Acquisition method: Have the patient sit upright, bend the spine, extend both hands, and place the arms against the front of the knees, keeping them straight. Align the thumb with the knee cap. Support the elbow with an object to prevent arm movement. From the upper angle of the scapula, palpate down to the lower head of the bone. There should be four ribs and three intercostal spaces; moxa the middle space. From the inner side of the scapula, move about the width of a lateral finger away from the scapular border, palpate the empty space between the superficial ribs, and press. The patient should feel traction towards the center of the shoulder. Moxa one spot between the two scapulae, up to one hundred cones, or even three hundred cones. One should feel a gurgling sound like flowing water in the lower abdomen, and excretion may occur. If phlegm-disease is present, it will be expelled. If the patient cannot sit upright due to illness, have them lie on their side, pull the upper arm forward, acquire the point, and moxa. Alternatively, use the right hand to press from the left shoulder; the spot unreachable by the fingertips is the point. The same applies to the left side. Then moxa as described above. If the patient cannot sit for long, extend both arms and have someone pull the two scapulae apart. Otherwise, the scapular angle covers the void, and moxibustion will be ineffective. After this moxibustion, the body's Yang Qi becomes robust; nourish oneself appropriately according to condition.
