About
Two thousand years of Chinese medical classics, read side-by-side in three languages.
Classica Sinica — Medicine is a scholarly reading platform for the canon of Chinese medicine: 701 classical works from the pre-Qin era through the early twentieth century, indexed into 61,414 passages. Each passage is available in three registers — the original classical Chinese, a vernacular Chinese rendering, and an English translation — and is cross-linked into a navigable index of herbs, formulas, symptoms, acupoints, dynasties, and authors.
The platform treats reading as the primary act. Meaning-based search and citation-grounded AI Q&A are supports, never replacements, for the texts themselves. We believe the classics deserve a digital edition that is typographically serious, fully searchable, and conversationally legible — not just an archive of scans or a walled database.
Disclaimer. Every piece of content here is a historical or scholarly document. Any question that touches on symptoms, formulas, or treatment is answered as scholarly exposition only; it is not medical advice. Seek a licensed practitioner for anything concerning your health.
Credits. Source texts rest on the public-interest scholarship of many editors; the vernacular and English translations were generated by large language models and are being progressively reviewed by domain experts. Corrections are warmly welcomed. The project's codebase is organised so each product is isolated while the underlying corpus is shared — enabling more specialised applications to grow over time.
