*Guishubu* (Drynariae Rhizoma): Bitter in taste, warm in nature, non-toxic, enters the Kidney Meridian. It primarily treats traumatic injuries, promotes bone healing, dispels pain caused by toxic wind, strengthens teeth, treats ulcerative sores, and kills various parasites.
Processing method: Remove fine hairs and crush, mix with honey, steam, dry in the sun, and use.
Note: *Guishubu* is warm and directs downward, specifically entering the Kidney system to regulate bone diseases. Teeth are considered the surplus of bones; therefore, it can strengthen them. The reason it can kill parasites is likely because parasites thrive in dampness; by dispelling toxic wind, it destroys their nests, making survival impossible.
Leigong states: Upon collection, first use a copper knife to scrape off all yellow-red hairs on the surface until clean, then finely cut. Mix with honey to moisten, place in a willow-wood steamer, steam for one day, take out, expose to sunlight to dry, and use. This ensures stable efficacy. *Mingyi Bielu* records: After removing fine hairs and cutting finely, mix with raw honey and steam from Si hour to Hai hour (approx. 6 hours), then dry in the sun as before, crush, and use. Processed Pig Kidney eaten on an empty stomach treats tinnitus and also stops various miscellaneous pains.
*Weilingxian* (Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma): Bitter in taste, warm in nature, non-toxic, enters the Twelve Meridians. It primarily treats various wind pathogens, unblocks the Five Zang organs, removes cold stagnation in the abdomen, phlegm-fluid retention in the chest and heart, long-standing masses and lumps (Zhengji), evil water in the bladder, cold pain in the waist and knees, swelling and fullness in both feet, and also treats traumatic injuries. Contraindicated with wheat products, strong tea, beef, and cow's milk. Collection is best done where no flowing water sound is heard; those with iron-colored stems are superior.
Note: *Weilingxian* can ascend and descend, belonging to Yang within Yin, thus penetrating all meridians without obstruction. Zhu Danxi stated: Its flavor is pure and harmonious, thus having many effects on the Liver; it is a key herb for treating gouty arthritis. Its nature is agile and moving; excessive use depletes the True Qi of the Five Zang organs. However, pain caused by wind-dampness infiltration cannot be removed without this herb. Cease use once the disease is cured; it should not be used excessively.
*Niuxi* (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix): Bitter and sour in taste, neutral in nature, non-toxic, enters the Kidney Meridian. It tonifies Essence and Qi, benefits the waist and knees, fills the marrow, clears nasal discharge (Nao Lou), dispels cold-dampness, breaks blood stasis, regulates menstruation, induces abortion, regulates delayed or difficult bladder Qi transformation, and treats severe pain in the genital region. Processing method: Remove the rhizome head (Lu), soak in wine for one night, and use. It is incompatible with Tortoise Shell (*Guijia*), Firefly (*Yinghuo*), and *Luying*; it fears *Baiqian* and *Baixianpi*. Contraindicated with beef.
Note: Zhu Danxi stated: *Niuxi* guides other herbs downward and is suitable for entering the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian to treat various diseases. For women, it enters the Sea of Blood, thus having merit in promoting blood circulation. However, it is not suitable for those with Spleen deficiency with Qi sinking, or swelling in the legs and knees. There are two types: *Tu Niuxi* has thin endowment, is short and thin, and mainly breaks blood; *Chuan Niuxi* has better endowment...
Leigong states: When using, remove the head and dust, soak overnight in the natural juice of *Huangjing*, drain, finely cut, bake dry, and use.
