Breast cancer (Ru Yan) in women begins with a lump, the size of a turtle or a chess piece, painless and non-itchy, which ulcerates after five to seven years. In the early stage, it is advisable to take herbs that soothe Qi and promote blood circulation; if the patient's mood is contented and free from worry, it can be cured. Once ulcerated, the wound resembles a hollow rock cave or everted lips like a human mouth, with red fluid and pus oozing over the chest and abdomen, causing pain due to Qi attack. Use Wuhui Gao (Five Ashes Plaster) to remove necrotic tissue and generate new flesh, leading to gradual contraction. This disease often arises from chronic depression and accumulated resentment, commonly seen in middle-aged women. If not ulcerated, it is treatable; once ulcerated, it is ultimately incurable. It is suitable to administer Shiliuwei Liuqi Yin (Sixteen-Ingredient Qi-Flowing Decoction).
Shiliuwei Liuqi Yin: Treats breast cancer.
Danggui (Angelicae Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Guangui (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), Wuyao (Tsaoko Fructus), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Binglang (Arecae Semen), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Zisu (Perillae Folium), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma).
For Ru Yong (Acute Mastitis), add Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride). It also treats carbuncles and tumors caused by residual toxins from smallpox/rubella.
Decoct one dose in water and take frequently after meals and before bed.
The condition of "women having intercourse with ghosts" occurs due to deficiency of the Zang-Fu organs and the Shen (Spirit) failing to reside within its abode, allowing ghostly pathogens to cause disease. Symptoms include aversion to seeing people, as if conversing with someone invisible, sometimes laughing alone, sometimes weeping bitterly. The pulse is slow and deep, or irregular like bird pecks, indicating ghostly pathogenic influence. Another presentation features a continuous, indistinct pulse without clear rhythm, while facial color remains unchanged; this is also such a syndrome. It is suitable to moxa the Gui Ku (Ghost Cry) acupoint. Bind the patient's two thumbs together tightly with thread, and apply moxa cone burning at the junction of half-flesh and half-nail on the seam for seven moxa cones. If it is truly a possession illness, the patient will beg to stop moxibustion, saying, "I am leaving now."

Baifushen (Poria Cum Mycelium), Baifuling (Poria), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) (each 1.5 qian), Chixiaodou (Vigna Angularis Semen) (0.5 qian).
Decoct one dose in water and take orally. Externally use Pixie Dan (Evil-Repelling Pill) to dispel evil (Formula see Epidemic Diseases chapter).
When a woman suffers from Shanghan (Cold Damage) fever and her menstruation coincides with the onset, she is lucid during the day but delirious at night, seeing things as if they were ghosts. This is Re Ru Xue Shi (Heat entering the Blood Chamber). Use Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) (Formula see Shanghan chapter), adding Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens) to the base formula. Alternatively, use Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) removing Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), using Shengdihuang instead, adding Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), equal parts, decocted and taken. This also treats this syndrome.
Female vulvar swelling is caused by deficiency of the Bao Luo (Uterine Collaterals) and invasion by Wind pathogens.
Heibai San (Black and White Powder): Treats vulvar swelling and pain.
Xiaomai (Tritici Fructus), Piao Xiao (Natrii Sulfas), Bai Fan (Alumen), Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis), Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus).
Decoct these ingredients in water and wash frequently. Alternatively, mash Biancao (Verbenae Herba) and apply externally.
Female vulvar itching is caused by worms eroding the vaginal opening. To treat vulvar itching, decoct Chuangzi (Cnidii Fructus) and Bai Fan (Alumen) in water for washing to stop the itching. Alternatively, insert a three-cun piece of beef liver or pork liver into the vagina; the worms will enter the liver, and upon removal, immediate relief occurs.
Ulcers in the female vagina are caused by Damp-Heat.
Treatment for female vaginal ulcers: Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), Xionghuang (Realgar), Fanshi (Alumen) (each 2 fen), Shexiang (Moschus) (2.5 fen).
Grind into fine powder and apply inside the vagina. Alternatively, applying sulfur powder alone is also effective.
