Aborescent carbuncle of the ear root occurs below the ear root and above the gum, caused by excessive fire in the Shaoyang (Lesser Yang) and Yangming (Yang Brightness) meridians. It is advisable to purge the fire of these two meridians using Qinggan Xiaodu Yin (Liver-Clearing and Toxin-Resolving Decoction). At the initial stage, apply Shenxian Fudu Shixiao Bing (Immortal's Poison-Dispelling and Regret-Overcoming Plaster), and moxa the Jiache (St6) and Jianjing (GB21) acupoints, three moxa cones each.

Nuclear carbuncle occurs below the angle of the mandible, resulting from accumulated heat in the Heart and Lung. At the initial stage, it presents as red and swollen like a plate; frequent moxibustion can dissipate it. Internally administer Jiedu Huanglian Tang (Toxin-Resolving Coptis Decoction), externally apply compresses. If it suppurates, use Wanling Gao (Myriad-Efficacy Ointment) and Shengji San (Flesh-Regenerating Powder). Otherwise, there is fear of developing a sinus tract (lou he).

Da Dai Yao (Large Belt around Waist) occurs below the iliac bone, more than five cun away from the nipple. At the initial stage, it resembles a peach, gradually becoming red and swollen. This is due to damp-heat damaging the Heart, Liver, and Spleen meridians. One must quickly resolve the toxin; otherwise, it will gradually encircle the waist like a rope, eventually ulcerating, causing unbearable pain. It is named Long Xian Chuang (Dragon Lichen Sore). After treating with Baidu Liqi Yin (Toxin-Purging and Qi-Regulating Decoction), Qianjin Jiuku Yin (Thousand-Gold Life-Saving Decoction), and Xiaodu Yin (Toxin-Resolving Decoction), finish with Wanling Gao (Myriad-Efficacy Ointment) to regenerate flesh and heal.
