Q: What is "Zhan" (Trembling/Shivering)?
A: Utilizing Qi to move upward or downward does not require "Zhan". If Blood and Qi are uneven, use the "Tan" (Plucking/Tapping) method. If "Zhan" is used, Qi moves like ants running, and the pulse may appear floating or... [Text incomplete]
Q: What is "Gua" (Scraping)?
A: To make Qi move upward or downward, use the "Gua" method. If there is concern that pathogenic factors reside within the skin, and these pathogenic factors travel with the healthy Qi, but the disease persists, the needle will feel tight... [Text incomplete]
Q: What is "Jin" (Advancing)?
A: Advancing after Qi arrival. For a three-cun filiform needle, insert two cun, leaving one cun outside. When Qi is sufficient, if the patient is deficient, advance another one cun, totaling three cuns inserted, before pausing for several breaths.
Q: What is "Jia Tui" (Adding and Retreating)?
A: Advance three fen; upon seeing blood, retreat five fen. In the Qi aspect, add advancement; in the Blood aspect, add retreat.
Q: What are Shun Ni Yao (Clockwise and Counter-clockwise Rocking) and Ni Yao?
A: Only after Qi has completed its course should Shun Ni Yao be used, to avoid causing chaotic movement of the patient's Qi and Blood. Without using the Vomiting method, Shun Ni Yao should not be used casually, as it may cause Qi to disorder the meridians, leading to fainting and unconsciousness.
Q: What is Heng Ni Yao (Horizontal and Counter-clockwise Rocking)?
A: After Qi is exhausted, if Heng Ni Yao is used, it disorders Qi and Blood in the meridians, causing dizziness and loss of consciousness. The Heng Ni Yao method can only be used if the Vomiting method is employed; it should not be used casually. If used improperly, causing meridian disorder and failure to regain consciousness, death is inevitable with no rescue possible.
Q: What is "Pan" (Coiling/Spinning)?
A: For men, first guide Qi along the meridians until arrival, then perform extension and lifting. If extension and lifting are performed, observing the needle rising, lift the skin slightly, by one or two fen. When Healthy Qi stabilizes, Pan can be used. There are two types of Pan, followed by three types of Shun Yao. Add three lifts, coil the needle left and right, add seven manipulations ("She"), allowing Qi to circulate freely. Perform three more lifts and seven manipulations. This cycle of Qi movement has a standard measure.
Kidney belongs to Water, governing the Gate of Life. Disease presents with emaciation, Qi deficiency, dizziness, shoulder and foot pain, tinnitus, dark cheeks, and thinness. Subsequently, pathogenic factors wander erratically.
