1. The Master said: In the disease of Diejue (sprain of the foot with inability to extend), the patient can only move forward but not backward. Acupuncture should be performed at a depth of two cun. This is due to injury of the Taiyang Meridian (Taiyang channel syndrome).
2. If a patient frequently experiences swelling and trembling of the fingers and arms, and the body also exhibits tremors or shaking, Lizhu Gancao Tang (Licorice and Veratrum Decoction) is the primary treatment.

3. The disease of Zhuanjin (muscle spasm/cramp) manifests as stiffness and straightening of the arms and legs, with the pulse running vertically from the chi position to the cun position, slightly wiry. If the spasm extends upward into the abdomen, Jishibai San (Chicken Dropping White Powder) is the primary treatment.
Jishibai San Formula
Jishibai (White part of chicken droppings)
Take one ingredient, grind into powder. Take one fangcun bi (a square-inch measure) in volume, mix with six he (a liquid measure) of water, and take warm.
4. Yinhu Shanqi (Yin Fox Hernia) is characterized by asymmetry in size of the scrotum, with contents moving up and down intermittently. Zhizhu San (Spider Powder) is the primary treatment.
Zhizhu San Formula
Zhizhu (Spider, fourteen pieces, roasted until charred) Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, half liang)
Grind the above two ingredients into powder. Take one-eighth of a fangcun bi in volume, mix with water for oral administration, twice daily. It may also be formed into honey pills.
5. Question: How can the pulse differentiate abdominal pain caused by parasites? The Master said: Abdominal pain typically presents with a deep pulse. If the pulse is instead flooding and large, it indicates the presence of Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworms).
6. The disease of Hui Chong (Ascaridiasis) causes salivation, cardiac pain occurring intermittently, and does not respond to toxic antiparasitic drugs. Gancao Fenmi Tang (Licorice, Lead Carbonate, and Honey Decoction) is the primary treatment.
Gancao Fenmi Tang Formula
Gancao (Licorice Root, two liang) Fen (Lead Carbonate/White Lead Powder, one liang in weight) Mi (Honey, four liang)
Take three ingredients, add three sheng (liquid measure) of water. First decoct Gancao to obtain two sheng, filter out the dregs. Add Fen and Mi, stir and mix well, and simmer until the consistency resembles thin porridge. Take one sheng warm; discontinue when cured.
7. Hui Jue (Ascaridic Convulsion) involves vomiting roundworms. The patient alternates between quietness and occasional irritability. This is due to cold in the zang organs, causing the worms to ascend to the diaphragm, resulting in irritability, which ceases after a short while. If eating induces vomiting and renewed irritability, it is because the worms are attracted by the odor of food and emerge; the patient will likely vomit roundworms spontaneously.
8. Hui Jue is treated with Wumei Wan (Mume Pill).
Wumei Wan Formula
Wumei (Mume Fruit, three hundred pieces) Xixin (Asarum, six liang) Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, ten liang) Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, one jin) Danggui (Angelica Sinensis, four liang) Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root, six liang, processed) Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper, four liang, de-oiled) Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, six liang) Renshen (Ginseng) Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark, each six liang)
Process the above ten ingredients separately by pounding and sifting, then combine. Soak Wumei in vinegar overnight, remove pits, and steam over five sheng of rice. Once the rice is cooked, pound the fruit into a paste. Mix with the herbal powders until uniform. Place in a mortar, add honey, and pound two thousand times to form pills the size of wu zi (wu berry). Administer ten pills before meals with water, three times daily. Gradually increase to twenty pills. Avoid raw, cold, slippery, and strong-smelling foods.
