邱柳樊曰∶用二三寸真茄茸一两,以酒入瓦瓶,煮令皮脱,取出,将酒滤过。其茸之真膏,俱在此酒内;

Note: Removing Ginseng from this formula yields Qingdu Hexue Tang (Clear Toxins and Harmonize Blood Decoction), which treats toxin stagnation and blood coagulation preventing the formation of pustular fluid. For patients with robust physique and strong qi, remove Ginseng and [missing character]; for treating pox that fail to fill with pus on schedule, presenting as hard, dry, yellow, or dull gray/dark, increase the dosage of Zicao, Qin, and Lian, while removing Ginseng and [missing character]; for treating intense toxins and blood coagulation, where the pox halo is red-purple, or accompanied by dryness/withering and scabbing, all are effective.
Sanmiao Xue (Three Marvelous Bloods): Bai Xiongjiguan Xue (White Rooster Comb Blood), Zhuwei Xue (Pig Tail Blood), Qiuyin Xue (Earthworm Blood) each 1 spoon, taken with Chenjiu (Aged Wine) 1 cup mixed in.
Note: Ji Guan Xue (Rooster Comb Blood) is warm in nature, promotes pus formation, and raises exterior pathogens to treat upper conditions; Zhu Wei Xue (Pig Tail Blood) is moving in nature, invigorates blood, enters the interior to treat lower conditions; these two bloods have distinctions of upper/lower and exterior/interior; Xian Dilong Xue (Fresh Earthworm Blood) is cool in nature, invigorates blood, excels at unblocking collaterals, and can guide various herbs directly to break through areas where evil toxins gather. For treating pox at day 5-6, where the root turns purple from red and the top has holes like needle pricks or embedded tops, accompanied by fever, yellow tongue coating, thirst, and constipation, indicating intense toxic fire obscuring qi and stasis blocking blood, preventing pus formation, use this formula combined with detoxifying herbs such as Ji Jian Puji Xiaodu Yin (Modified Puji Detoxification Decoction) or Zhou Shi Wuwei Xiaodu Yin (Zhou’s Five-Ingredient Detoxification Decoction); if the pox root is purple, even turning black, with sunken tops, indicating toxin sinking, use Sanmiao Xue combined with Zixue (Purple Snow) and other herbs plus Jinzhi (Human Excrement Juice); if there is fever, constipation, embedded tops, purple roots, or blisters appearing with partial pus, puncture and remove blisters lacking pus, and use this formula added with Qi-moving and toxin-resolving drugs such as Yinhua Baidu San (Honeysuckle Detoxification Powder) or Renshen Baidu San (Ginseng Detoxification Powder).

Note: Nie Jiuwu formulated this decoction to greatly tonify qi and warm blood; it specifically treats pale pox due to deficiency and collapse of qi and blood, inability to form pus, as well as gray sinking and white sinking types. Taken warm for one to two doses, it rapidly induces pus formation, achieving swift results unmatched by others. If Deer Antler Blood Slices are considered too expensive, replace with 1 qian of Deer Antler Tip; Deer Antler Wine is even better.
Appendix: Method for Preparing Deer Antler Wine:
Qiu Liufan states: Take 1 liang of true deer antler (2-3 cun long), place in a clay bottle with wine, boil until the skin peels off, remove the antler, and filter the wine. The true essence of the antler remains in this wine. Refill the clay bottle with wine, boil until the skin rots, gradually adding more wine. When the skin is rotten, filter it through cloth, mash the skin, and dissolve it into the wine, removing the hair. Also, roast the bone inside the antler until charred and grind into powder. Combine the essence wine, skin wine, and bone powder together for use. This is a superb method for preparing antler wine, unknown to many who simply roast the antler, thereby losing the true essence and rendering it ineffective.

Divide into two or three doses according to the child's size. After administration, worms will soon enter the mouth. It is highly effective for treating pox obstructed by worms, preventing eruption. Follow up with Zicao Chengqi Tang (Lithospermum and Da Huang Decoction) to purge.

