人有腹中痛甚，手不可按，而右足屈而不伸者，人以为腹中火盛而存食也，谁知是大肠生痈乎？夫腹痛而
足不能伸者，俱是肠内生痈，而大肠生痈，则足尤不能伸也。惟是大肠生痈，亦自有故，无不成于火，火盛而
不散，则郁结而成痈矣。然火之有余，实本于水之不足。水衰则火旺，火旺而无制，乃养成其毒而不可解。治
之法，必须壮水以制火，则毒消而痈愈矣。方用清肠饮∶
元参（一两） 地榆（一两） 麦冬（一两） 金银花（三两） 当归（二两） 甘草（三钱） 薏苡仁
（五钱） 黄芩（二钱）
水煎服，一剂而痛少止，二剂而足可伸，再二剂而毒尽消矣。此方纯是润肠之品，又是活血解毒之味，虽
泄火而实滋阴，所以相济而相成，取效如神耳。倘不益阴以润肠，而惟攻毒以降火，则大肠先损，又何能胜火
毒之凌烁哉？勿怪愈治而愈不效也。
秘诀∶
清肠饮药治肠痈，元参一两榆麦冬，
银三归二草三钱，薏五芩二四剂从。
本症用两间汤亦佳∶
玉米（二两） 当归（二两） 槐花（三钱） 天花粉（三钱） 锦地罗（一两） 地丁（五钱） 甘草
（八钱）
水煎服，一剂减，二剂愈。
秘诀∶
两间汤用玉米归，槐粉三钱一两锦，
地丁五钱八钱草，二剂神妙去其根。
又方∶

秘诀∶
救胃参两二两当，生地甘罗五钱襄，
榆粉三钱黄芩二，一剂能食否不详。

此方全在救胃，而败毒祛脓已在其中矣。妙在金银花虽是治毒之品，而仍乃滋阴之药，为疮家夺命之将军，
乃至仁至勇之师，又得参术以助其力，则散毒尤神。山羊血止血消浊，且善通气，引诸药直入痈以解散之，
乃向导之智者也。合而治之，则调合有人，抚绥有人，攻剿有人，安得不奏功如神乎？自然胃气大开，化精微
而输于大肠也。倘胃气未伤，服之尤奏功如响，万勿疑畏而不敢用，枉人性命耳。
秘诀∶
肠痈溃烂便脓血，参玉术药元两接，
甘草三钱银四两，临服冲入山羊血。

餍足而重苏，正不必治痈，而惟补气，气血足而肌肉自生矣。方用加味六味地黄汤∶
山药（八钱） 山萸（八钱） 生地（二两） 黄 （一两）
泽泻（一钱） 人参（一两） 麦冬（一两） 茯苓（三钱） 丹皮（六钱）
水煎服，连服数剂，腹痛止而精神健，则愈矣。此方六味以补肾水，加入参、麦、 以补脾胃之土，土
旺而肺气自旺。肺与大肠相表里，且又为肾之母，自然子母相需，表里相应，故奏功如神也。
秘诀∶
加味六味山山地， 泽参麦苓丹皮，
连服四剂腹痛止，精神而健则愈矣。
方用加味壮水汤亦治之∶
元参（二两） 生地（二两） 麦冬（一两） 甘菊花（一两） 山萸（一两） 蒲公英（五钱） 五味
子（二钱） 贝母（二钱）
水煎服，再剂去蒲公英、元参，加茯苓五钱、人参五钱。
秘诀∶
加味壮水二元地，麦菊山萸一两备，
蒲公五钱味贝二，再去英元苓参配。
一个人如果腹部剧烈疼痛，手不能触碰，且右腿弯曲无法伸直，人们通常认为是腹中火气旺盛且有积食。但谁能想到这是大肠生痈呢？凡是腹痛且腿部无法伸直的，都是肠道内部生了痈肿；如果是大肠生痈，那么腿部就尤其无法伸直。然而，大肠生痈也是有原因的，没有不是由火邪引起的，火气旺盛而不消散，就会郁结形成痈肿。但是，火气的有余，实际上根本在于水液的不足。肾水衰退则心火亢盛，火气亢盛而没有制约，就会养成毒邪而难以化解。治疗的方法，必须通过滋补肾水来制约心火，这样毒邪消除，痈肿也就痊愈了。方剂使用清肠饮：
元参（一两） 地榆（一两） 麦冬（一两） 金银花（三两） 当归（二两） 甘草（三钱） 薏苡仁（五钱） 黄芩（二钱）
用水煎服，服用一剂后疼痛稍微停止，服用两剂后腿部可以伸直，再服用两剂后毒邪完全消除。这个方子纯粹是润肠的药物，又是活血解毒的药材，虽然能泄火但实际上是在滋阴，所以相互辅助而成功，取得疗效如神一般。如果不益阴以润肠，而只攻毒以降火，那么大肠会先受损，又怎么能承受住火毒的灼烧呢？不要责怪越治越没效果。
秘诀：
清肠饮药治肠痈，元参一两榆麦冬，
银三归二草三钱，薏五芩二四剂从。
本症使用两间汤也很好：

