**Upper Hypochondriac Carbuncle** arises two to three cun below the hypochondrium. It is caused by severe congestion of wind-heat in the Liver Meridian, resulting in this toxicity. The *Qinggan Liuqi Yin* (Clear Liver and Promote Qi Decoction) should be used. If it ulcerates, apply *Wanling Gao* (Wanling Plaster) externally and sprinkle *Shengji San* (Tissue-Regenerating Powder). Peace will naturally ensue.
**Nineteen-Ingredient Qianghuo Pain-Relieving Decoction** (*Shijiuwei Qianghuo Dingtong Yin*)
Ingredients: *Qianghuo* (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), *Duhuo* (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), *Xuanshen* (Scrophulariae Radix), *Shengma* (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), *Baizhi* (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), *Ruxiang* (Olibanum), *Moyao* (Myrrha), *Fangfeng* (Saposhnikoviae Radix), *Zisu* (Perillae Folium), *Jiegen* (Platycodonis Radix), *Chaihu* (Bupleuri Radix), *Maidong* (Ophiopogonis Tuber), *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), *Huangqin* (Scutellariae Radix), *Renshen* (Ginseng Radix), *Baizhu* (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), *Lianqiao* (Forsythiae Fructus), *Erhua* (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos). Use fresh ginger and jujube as guides. Take after meals.
**Lower Hypochondriac Carbuncle** arises in the lower part of both hypochondria, opposite the umbilicus. It is generated by severe damp-heat congestion in the Liver and Kidney meridians. The treatment method for herbal decoctions is the same as for the upper hypochondriac carbuncle.
**Leg Wandering Toxicity** (*Tui Youdu*) arises in the middle of the thigh. This area is governed by the Kidney and Small Intestine. It occurs when pathogenic factors accumulate in the collaterals, heat qi damages the skin, and blood coagulates at this site. At the initial stage, *Yisao Dan* (One-Sweep Powder) or *Shixiao Bing* (Shixiao Cake) can be used to dissipate it (formulas see above). If delayed, take the subsequent prescription. After ulceration, use *Wanling Gao* to drain pus, then apply *Shengji San* to heal.
**Thirteen-Ingredient Zisu Promoting Qi Decoction** (*Shisanwei Zisu Liuqi Yin*)
Ingredients: *Zisu* (Perillae Folium), *Chuanpo* (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), *Xiangfu* (Cyperi Rhizoma), *Binglang* (Arecae Semen), *Mugua* (Chaenomelis Fructus), *Fupi* (Arecae Pericarpium), *Chuanxiong* (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), *Erhua* (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos), *Zhike* (Aurantii Fructus), *Wuyao* (Linderae Radix), *Niuxi* (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), *Gupi* (Lycii Cortex Radicis).
**Eleven-Ingredient Tuoli Promoting Qi Decoction** (*Shiyiwei Tuoli Liuqi Yin*)
Ingredients: *Zisu* (Perillae Folium), *Zhike* (Aurantii Fructus), *Jiegen* (Platycodonis Radix), *Qianghuo* (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), *Duhuo* (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), *Dahuang* (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), *Fupi* (Arecae Pericarpium), *Wuyao* (Linderae Radix), *Xiangfu* (Cyperi Rhizoma), *Lianqiao* (Forsythiae Fructus). Take on an empty stomach.
**Gluteal Carbuncle** (*Tun Yong*) arises on the prominence of the buttocks, close to the lumbar region and kidneys superiorly, and near the thigh inferiorly. It is caused by invasion of damp-heat leading to stagnation of qi and blood. Its shape is large like a plate; swelling extends up to the waist and down to the hip. This is a "Yang within Yin" condition, where blood coagulation obstructs qi flow. Treatment should focus on venting heat and extracting toxicity, using major formulas to tonify qi and blood, strengthen the Spleen and Stomach, and nourish the root. This facilitates pus formation and heat dispersion. Suitable prescriptions include *Badu Qianghuo Yin* (Toxin-Extracting Qianghuo Decoction) and *Xuanre Lianqiao Tang* (Heat-Venting Lianqiao Decoction). Otherwise, it may persist for years without healing. After tonification, once pus and blood are formed, incise with a long needle, insert the root of *Yuanhua* (Genkwa Flos) into the puncture, apply *Wanling Gao* externally, and internally administer *Renshen Baidu San* (Ginseng Detoxifying Powder). Wait until the pus is exhausted for natural resolution. Do not seek quick results or heed the advice of incompetent practitioners who apply herbal pastes. Cold and cooling herbs cause blood to coagulate and stagnate, leading to suffering for years, which is truly formidable.
**Nineteen-Ingredient Badu Qianghuo Decoction** (*Shijiuwei Badu Qianghuo Yin*)

Use *Zaocili* (Gleditsiae Spina) as a guide. Take on an empty stomach.
**Twenty-Three-Ingredient Xuanre Lianqiao Decoction** (*Sanershiwei Xuanre Lianqiao Tang*)
