Chuncui (Taenia saginata, Beef Tapeworm) is one of the Nine Worms. Generally, the Nine Worms reside within the human abdomen, dwelling between the intestines and stomach. If the Qi of the Zang-Fu organs is substantial, the worms remain inactive and do not harm the person. If the Qi is deficient, the worms become active and multiply, potentially leading to death.
It is also stated that drinking white wine, roasting beef skewered with mulberry branches for consumption, eating raw chestnuts and raw fish, along with consuming milk and cheese, can induce the generation of Chuncui worms.
Yinchou (Foul odor from the genitalia) arises from cold in the Zi Zang (uterus). The cold combats with body fluids, causing accumulation. When Qi rushes upward to the yin region, it transforms into a foul odor.
Blood tends to coagulate when exposed to cold and flow freely when exposed to heat. If exertion damages the meridians, resulting in blood deficiency, heat may penetrate the Bao (uterus/bladder area), causing hematuria (blood in urine).
Exertion damaging the meridians generates heat. Heat affects the blood; when blood is heated, it flows and scatters, penetrating into the large intestine, thus causing hematochezia (blood in stool).
The Kidney and Bladder are exterior-interior paired organs, and the Kidney stores Essence. If excessive labor injures the Bladder and damages Kidney Qi, both the interior and exterior become deficient. Unable to control and retain Essence, loss of essence (seminal emission or spermatorrhea) occurs.
The Foot-Yangming Meridian is the meridian of the Stomach. Its straight branch descends from Quepen (ST12) to the breast. Exertion causes the Cou Li (pores and interstitial spaces) to become deficient, allowing Wind pathogen to enter the Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive levels). This leads to stagnation and obstruction in Ying and Wei, preventing the smooth flow of Blood and Qi. Heat knots in the breast, causing swelling. If this knotting and swelling does not dissipate, an abscess (Yong) forms.
This condition often occurs shortly after childbirth, either because the infant has not suckled, or the milk has not been fully drained; or during weaning, improper milking techniques leave residual milk. All these factors cause milk to accumulate and knot, combusting with Blood and Qi. Symptoms include high fever, intense thirst with a desire to drink, firm and rigid pulling pain in the breast that cannot be touched by hand.
Upon initial sensation, one should manually assist in expressing the milk and have others help suckle and drain it. Otherwise, sores with pus will form. If the heat intensity is severe, an abscess will develop.
A swelling with thin, shiny skin indicates an abscess (Yong). The Foot-Yangming meridian has a branch descending from Quepen (ST12) to the breast. Exertion damages Blood and Qi, making the pulse deficient and the Cou Li vulnerable. Cold pathogens invade the meridians, combing with Blood, causing blood stasis and obstruction. Qi converges here, accumulating without dispersing, thus forming a knot that becomes an abscess. If the Qi of the abscess is not unblocked and combats with Blood, heat is generated. Severe heat affects the Blood, transforming it into pus. Alternatively, accumulated milk combats with Blood and Qi, generating heat through accumulation, which knots to form Breast Abscess (Ru Yong).
For those under forty years old, treatment usually results in recovery. For those over fifty, caution is advised; treatment is generally contraindicated as it often leads to death. Without treatment, the patient will eventually die of natural causes. Furthermore, breast abscesses occurring during pregnancy, or abscesses elsewhere on the body, are harmless. This is because abscesses during pregnancy originate in the Yangming Meridian, which belongs to the Stomach and governs the muscles, not injuring the Zang organs, hence no harm.
Palpating the Guan position on the right wrist: if the pulse is Deep (Chen), it indicates Yin syndrome; if Deficient (Xu), it indicates Breast Abscess (Ru Yong). If Breast Abscess persists and fails to heal, it may transform into a fistula (Lou).
The *Yangsheng Fang* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) states: After eating hot food and sweating, exposing the breasts to wind easily causes breast swelling, known as "Blown Milk" (Chui Ru), which frequently develops into an abscess.
