Mix *Chitongxue* (Red Copper Filings) with vinegar to a consistency similar to wheat flour dough, place in a bag. First, puncture the pulse point under the armpit to bleed, then apply the bag as a compress; this is highly effective for treating axillary osmidrosis (fox odor). Another method: Heat *Chitongxue* until extremely hot, pour into wine, take five *he* (approx. 100ml) per dose, three times daily; it treats *Zefeng* (pathogenic wind causing sudden spasms and limb reversal). Another method: Burn five *jin* (approx. 2.5kg) of red copper until red-hot, immerse it in two *dou* (approx. 20L) of wine one hundred times, consume similarly to decoction; it treats *Zefeng*, with verified efficacy.

Currently consulting Chen Cangqi's *Bencao*: *Chitongxue* treats fractures and trauma, capable of welding human bones and injured livestock bones. Grind finely, take warm with wine; the medicinal power reaches the affected area directly. After livestock die, examine their bones, and welding marks remain. Red copper is superior; annealed copper is unsuitable. (Originally attached to *Tang Ben Zhu*). Ministers Yuxi et al. respectfully note according to *Rihua Zi Bencao*: Copper filings are bitter, neutral, slightly toxic. They brighten the eyes, treat wind-eye diseases, set bones, weld teeth, and treat women's blood qi disorders and heart pain. It also states that copper vessels are neutral. They treat cholera with muscle cramps, pain in the kidney region and below the umbilicus (*Zhutong*). The method involves lining clothing or bedding, storing fire within, and applying heat compresses.

*Waitai Miyao*: Treats fox odor. Cui's Formula: Wash thoroughly with clear water, then wash again with clear vinegar solution. Gently rub until the skin is slightly broken. Take copper filings mixed with vinegar and apply. Another formula: *Chitongxue*, mixed with vinegar, stir-fried until extremely hot in a silver vessel. Wrap in cloth and apply heat compress to the armpits. Replace when cool; stop when healed. Very effective. *Taiqing Fuliang Lingsha Fa* states: Copper inherits the Yin Qi of the East (Yi), condensing to form its soul. Its nature is penetrating; ingestion damages the kidneys. *Chaoye Qianzai* records: Cui Wu from Dingzhou fell from a horse and fractured his leg. The physician instructed taking copper powder mixed with wine, after which he recovered. Over ten years later during exhumation, examination of his tibia fracture site showed copper binding the bone. *Danfang Jingyuan* states: Copper from Wuchang, if used for alchemy, does not crack when struck.

Ministers Yuxi et al. respectfully note according to *Yuebi Tongyong Yao*: *Xitongjingbi* (Tin-bronze mirror nose/rim) is neutral. It treats women's menstrual obstruction, *Zhijia* (masses), hidden intestinal issues, infertility, and latent corpse pathogenic qi. It grows in the valleys of Guiyang.

Tao Hongjing says: This substance is different from *Hufen* (Lead Carbonate), but listed together here because it is not used as a standalone medicine, thus attached to the Tin category. Anciently, mirrors were not made of pure copper but alloyed with tin. The "copper mirror rim" mentioned in *Bielu* refers to the rims of broken ancient bronze mirrors. When used, they should be heated red-hot and immersed in wine for drinking. If dipped in vinegar a hundred times, they can also be crushed. Lead and tin: *Benjing* states they grow in Guiyang, but currently they are produced in Linghe, still within the administrative division of Guiyang. Lead and tin look similar but have vastly different medicinal uses. *Tang Ben Zhu* notes: Those from Linghe are called lead, also known as white tin. Only this source supplies the whole country. Tin is found wherever silver is mined. Although similar, their medicinal uses differ greatly. Current inspection of another edition's note says: All mirrors use tin alloy; otherwise, they are not bright. Hence "tin-copper mirror rim." Those from Guangling are considered superior. Ministers Yuxi et al. respectfully note according to *Yaoxing Lun*: Copper mirror rim is slightly cold. It treats thirty-six types of postpartum residual rashes and stabbing pain. Take seven pieces, soak in vinegar, boil, and sip slowly. It can also be decocted with Danggui (Angelica Sinensis) and Shaoyao (Peony Root). *Yaojue* states: Mirror rim is sour, cold, non-toxic. *Rihua Zi Bencao* states: Ancient mirrors are neutral, slightly toxic. They repel all evil spirits, treat "ghost intercourse" in women, flying corpse and gu poison, pediatric convulsions, and insects entering ears/nose. Tapping nearby causes insects to exit. They also induce labor and treat acute heart pain, taken after quenching in wine.

*Tujing Bencao* has detailed entries under Lead and Tin.

*Shenghui Fang*: Treats pediatric sudden onset of *Kewu* (alien pathogenic influence). Heat the copper mirror rim until red-hot, quench in a small amount of wine, and administer a small dose to the child.
