For diseases of the feet, select points on the upper body; for diseases of the head, select points on the lower body; for diseases on the left side, select points on the right side; for diseases on the right side, select points on the left side.
Zusanli (ST36) has two acupoints (left and right). In cases of Heat Syndrome with a surging pulse, apply the reducing method: perform lifting and thrusting several times, scraping, rubbing, twisting, and trembling twenty-one times (2x7), causing Qi to descend three to five times, and upward grasping/lifting several times. Do not moxa. In cases of Cold Syndrome with a faint pulse, apply the reinforcing method: scrape, rub, twist, then push and press several times, causing Qi to ascend several times, raise Yang several times, and moxa seven cones (zhuang).
Zusanli (ST36) is located below the knee, three cun beneath the kneecap, between the two tendons. Needling this point can treat abdominal distension and fullness, effectively treats cold in the stomach, borborygmus and accumulations, leg swelling, soreness of the knees and shins, emaciation due to overstrain, Qi Gu disease and various other ailments. After the age of thirty, needling or moxa at this point brightens the eyes. For left-sided paralysis and right-sided hemiplegia, wind disorders are often related to this point. When manipulating the acupoint, one must lift the foot to obtain Deqi correctly.
Neiting (ST44) has two acupoints. In cases of Heat Syndrome with a surging pulse, perform lifting and thrusting for the reducing method, scraping and trembling thirty-five times (5x7), searching and grasping several times, deep lifting and grasping, causing Qi to descend five to seven times. In cases of Heat Syndrome with a surging pulse, lift and scrape ten times, press, grasp, tremble, and reduce ten times, raise Yang, cause Qi to descend five to seven times. Do not moxa. In cases of Cold Syndrome with a faint pulse, rub and reinforce several times, press three times, twist three times, raise Yang, cause Qi to ascend three times, and moxa seven cones.
Huantiao (GB30) is located at the hip joint (bi shu). It is accessed with the patient lying on their side, bending the upper leg forward as straight extension is uncomfortable. It treats cold pain from toxic dog bites, Bi syndrome and numbness from damp-Bi, severe body pain as if struck by divine punishment, continuous low back and leg pain, difficulty extending and breathing. Whether needling or moxa, do not neglect this point.
Yanglingquan (GB34) has two acupoints. Yanglingquan (GB34) is located below the knee, one cun above the lateral malleolus. It treats difficulty flexing the knees, sitting and rising resembling a cold old man, inability to move the whole body, cold Bi syndrome and hemiplegia. A slight test needle reveals its unique efficacy. The Gallbladder and Liver are interior-exterior pairs, and their Qi flow attacks each other.
Tongli (HT5) has two acupoints. In cases of Heat Syndrome with a surging pulse, perform lifting and thrusting for the reducing method five times, rub, search, and grasp five to seven times, follow the meridian and lift, raise Yang, cause Qi to descend. Do not moxa. In cases of Cold Syndrome with a faint pulse, reinforce seven times, press and scrape seven times, raise Yang, cause Qi to ascend three times, then follow and press Qi three times, and moxa three cones.
Tongli (HT5) is located one cun proximal to the wrist crease. It treats frequent stretching and yawning, vexation with heart oppression, elbow and back/arm pain, redness of the head, cheeks, and jaws. Excess patterns manifest as limb swelling and throat closure with difficult breathing; deficiency patterns manifest as aphonia, bitter taste, and vomiting without restraint. Depth of insertion matters; its spiritual merit is distinct. The Shen (Spirit) governs this point, treating sudden aphonia.
Lieque (LU7) has two acupoints. In cases of Heat Syndrome with a surging pulse, lift seven times, search, grasp, follow the meridian and lift, cause Qi to descend, raise Yang three to five times. Do not moxa. In cases of Cold Syndrome with a faint pulse, press three times, rub three times, twist three times, scrape, raise Yang, cause Qi to ascend three times, and moxa three cones.

It treats hemiplegia from wind, intermittent numbness of half the body, complete weakness of elbows and wrists, trismus, cough with heat in the palms, worsening vomiting in cold malaria, excessive smiling with protruding lips, and persistent forgetfulness. Depth of insertion is key; skilled hands are praised. Retain needles during three exhalations; discharge via five inhalations is optimal. Among the Eleven Heavenly Stars acupoints, its dynamic application is unparalleled.
