格去。再用大白萝卜数个，切作数块，并入锅内，用小火漫漫煮之，俟萝卜熟而且烂，将萝
卜捞去。再用萝卜数个再煮，总以硝水咸藉萝卜煮去为度，仍以新布盖瓦钵上（均须洗净泥
砂），将锅内所煮硝水，漫漫倒入布上沥过瓦钵内，去布。如此，泥砂咸味俱去，将钵放在
露天当中冻露一宿，俟瓦钵内结有明而且亮者为牙硝，取下摊纸上风干，装入瓷瓶内听用。
钵底下结有泥砂者不可用，天气稍为晴暖不结，必须大冻结冰天气最妙。
喉肿喉闭险恶喉症皆可通治。斑蝥（去翅足，糯米炒黄色去米）四钱，真血竭六分，乳

面八两，陈醋一两，和匀敷肿处；口含升降散，即能下咽，半日肿消如失。再酌服升降散，
以清余热。

每年冬季，等到天气严寒，即将结冰的时候，用皮硝四五斤，放在大瓦钵中，用开水浸泡使其溶解。另外准备一个大砂锅或大铜锅也可以，在锅口盖上一层新布，将溶解后的硝水通过布过滤到锅内，以便去除泥沙杂质。再用几个大白萝卜，切成几块，放入锅中，用小火慢慢煮，等到萝卜煮熟且烂透后，将萝卜捞出。再用几个萝卜继续煮，直到硝水中的咸味被萝卜吸收去除为止。仍然用新布覆盖在瓦钵上（都必须洗净泥沙），将锅内煮过的硝水慢慢倒在布上过滤到瓦钵内，去掉布。这样，泥沙和咸味就都去除了，将瓦钵放在露天中间冷冻一整夜，等到瓦钵内结出明亮晶莹的物质即为牙硝，取下摊在纸上风干，装入瓷瓶内备用。瓦钵底部结有泥沙的部分不可使用，如果天气稍暖不结冰，必须是大冻结冰的天气最好。
咽喉肿胀、咽喉闭塞等危险严重的喉症都可以通用治疗。斑蝥（去掉翅膀和足，用糯米炒至黄色后去掉米）四钱，真血竭六分，乳香少许，麝香少许。（原文此处有缺漏，根据语境推测为研磨成细末，吹入患处，速效。）

Refined Yuan Ming Fen (Mirabilite) 5 qian (refined according to method, must select bright and clean Glauber's salt/Ya Xiao), washed Cinnabar (Zhu Sha) 1 qian (washed clean with water, dried in the sun).
Every winter month, when the weather is extremely cold and about to freeze, use 4–5 jin of crude mirabilite (Pi Xiao), place it in a large earthenware bowl, and dissolve it by soaking in boiling water. Prepare another large clay pot or large copper pot, cover the mouth with a layer of new cloth, and filter the dissolved mirabilite solution through the cloth into the pot to remove mud and sand impurities. Then take several large white radishes, cut them into pieces, and add them to the pot. Simmer over low heat until the radishes are cooked and soft, then remove the radishes. Use more radishes to continue boiling until the salty taste of the mirabilite solution is absorbed and removed by the radishes. Cover the earthenware bowl again with new cloth (must be cleaned of mud and sand), and slowly pour the boiled mirabilite solution from the pot onto the cloth to filter into the earthenware bowl, then remove the cloth. In this way, mud, sand, and salty taste are all removed. Place the bowl in an open-air location to freeze overnight under the dew. When bright and clear crystals form in the bowl, these are Ya Xiao (Glauber's salt). Take them down, spread on paper to air-dry, and store in porcelain bottles for use. The sediment at the bottom of the bowl containing mud and sand cannot be used. If the weather is slightly warm and does not freeze, the best condition is severe freezing weather.
Throat swelling (Hou Zhong) and throat closure (Hou Bi) and other dangerous throat conditions can all be generally treated. Mylabris (Ban Mao) (remove wings and feet, stir-fry with rice flour until yellow, remove rice) 4 qian, genuine Dragon's Blood (Xue Jie) 6 fen, Frankincense (Ru Xiang) [amount omitted], Musk (She Xiang) [amount omitted]. [Grind into fine powder and insufflate into the affected area for rapid effect.]
For cases where there is unilateral swelling of the cheeks and jaw, soreness and swelling of the throat, accumulation of phlegm and saliva causing blockage, making it impossible to swallow even a drop of water: Use 2 jin of Portulaca oleracea (Ma Chi Xian), do not touch raw water, crush it and mix with 8 liang of white wheat flour (Bai Mian) and 1 liang of aged vinegar (Chen Cu). Mix evenly and apply to the swollen area; hold Sheng Jiang San (Ascending and Descending Powder) in the mouth, which will allow swallowing. The swelling will disappear within half a day. Subsequently, take Sheng Jiang San (Ascending and Descending Powder) as appropriate to clear residual heat.
