Guishen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, stir-baked), Qianghuo (Rhizoma Notopterygii), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Zhiziren (Semen Gossypii Herbacei), Danshen (Radix et Rhizoma Scutellariae Baicalensis - *Note: Text says Dancao/Longdan, usually Longdan Cao* Dragon Grass/Longdan Cao) in equal parts. Grind all into fine powder, use refined honey to make pills, size like Toosendan seeds (Koelreuteriae Fructus), swallow with Zhuye Tang (Bamboo Leaf Decoction). This is a formula for draining Liver Fire. If fever is present, remove Dahuang; or add Quanxie (Scorpio) and Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, stir-baked), use Zhuye (Bamboo Leaf) as an guiding herb, decoct in water until very concentrated and take.

Emetic Method: Use Gen Tu Niuxi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae), extract its natural juice, and pour it into the mouth; phlegm will be vomited out naturally.
Moxibustion Method: First, join the thumbs of both hands together, burn three moxa cones at the side seam of the nail; then join the middle fingers of both hands together, burn one or two moxa cones at the center of the side seam of the nail. If the patient wakes up, it is treatable; if there is no sensation of pain, it is untreatable.
Ancestor's method for treating Jing Feng (Convulsive Disease): First use Xionghuang Jiedu Wan (Realgar Detoxification Pill) to drain phlegm-heat, then use Liangjing Wan (Cooling Convulsion Pill) to reduce fire, and finally use Baoming Dan (Life-Preserving Elixir) and Anshen Wan (Spirit-Calming Pill) to regulate, resulting in peace.
This contrasts with symptoms of Ji Jing Feng (Acute Convulsive Disease). Symptoms include hand grasping/clenching, eyes closed, mouth open, sunken fontanelle, fish-mouth (cracked lips), rapid breathing, foaming at the mouth, vomiting medicine, lethargy without speaking or crying, locked jaw, inability to eat or drink, enuresis, fecal incontinence, face red as vermilion. These are all untreatable conditions.
In cases of Man Jing Feng (Chronic Convulsive Disease), children have inherent constitutional weakness and suffer from frequent illnesses, or experience severe vomiting and diarrhea, or chronic malaria and dysentery, or mistakenly take emetic or purgative drugs. All these lead to depletion of spirit and essence, gradually forming convulsions with weakness; ten out of ten cases are fatal. If primordial Qi is weak and chronic convulsion is triggered by fear, the symptoms resolve after an episode, resembling normal state. However, there is excessive crying and restlessness during sleep. Do not recklessly use phlegm-draining drugs. First use Qingzhou Bai Wanzi (Qingzhou White Pill), add Qingmengshi (Calamine), to remove phlegm; subsequently take Anshen Wan (Spirit-Calming Pill), delivered with Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction). If after severe vomiting and diarrhea, there is cold extremities, lethargy, slightly exposed eyeballs, but no convulsions, this indicates impending chronic convulsion. Urgently apply warming and tonifying methods: Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) plus one slice of Shu Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root). After recovery, regulate with Jisheng Wan (Accumulated Sage Pill).
After severe vomiting and diarrhea, if chronic convulsion has already formed, symptoms include pulling of mouth and eyes, and convulsions of limbs. Use Xingpi San (Spleen-Awakening Powder) to dispel wind and awaken the spleen. After wind subsides, take Shenling Baizhu San (Ginseng, Poria, and Atractylodes Macrocephala Powder) made into pills.
In cases of chronic convulsion with phlegm-qi obstruction, do not recklessly use draining/purging drugs; only use Qingzhou Bai Wanzi (Qingzhou White Pill) added with Qingmengshi (Calamine) for treatment.
For chronic convulsion that does not wake or subside, moxa Baihui (GV20) and Zusanli (ST36). For males, use left side; for females, use right side below the nipple.
When chronic convulsion has subsided, or there is residual heat, and appetite is poor, first take one or two doses of Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction), then regulate with Jisheng Wan (Accumulated Sage Pill).
