Insufficiency of Kidney Yin, with hyperactivity of Heart Fire and Liver Yang, manifests as sores on the tongue. The root of the tongue is ulcerated and fragmented like a cavity, accompanied by frequent internal heat. The tongue is the sprout of the Heart; the Kidney meridian passes through the Liver and Diaphragm, follows the throat, and flanks the root of the tongue. When Kidney Yin fails to ascend and Heart Fire fails to descend, it presents the image of "Water and Fire not interacting" (Shui Huo Bu Ji). There is fear that this may develop into the severe condition of She Gan (Tongue Ulcer/Gangrene). The therapeutic method should be to nourish Water (Kidney Yin) to control Yang.

Heart and Spleen Fire stagnation leads to the onset of She Gan (Tongue Ulcer/Gangrene). The root of the tongue is swollen and ulcerated, extending to the throat; this symptom indicates a serious condition. It is appropriate to nourish Yin and clear heat/detoxify.

Ulceration of the tongue on the left side indicates excessive Heart Fire and insufficient Kidney Water. One must strictly guard against the development of She Gan (Tongue Ulcer/Gangrene).

Suo Hou Du (Throat-Locking Toxin) presents with external swelling and internal obstruction, accompanied by rattling phlegm and rapid breathing; this is a critical condition.

The external swelling of Suo Hou Du (Throat-Locking Toxin) has receded, and the rattling phlegm has also decreased. Continue to modify the previous prescription.
Follow the previous formula: remove Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus), add Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix) and Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex).
The patient with Suo Hou Du (Throat-Locking Toxin) can gradually breastfeed, but there is no cry, and the exterior of the throat remains swollen.

Pan Cao Yong (Abscess in the Cheek/Jaw) has persisted for over a month. It spreads from the left to the right, intermittently ulcerating and discharging pus. The exterior of the cheek is hard and swollen, and the hardness is about to break open. Symptoms include fever, constipation, poor appetite, hiccups, and nausea. The pulse is fine/thin, and spirit is fatigued. This indicates Yin injury and Stomach Heat failing to transform. The condition is not mild. A plan is proposed using Sweet-Cold methods to clear heat and resolve toxicity.

For Pan Cao Yong (Abscess in the Cheek/Jaw), the external cheek swelling is difficult to dissipate and ultimately requires external ulceration. Although spiritual energy has recovered, heat, thirst, hiccups, and nausea have not decreased, and food intake has not increased. There is severe deficiency of the Yin aspect.
The condition is not mild. Tentatively propose nourishing Yin and clearing Stomach Heat.