A woman, prone to depression, experienced internal vulvar pain and itching, frequent discharge, poor appetite, and limb fatigue. She was treated with Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) plus Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), and Sheng Gancao (Raw Licorice Root), resulting in recovery.
A woman, after recovering from an illness, passed feces through urine. This is due to excessive Yin cold and failure of the Large Intestine to transport, named Da Xiao Chang Jiao (Intertwining of Large and Small Intestines). She was first cured with two doses of Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria), then stabilized with Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction).
A woman suffered from coldness in the vagina, clear urine, abdominal coldness, poor appetite, and loose stools, indicating Deficiency-Cold of the Lower Yuan. She was treated with Bawei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill) for over a month; her diet gradually improved, and stools became formed. After another month, all symptoms resolved.
A woman experienced bleeding and pain during intercourse due to Liver Fire disturbing the Spleen's ability to control blood. She was cured using Buzhong Yiqi Tang and Jisheng Guipi Tang (Guipi Decoction modified for Childbearing). If excessive bleeding led to other symptoms, regulating and tonifying the Spleen and Liver with previous formulas sufficed.
A woman had a prolapse of about five cun from the vagina, accompanied by stifling pain, heavy bearing sensation, dripping discharge, and dysuria. In the evening, Longdan Xiegan Tang (Gentian Decoction to Drain the Liver) was used to separate and drain Damp-Heat; in the morning, Buzhong Yiqi Tang was used to raise and tonify Spleen Qi. Symptoms gradually improved. Subsequently, Guipi Tang plus Zhizi, Fuling, Chuanxiong, and Huangbai was taken intermittently for regulation, leading to cure. Later, due to labor or anger, she developed lower body damp-itch and difficult urination, which resolved again with the previous formulas. Cases with prolapse up to one chi or even growth of various worm-like masses are also treated this way.
A woman suffered from urinary incontinence or intermittent difficulty urinating, worsening in the late afternoon. This was due to Liver Heat causing Yin Ting (prolapse) unable to maintain control. Liuwei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill) material plus Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Jiuchao Hei Huanglian (Wine-fried Black Coptidis Rhizoma) 7 fen, and Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) 5 fen were administered for several doses, curing all symptoms. Misusing diuretic agents would further damage True Yin, inevitably leading to death.
A pregnant woman suffered from dysuria and lower abdominal swelling, nearly resulting in miscarriage. One dose of Bawei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill) resulted in dribbling urine; a second dose of the pill material plus Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen) promoted urination immediately, relieving the abdomen and ensuring safety.
A pregnant woman spontaneously felt sad without cause. Ten dates, Gancao (Licorice Root), and Xiaomai (Tritici Fructus) each three liang were decocted in water, divided into three doses, and taken, resulting in cure. Upon recurrence, the same decoction supplemented with Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) plus Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) ensured stability.
A woman exhibited tremors and delirious speech, unresponsive to various medicines. I attributed this to Depression and Anger.
Upon inquiry, it was revealed she harbored long-standing resentment against her husband. Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) provided slight relief; Jiawei Guipi Tang (Modified Restore the Spleen Decoction) led to full recovery.
A woman suffered from palpitations, insomnia, spontaneous and nocturnal sweating, lethargy, and lack of taste in food. Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) cured her. Over a year later, due to emotional stagnation, she relapsed with previous symptoms plus epistaxis and hematochezia. The same formula cured her again.
A woman suddenly fell into coma and delirium, claiming that because she had embezzled money from someone in a past life, the spirits were blaming her and taking her to the City God Temple for judgment. Her ankles, knees, and buttocks turned blue, swollen and painful beyond endurance, and she cried out in agony. She regained consciousness the next day, but pain persisted. Jin Yin Teng (Lonicerae Japonicae Caulis), approximately two liang, decocted in water, cured her.
A twenty-year-old unmarried woman bit men uncontrollably upon seeing them, followed by fainting and emission of cold essence from the vagina, waking up shortly after. Her Jueyin Liver pulse was wiry and extended beyond the Cun position, indicating Excess Yin and unfulfilled desire for a man. I instructed her parents to beat her severely with a stick; the pain suppressed the desire. She subsequently recovered after taking Yi Yin Wan (Yin-Suppressing Pill).