Form pills using rice vinegar, coat with gold foil, size of mung beans, dry between papers, store tightly in porcelain vessels in a high, dry place. For those over 20 years old, take 12 pills per dose; for robust constitutions, add 3 pills; reduce for elderly and children (7 or 5 pills for ages 2-3; 9 pills for ages 70-80). Take with warm boiled water. Within half a day or 1-2 shichen (hours), vomiting or diarrhea will occur. For pregnant women in emergencies, limit to 7 pills.
Note: In cases of latent warm-heat pathogens or cholera/shazhang (plague-like swelling), there are often concurrent conditions involving water retention, food stagnation, drink retention, or blood stasis, intertwining with pathogens and knotting in the chest and hypochondrium, similar to Food Knot Chest, Water Knot Chest, or Blood Knot Chest. Often caused by the interaction of latent pathogens and concurrent pathogens, resulting in pain unyielding to pressure, occasional dizziness/confusion. Although causes differ, the state of knotted pain, rejection of pressure, and obstruction preventing breathing is the same. Without careful examination and inquiry, one rarely fails to mistake this for inherent symptoms of the disease. If not first treated with emesis to remove them, the acquired pathogens will remain lodged and hidden, unable to penetrate and reach the surface, inevitably leading to premature death. Immediately administer one dose of Feima Jindan, which will naturally exert its emetic or purgative effects depending on the location of the knot. Once the concurrent pathogen is resolved, healthy qi naturally expands, making subsequent treatment of the primary condition easier. Thus, this pill treats various pathogens (water, food, phlegm, blood, cold, heat) knotting in the chest and diaphragm, causing protrusion, pain, distension, inability to press down, difficulty breathing, desire to vomit but unable, desire to defecate but unable. It is suitable for any external contraction or internal injury, sudden attacks of Feishi (flying corpse/pathogen), acute syncope, meridian disorders, falls, and impacts presenting with these symptoms, regardless of age.
Zhishi Daozhi Tang (Immature Bitter Orange Guiding Stagnation Decoction): Xiao Zhishi (Immature Bitter Orange) (1.5 qian) Zhi Chuanpu (Prepared Magnolia Bark) (1 qian) Jiu Xi Sheng Jinwen (Wine-washed Raw Rheum Palmatum) (8 fen) Xianluxia (Pinellia Prepared with Alumen) (1.5 qian) Jing Zhairou (Clean Hawthorn Flesh) (3 qian) Qing Lianqiao (Green Forsythia) (1.5 qian) Chuanlian (Coptis Rhizome) (4 fen) Hainanzi (Areca Seed) (1.5 qian) Lao Zicao (Old Lithospermum Root) (3 qian) Ximutong (Fine Akebia) (8 fen) Zhi Cao (Honey-fried Licorice) (5 fen)
Note: Sun Jikang says: Among practitioners, ignorance is most common in such cases; due to urgency in treating pox, they neglect interior stagnation. They do not know that the Stomach governs muscles; if the Stomach fails to disseminate and transform, muscles cannot relax naturally. Even with vigorous cooling and resolving, it becomes "ice-stagnation." This formula opens what needs opening, descends what needs descending, promoting natural ascending without forced stimulation. Therefore, it is extremely effective for treating tangible substances and intangible toxins lingering in the middle, obstructing the free flow of qi and blood.
Shen Rong Sheng Tang (Ginseng and Deer Antler Ascending Decoction): Biezhi Shen (Korean Ginseng) (5 qian) Zhi Mianhuang (Honey-fried Astragalus) (1 liang) Lurong Pian (Deer Antler Slices) (3 fen) Shengma (Cimicifuga Rhizome) (1 qian) Decoct, mix in 1 cup of aged wine before drinking.
Note: The life or death of pox is determined by the presence or absence of pus/fluid: With pus, toxins disperse externally, so survival; without pus, toxins attack internally, so death. Regarding the failure to form pus/fluid, there are two pathological mechanisms: First, intense toxic qi causes blood dryness and withering; second, deficiency of primal qi causes blood coldness and contraction. Neither can transform into pus; without pus, fluid does not flow, leading to the "Five Collapses" syndromes. If pox are dense, with red-purple halos and sunken tops, this is Purple Collapse. Severe cases show dry/withered halo bases and black umbilici, becoming Black Collapse. This is due to intense toxic heat obscuring qi and condensing blood, causing collapse. Urgently use Nie’s Qingdu Huoxue Tang (Clear Toxins and Invigorate Blood Decoction) and Wu’s Liangxue Jiedu Tang (Cool Blood and Detoxify Decoction) as main treatments. However, during Purple Collapse, one to two doses may raise the pox immediately; once Black Collapse occurs, toxin depth is severe, and even large doses only save one or two out of ten. If pox are dense, pale-white, with no red halo at roots and sunken tops, this is White Collapse. Severe cases turn Gray Collapse after one or two days. This is due to qi-blood deficiency and cold, failing to transform toxic qi into fluid, causing collapse. During White Collapse, vigorously tonify qi and blood, urgently using Nie’s Shengui Lurong Tang (Ginseng, Angelica, and Deer Antler Decoction) and Zhang’s Shenrong Sheng Tang (Ginseng, Deer Antler, and Ascending Decoction) as main treatments. Continuous intake of one to two doses offers hope for survival. Another type presents with bright red granules forming blood blisters instead of pus; this is qi deficiency failing to control blood, causing blood to rise to the qi position. Treatment requires Shenbao Yuantang (Ginseng Protecting Origin Decoction) to vigorously tonify qi; when qi is sufficient, toxins transform into pus. Neglecting blood blisters leads to further qi deficiency and Blood Collapse. Treatment methods remain within these two formulas. Having distinguished the Five Collapses, the methods for initial fluid generation, elongation, urging, and fullness can be inferred.