人参（一两） 玉米（一两） 白术（一两） 山药（一两） 元参（一两） 甘草（三钱） 金银花（四两） 山羊血（一钱）

If a person suffers from severe abdominal pain, cannot tolerate touch, and has the right leg flexed and unable to extend, people usually attribute this to excessive fire in the abdomen and retained food. But who would know that this is actually an abscess forming in the large intestine? Whenever there is abdominal pain accompanied by the inability to extend the legs, it indicates an abscess within the intestines; specifically for an abscess in the large intestine, the leg's inability to extend is even more pronounced. However, the formation of an abscess in the large intestine has its causes; it invariably stems from fire. When fire is excessive and does not dissipate, it stagnates and forms an abscess. Yet, the excess of fire essentially originates from the deficiency of water. When kidney water declines, heart fire flares up; if this fire is unrestrained, it nurtures toxicity that becomes difficult to resolve. The treatment method must involve strengthening water to control fire, thereby eliminating toxicity and curing the abscess. Use the formula Qingchang Yin (Clear Intestine Decoction):
Shen Dong Huang Jing (Scrophulariae Radix) (1 liang), Di Yu (Sanguisorbae Radix) (1 liang), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber) (1 liang), Jin Yin Hua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) (3 liang), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (2 liang), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (3 qian), Yi Yi Ren (Coicis Semen) (5 qian), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) (2 qian).
Decoct in water and take orally. After one dose, pain subsides slightly; after two doses, the leg can extend; after another two doses, toxicity is completely eliminated. This formula consists purely of herbs that moisten the intestines and invigorate blood while resolving toxicity. Although it drains fire, it truly nourishes yin, allowing mutual assistance and success, yielding miraculous effects. If one does not benefit yin to moisten the intestines but only attacks toxicity to descend fire, the large intestine will be damaged first, making it impossible to withstand the scorching of fire-toxicity. Do not blame the treatment for being ineffective.
Secret Formula:
Qingchang Yin treats intestinal abscesses, Shen Dong Huang Jing 1 liang with Di Yu and Mai Dong,
Jin Yin Hua 3, Dang Gui 2, Gan Cao 3 qian, Yi Yi Ren 5, Huang Qin 2, follow with four doses.
Using Liangjian Tang (Two-Intervals Decoction) for this syndrome is also excellent:
Yu Mi (Zea Mays Seed) (2 liang), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (2 liang), Huai Hua (Sophorae Flos) (3 qian), Tian Hua Fen (Trichosanthis Radix) (3 qian), Jin Di Luo (Prunellae Spica / or specific local herb, here likely referring to a specific anti-inflammatory herb like *Prunella* or similar, contextually treated as such) (1 liang), Di Ding (Taraxaci Herba) (5 qian), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (8 qian).
Decoct in water and take orally. One dose reduces symptoms, two doses cure.
Secret Formula:
Liangjian Tang uses Yu Mi and Dang Gui, Huai Hua and Tian Hua Fen 3 qian, Jin Di Luo 1 liang,
Di Ding 5 qian, Gan Cao 8 qian, two doses miraculously remove the root.

