Whenever moxibustion is applied to treat diseases, it does not matter whether it is spring, summer, autumn, or winter. As long as the number of moxa cones is sufficient and the treated area develops a sore that suppurates and ulcerates, the disease will be cured; if no sore develops and no suppuration occurs, the disease will not heal. The *Jia Yi Jing* (Classic of Jia Yi) states: For cases where the moxa sore does not develop, use the sole of an old shoe, heat it until warm, and apply it as a hot compress to the affected area. After three days, the sore will develop, pus will naturally discharge, and the disease will heal. Currently, using three to five stalks of red-skin green onion, removing the green tops, warming them in ash fire, crushing them, and applying them hot to the moxa sore for more than ten times will cause the sore to develop naturally within three days.
Whenever moxibustion is used to treat diseases, immediately after stopping the application of heat, decoct two ingredients: red-skin green onion and mint (*Bohe*, 薄荷). Warmly wash the area surrounding the moxa sore, approximately one to two chi in circumference, to drive wind pathogens out through the sore opening and ensure the meridians remain unobstructed beneath the sore, allowing the sore to ulcerate naturally and the disease to heal. If, after the moxa sore has shed its scab, decoct equal parts of the tips of peach tree branches growing towards the southeast and fresh willow bark, and warmly wash the sore with this decoction. These two ingredients are particularly effective in protecting the moxa sore from wind pathogens. If the inside of the sore becomes black, rotten, and ulcerated, add coriander (*Husui*, 胡荽) to make three ingredients, decoct them in equal parts, and warmly wash the sore; healthy flesh will naturally grow. If the pain from the moxa sore is unbearable and persists for a long time without healing, add Coptis Rhizome (*Huanglian*, 黄连) to make four ingredients, decoct them in equal parts, and wash with the decoction; there will be immediate and miraculous effects.
In spring, take willow catkins as soft as goose feathers; in summer, use bamboo membrane; in autumn, use new cotton; in winter, use rabbit fur, preferably white and fine from the abdomen, or even better, from a kitten's abdomen.
