(KT KT eyes, dim vision, amblyopia)
Shenshu (BL23), Pianli (SI6), Houding (GV19) treat KT KT eyes. (*Cuiren*) Cuanzhu (BL2) treats KT KT eyes and unclear vision. Redness in the eyes. (*Mingtang Jing* describes it as "hot" pain.) And eyelid twitching. It is also said that puncturing three times with a fine pricking needle will make the eyes very bright. Yanglao (SI6), Hegu (LI4), Qucha (GB7), (*Mingtang Jing* records the same), treat unclear vision. Jianzhongshu (BL18) treats chills and fever accompanied by unclear vision. Fengchi (GB20), (see Eye Pain section). Wuchu (GB13) treats unclear vision. Muchuang (GB16) treats sudden dizziness and blurred vision at a distance. It is also said that puncturing three times can treat unclear vision. Fuliou (KI7), (see Spine section). Ganshu (BL18) treats blackouts upon rising. (see Ke Ni/Coughing section). Touwei (ST8) treats hemianopia and unclear vision. Zusanli (ST36) treats unclear vision. For people over thirty years old, if Zusanli is not moxa-ed, it causes Qi to rush upward leading to clear vision; the following text says it leads to dim vision. Therefore, Zusanli has the function of descending Qi. Shuiquan (KI5) treats women with blackouts and inability to see far. Han'yan (GB15) treats blindness. (*Mingtang Jing* sees it in Wind-Dizziness section). Cuanzhu (BL2), (see Head Wind section). Shenshu (BL23), (see below Lao section). Kunlun (BL60) treats blackouts. Houding (GV19) treats unclear vision, aversion to wind and cold, and vertigo with headache. (Below) Ganshu (BL18) treats leukoma. (Same as Jiexi ST41). Shortness of breath, spitting blood, upward deviation of eyes, irritability, mania, epistaxis, blackouts. Xietang (EX-HN13) treats jaundice and blurred distant vision. Tianyou (TE16) primarily treats unclear vision. (*Qianjin Fang*) Tianzhu (BL10), Daodao (GV13), Kunlun (BL60) primarily treat unclear vision, sensation of eyes protruding like falling out. Chengqi (ST1) primarily treats unclear vision, tearing, vertigo and blurriness, itching of the pupil, blurred distant vision, inability to see in dusk and night. (*Jia Yi Jing*) Yangbai (GB14) primarily treats pain and itching of the pupil, blurred distant vision, inability to see in dusk and night. Shenshu (BL23), Weishu (BL21), Xinshu (BL15), Baihui (GV20), Neiguan (PC6), Fuliou (KI7), Daquan (EX-UE11), Wanggu (SI4), Zhongzhu (TE3), (*Mingtang Jing* records the same), Cuanzhu (BL2), Jingming (BL1), Weizhong (BL40), Kunlun (BL60), Tianzhu (BL10), Bingshen (GB13), Dazhu (BL11), Han'yan (GB15), Tonggu (BL65), Ququan (LR8), Houding (GV19), Sizhukong (SJ23) primarily treat blackouts and unclear vision, aversion to wind and cold. (*Qianjin Fang*) Fengchi (GB20) etc. primarily treat eye pain preventing vision. (see Eye Pain section). Liver deficiency causing unclear vision: moxa Ganshu (BL18) for two hundred moxibustion units. For children, adjust to one or two seven-unit moxibustions. Children's congenital blindness: moxa Jianzhongshu (BL18) twenty units each side. (*Mingtang Jing*)
*Qianjin Fang* warns against the causes of blindness: eating five pungent vegetables raw, immediately consuming hot food and drinks, excessive bleeding from head acupuncture, straining eyes to look far, reading/annotating books at night, long-term exposure to smoke and fire, incessant board games, reading after sunset, unceasing drinking, eating hot cooked meals and wheat noodles, copying manuscripts for many years, intricate carving work, excessive weeping, immoderate sexual activity, frequently looking directly at the sun and moon, reading under moonlight, viewing stars and moon at night, straining eyes to gaze at mountains, rivers, trees, and grass. (Eighteen items.) Also, galloping hunting, exposing oneself to wind and frost, chasing beasts against the wind, day and night without rest, are all causes of eye injury. Those who suffer from eye diseases due to excessive reading and board games are named "Liver Labor". If one wishes to cure it, one must close the eyes and not look for three years to recover. Merely draining the liver and performing various treatments will ultimately be ineffective. *Benshi Fang* states: The bitterness of reading harms the liver and damages the eyes, truly so. Fan Ning of the Jin Dynasty suffered from eye pain and sought a prescription from Zhang Zhan. Zhang Zhan jokingly said... Use reducing reading as one, reducing thinking/worry as two, focusing on inner vision as three, regulating external observation as four, rising early in the morning as five, sleeping early at night as six. These six items, decocted with Divine Fire, taken down with Qi, stored in the chest, after seven days, placed into the heart/mind. Cultivating them for a short time allows one to count their own eyelashes up close, and see beyond a chi-long stick from afar. Long-term continuous use allows one to see through walls. This not only brightens the eyes but also prolongs life. If practiced thus, it cannot be called mockery, but is indeed a miraculous prescription. Because its advice is reasonable, I record it fully to show future generations.
For dim vision, moxa Dazhui (GV14) for several segments, place moxa on the tenth vertebra aligned with the spine for two hundred units, more is better, most effective. (*Qianjin Fang*) *Mingtang Jing* says: For people over thirty, if Zusanli (ST36) is not moxa-ed, it causes Qi to rush upward leading to clear vision. (The following text says it leads to dim vision.)
*Qianjin Fang* states: Those suffering from eye diseases due to excessive reading and board games are named Liver Labor. To cure it, one must close the eyes and not look for three years to recover. Merely suffering from eye disease, staring day and night to remove dimness. Close eyes for a moment, then practice according to the method again. Accumulating effort allows seeing the finest hairs. Master Xu often suffered from eye disease, sat upright in a dark room, rotated his eyeballs eighty-one times, closed eyes to gather spirit, rotated again without counting, and divine light naturally appeared, resembling a golden wheel, permanently removing dimness. Master Shi recorded in his song: Rotating eyes removes dimness. (From *Baopuzi*). These are all methods of nourishment. If using medicine, then Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill), Yanggan Wan (Sheep Liver Pill), etc., or grinding Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) in equal parts into powder, decocting thick juice with snow water, washing frequently while hot is best. (See *Jixiao Fang*.)
Naokong (GB13) treats epilepsy drawing the eyes to the side. (see Brain Pain section.)