Rescue Stomach with Ren Shen 1 liang, Dang Gui 2 liang, Sheng Di, Gan Cao, and Jin Di Luo 5 qian assist,
Di Yu and Tian Hua Fen 3 qian, Huang Qin 2 qian, whether one can eat after one dose is unknown.
When someone has an abscess in the large intestine, with the right leg unable to extend, severe abdominal pain, passage of pus and blood, and anal pain like knife cutting, this indicates the intestinal abscess has ulcerated. Those who can eat have a chance of survival; those who cannot eat face death. If inability to eat is due to blazing fire-toxicity, they may indeed be abandoned without rescue. However, among those who cannot eat, some do not suffer from blazing fire-toxicity. Thus, one should not abandon them solely due to inability to eat. For all carbuncle and sore syndromes, having stomach qi is auspicious. Therefore, treating carbuncles and sores prioritizes supporting stomach qi, adding herbs to resolve toxicity and transform pus, ensuring righteous qi is not injured and fire-toxicity disperses easily. Now, with an ulcerated large intestine abscess and loss of appetite, stomach qi is exhausted, representing a critical condition. If one does not urgently tonify the stomach but only treats the abscess, death is certain. Use the formula Changyong Kuilan Tang (Intestinal Abscess Ulceration Decoction):
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (1 liang), Yu Mi (Zea Mays Seed) (1 liang), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (1 liang), Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) (1 liang), Shen Dong Huang Jing (Scrophulariae Radix) (1 liang), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (3 qian), Jin Yin Hua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) (4 liang), Shan Yang Xue (Capra Hircus Blood) (1 qian).
Decoct in water. When taking the medicine, mix in Shan Yang Xue (Capra Hircus Blood). After one dose, stomach qi opens; after two doses, pus decreases; after three doses, pain stops; after four doses, recovery occurs.
This formula focuses entirely on rescuing stomach qi, while resolving toxicity and expelling pus is included within it. Its brilliance lies in Jin Yin Hua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos); although it treats toxicity, it is also a yin-nourishing herb, acting as the "life-snatching general" for wound patients and a benevolent yet brave army. With Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) and Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) to boost its power, dispersing toxicity becomes especially miraculous. Shan Yang Xue (Capra Hircus Blood) stops bleeding, eliminates turbidity, and promotes qi circulation, guiding other herbs directly into the abscess to disperse it, serving as a wise guide. Combined, there are harmonizers, pacifiers, and attackers, ensuring miraculous efficacy. Naturally, stomach qi opens widely, transforming essence and transmitting it to the large intestine. If stomach qi is not yet damaged, this formula yields immediate results. Do not doubt or fear using it, lest you waste lives.
Secret Formula:
Intestinal abscess ulceration with pus and blood, Ren Shen, Yu Mi, Bai Zhu, Shan Yao, Shen Dong Huang Jing each 1 liang connect,
Gan Cao 3 qian, Jin Yin Hua 4 liang, mix in Shan Yang Xue just before administration.
When someone has an abscess in the large intestine, with severe lower abdominal pain, continuous dripping, reduced spirit, tasteless diet, sallow complexion, weak limbs, spontaneous sweating, night sweats, and insomnia at night, people think it is fire causing the abscess. But who knows it is actually water deficiency failing to moisten the intestines? The large intestine's ability to conduct waste relies entirely on the irrigation of kidney water. Now, due to drunkenness, overeating, and sexual exhaustion, vital energy is severely damaged, leading to fire stirring and water drying up. Coupled with the intake of raw and cold foods, qi and blood become discordant, dampness moves and phlegm generates, causing intestinal blockage, impaired transformation and transportation, qi and blood stagnation, knotting into an abscess. Thus, before the abscess forms, it stems from kidney water deficiency; after ulceration, foul fluids flow out, making deficiency worse. If treated as fire-toxicity, few cases avoid death! One must greatly tonify kidney water and simultaneously supplement spleen and stomach qi. Then, the spleen and stomach transform essence to generate water, and the withered intestines, once receiving abundant moisture, will naturally feel satisfied and revive. There is no need to specifically treat the abscess; merely tonifying qi ensures sufficient qi and blood, and muscles regenerate naturally. Use the formula Jiawei Liuwei Dihuang Tang (Modified Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill):
Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) (8 qian), Shan Yu Rou (Corni Fructus) (8 qian), Sheng Di (Rehmanniae Radix) (2 liang), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) (1 liang), Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma) (1 qian), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (1 liang), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber) (1 liang), Fu Ling (Poria) (3 qian), Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) (6 qian).
Decoct in water and take orally. After several consecutive doses, abdominal pain stops and spirit strengthens, indicating recovery. This formula uses six ingredients to tonify kidney water, adding Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), and Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) to tonify spleen and stomach earth. When earth is prosperous, lung qi naturally prospers. Lung and large intestine are exterior-interior partners, and lung is the mother of kidney. Naturally, child and mother support each other, and exterior and interior correspond, yielding miraculous results.
Secret Formula:
Modified Liuwei uses Shan Yao, Shan Yu Rou, and Sheng Di, Ze Xie, Ren Shen, Mai Dong, Fu Ling, and Dan Pi,
Take continuously for four doses until abdominal pain stops; when spirit becomes robust, recovery is achieved.
The formula Jiawei Zhuangshui Tang (Modified Water-Strengthening Decoction) also treats this:
Shen Dong Huang Jing (Scrophulariae Radix) (2 liang), Sheng Di (Rehmanniae Radix) (2 liang), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber) (1 liang), Gan Ju Hua (Chrysanthemi Flos) (1 liang), Shan Yu Rou (Corni Fructus) (1 liang), Pu Gong Ying (Taraxaci Herba) (5 qian), Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus) (2 qian), Bei Mu (Fritillariae Bulbus) (2 qian).
Decoct in water and take orally. After two more doses, remove Pu Gong Ying (Taraxaci Herba) and Shen Dong Huang Jing (Scrophulariae Radix), add Fu Ling (Poria) 5 qian and Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) 5 qian.
Secret Formula:
Modified Zhuangshui uses Shen Dong Huang Jing and Sheng Di 2 liang each, Mai Dong and Gan Ju Hua, Shan Yu Rou each 1 liang prepared,
Pu Gong Ying 5 qian, Wu Wei Zi and Bei Mu 2 qian each, then remove Pu Gong Ying and Shen Dong Huang Jing, match with Fu Ling and Ren Shen.
