, as dampness causes toxicity making them unusable. Remove silk threads and eggs before stir-frying. Current physicians use it to treat acute throat obstruction in stroke patients near death. Grind into fine powder, mix with fresh ginger juice, and administer orally; relief is immediate. Mixed in equal parts with bookworms and eagle droppings white, combined with flour paste for topical application on scars, it eliminates them.
Lei Gong stated: Before use, soak in rice washing water for one day until silkworm mucus floats on the surface like snail slime. Then drain and dry over low fire. Administer 5 fen bi with boiled water. Three times daily for ten days leads to recovery. Qian Jin Fang: Treats severe wind causing hemiplegia. Two shuo of Can Sha (Silkworm Frass), steamed thoroughly, placed in three straight bags holding seven dou each. Apply the hot bag to the affected area; replace with remaining bags as they cool, continuously throughout the day until cured. Additionally, stuff sheep stomach with glutinous rice, scallion whites, ginger, fermented soybeans, pepper, etc., stew until soft, eat hot. One per day for ten days then stop. Zhou Hou Fang: Highly effective for back sores. Prick the four sides with a needle, apply Bai Jiang Can powder mixed with water to draw out the toxin root. Jing Yan Hou Fang: Galactagogue: 2 qian of Bai Jiang Can powder taken with wine. Shortly after, take 1 qian of sesame tea hot. Comb hair dozens of times; milk flows like a spring. Dou Men Fang: Treats sudden headache. Grind Bai Jiang Can into powder, remove silk. Take 2 qian bi with warm water for immediate cure. Bo Ji Fang: Treats throat closure. Ru Sheng San Zi: Equal parts Bai Jiang Can and peeled Tian Nan Xing (Arisaema Rhizome), raw ground into powder. Take 1 zi per dose. Apply a small amount of fresh ginger only to the lips for immediate cure. Sheng Jin Fang: Treats wind phlegm. Seven straight Bai Jiang Can, finely ground. Mix with one cup of ginger juice and warm water for oral administration. Another prescription: Treats sudden onset of wind hemorrhoids characterized by swelling and pain that subsides spontaneously with irregular intervals. 2 liang of Bai Jiang Can, washed, cut, slightly yellowed, and powdered. Form pills the size of paulownia seeds using U Mei Rou (Dark Plum Flesh). Take 5 pills with ginger-honey soup on an empty stomach. Yang Shi Chan Ru: Treats Ye Huo Dan (Wild Fire Erysipelas). Bake from the back until yellow, grind finely. Take with wine for immediate cure. Another prescription: Mainly treats migraines, regular headaches, and brain-invading wind causing pain in both temples. Grind Bai Jiang Can finely, take 1 cun bi mixed with scallion tea. Xiao Er Gong Qi Fang: Treats generalized white oral ulcers in children and wind gangrene sores penetrating through. Grind 2 Bai Jiang Can into powder, mix with honey, and apply inside the child's lips and mouth for cure. Dou Men Fang: Treats melasma, improving complexion. Use any amount of Bai Jiang Can, stir-fry until yellow, grind finely, and apply externally for immediate healing. Another prescription: Treats acute throat obstruction in stroke patients near death. [Text missing/corrupted]. For uncontrollable bleeding: Equal parts Yi Zhong Bai Yu and Jiang Can, ground into powder. Take well-water morning dew, three times daily until cured. Another prescription: Treats stroke-induced aphonia, all wind diseases, pediatric fright, male genital itching/pain, and female leukorrhea. Grind 7 Bai Jiang Can into powder, take 1 cun bi mixed with wine for immediate effect.
Yan Yi Yue: Regarding Bai Jiang Can, silkworms molt two or three times; only the first molt (head fan) is best, being large without maggots. The silkworm moths come from the second molt, as they are more fertile.
