The pulses of the hands and feet all reflect the Qi of the Spleen and Stomach; the brilliance of the eyes connects with the Kidney to manifest Spirit. If hearing in both ears is balanced, it indicates harmonious Qi and Blood; one must understand that the principles of diagnosis for the upper and lower parts are distinct. If a child regains consciousness immediately after being startled, there is no major issue. When observing the middle finger's fingerprint (Zhongzhi Jianglai), one should look within the palm. If the cyan Qi is leisurely and the person remains alive, but the light in the eyes at the Mouth Pass (Kouguan) is lost, life will be difficult to save. Facial paralysis (deviation of mouth and eyes) is easy to treat; if there is no response in the four limbs, do not panic. A point at Tianxin can influence the Bladder Meridian; if Bladder Qi fails, pain becomes unbearable. If Dantian severs Kidney Qi, leading to urinary retention, the child's life will not be long. If the Tianhe River area shows widespread cyan patterns with clear water color, avoid black-and-white conflict under the eyes. Coldness in the palm is a sign of untreatability; numbness and coldness in the four limbs indicate certain death. Hardness of the genitals and cold breath determine coma; purple upward vein patterns are sought on the fingers. Genital hardness, coarse breath, or abnormalities in urination/defecation, along with yellow eyes and cold fingers, require regulation. The Kidney Meridian connects with the Liver, Gallbladder, and Kidney; alternating cold and heat cause suffering. The area above and below the umbilical wheel relies entirely on Fire (Mingmen Fire); eye rolling and limb convulsions can be calmed instantly. Hot breath from the mouth is unbearable, causing bystanders to sigh in sorrow. If tendons cross the transverse lines, the patient is easy to save; if located at Kan and Li (Heart-Kidney non-interaction), death is certain. Vomiting and diarrhea result from changes in the tendons; applying fire moxibustion to the Hengmen Four Boards raises Yang Qi. Differentiate high and low points at Tianxue, then roast on the snail shell bone. The nose connects to the Lung Meridian, with unknown degrees of association; a child dying of fright shows signs on the face. Excessive Fire injuring the meridian requires needling the Heart; yellow teeth and white mouth indicate damage to Mingmen (Gate of Life). Contraction of the throat by Heart Qi and panting indicate fatal signs. Nasal discharge, black lips, and absent pulse in the veins mean life is on the verge of a dream.
Regarding pediatric three-pass cyan patterns: Cyan corresponds to Gallbladder channel fright; Red corresponds to Water fright; Black corresponds to Human fright. If these pass through the three passes with pulse observation, it indicates Acute Fright Wind syndrome, which is fatal. Other symptoms can be inferred similarly.
Cyan at the Wind Pass resembling a fish spine is easy to treat, indicating initial fright; black color is difficult to treat. Cyan at the Qi Pass resembling a fish spine indicates Gan consumption with body heat, easy to treat using Babao Dan (Eight Treasures Pill), adding Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) and Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) per dose; black color is difficult to treat. Cyan at the Life Pass resembling a fish spine indicates deficiency wind pathogen attaching to the Spleen, using Zijin Ding (Purple Gold Tablet), adding Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) and Fu Ling (Poria) per dose.
Black-cyan at the Wind Pass resembling a hanging needle indicates Water fright, easy to treat. At the Qi Pass, it indicates Gan disease combined with Lung accumulation heat, using Baoming Dan (Life-Preserving Pill), adding Deng Xin Cao (Junci Medulla) and Zhu Ye (Bambusae Folium) per dose. Presence at the Life Pass indicates a fatal case.
Water-character pattern at the Wind Pass indicates phlegm above the diaphragm and deficiency accumulation stagnation, suitable for purgation. Water-character pattern at the Qi Pass indicates Fright Wind entering the Lung, with coughing and red face, using Tiqian Dan. Water-character pattern at the Life Pass indicates Fright Wind and Gan syndrome, severe fright, using Lushui Wan (Aloe Pill). Passing through all three passes with black color is untreatable.
Yi-character pattern at the Wind Pass indicates Liver Fright Wind. Yi-character pattern at the Qi Pass indicates Acute Fright Wind. Yi-character pattern at the Life Pass indicates Chronic Fright Spleen Wind. Cyan-black is difficult to treat.
Curved worm pattern at the Wind Pass indicates Gan disease and accumulation.
