(Zhu Zhenheng's *Fuyu of Danxi Xinfa*) For sudden stroke with phlegm misting the mind, use this medicine blown into the nasal cavity.
*Zaojiao* (Gleditsiae Fructus Spina) and *Xixin* (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) in equal parts, ground into powder and blown into the nose.
*Xixian San* (Thin Saliva Powder) consists of *Zaojiao* (Gleditsiae Fructus Spina) and *Baifan* (Alumen). Alternatively, add *Lilu* (Veratri Nigrum Rhizoma) to induce mild emesis. (Do not cause severe vomiting; stop once the throat is unblocked and the patient can take liquid medicine. If all phlegm is aggressively purged, body fluids will be depleted failing to nourish the sinews, leading to spasms, hemiplegia, and atrophy; this is a contraindication.) When wind-stroke causes phlegm to rise leading to dizziness and collapse, one should first administer this formula to open the orifices. (*Baifan* [Alumen] is sour and bitter, capable of inducing emesis and draining turbidity; its salty taste can soften stubborn phlegm. *Zaojiao* [Gleditsiae Fructus Spina] is pungent, opening orifices, and salty, removing filth; it specifically controls Wind-Liver. *Lilu* [Veratri Nigrum Rhizoma] expels wind-phlegm and effectively reaches the vertex, inducing sneezing. This is like a surprise troop breaching the gates. When wind pathogens invade and phlegm is abundant, use this first to induce expectoration of thin saliva, then proceed with other medications.)
*Tongguan San* (Orifice-Opening Powder) uses *Xixin* (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) and *Zaojiao* (Gleditsiae Fructus Spina); blowing it into the nose to induce sneezing ensures survival. (If sneezing occurs, the condition is treatable; if no sneezing occurs, Lung Qi is exhausted, which is untreatable.)
(Wang Ang's *Yifang Jijie*, citing Zhang Zihe's formula) To vomit out malaria phlegm.
Add *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix), and *Lilu* (Veratri Nigrum Rhizoma) to *Xixian San* (Thin Saliva Powder).
(Wang Ang's *Yifang Jijie*) Treating Chanhou Feng (Entangling Throat Wind) with bi obstruction and locked jaw.
Remove *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) and *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix) from the previous formula, add *Xionghuang* (Realgar), grind into powder, and blow into the nose. (Alternatively, crush *Du Niuxi* [Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix] to extract juice and administer orally.)
The powder of *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) and *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix) vomits out malaria phlegm. (*Changshan* [Dichroae Radix] is effective in expelling malaria phlegm; combined with *Gancao* [Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma], its efficacy is more rapid.) *Lilu* (Veratri Nigrum Rhizoma), *Zaojiao* (Gleditsiae Fructus Spina), and *Baifan* (Alumen) are involved. If *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix) and *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) are removed and *Xionghuang* (Realgar) is added, (named *Rusheng San* [Like-Sage Powder]), it can induce emesis for throat wind with phlegm obstruction. (Throat wind presents with swelling and urgency, making it difficult to swallow liquids; one must first vomit out the phlegm, then proceed with other medications. My friend...)
(Zhang Jiebin's *Xin Fang Ba Zhen*) Substituting formulas such as *Gua Di Tang* (Melon Seed Decoction) and *San Sheng San* (Three Sage Powder).
Crush *Luobozi* (Raphani Semen), mix with warm water, stir, and slowly drink the clear decoction. After a short while, vomiting will occur. Even if some phlegm/food remains undischarged, it will likely move downward through the intestines. This new emetic formula is the most gentle. Crushing raw *Luobozi* (Raphani Semen) is suitable; mixing with warm water and drinking slowly allows upward expulsion while also guiding pathogens downward. (Note: Jingyue’s formula is suitable for any excess pathogen in the Upper Jiao, whether phlegm, food stagnation, or rebellious Qi causing obstruction. It is the safest method for emesis. However, there is a concern that it may not always induce immediate vomiting, requiring...)
