The intestines, having blocked the water passages, result in astringent and difficult urination with urine resembling chicken liver; if the failed blood flows into the large intestine and blocks the anus, it leads to astringent and difficult defecation. Physicians unfamiliar with this condition call it "five-organ lin syndrome" (dysuria due to five-organ dysfunction), attributing it to injury of the Heart and Liver causing stasis to form clumps like chicken livers. They fail to realize that failed blood flowing into the large intestine blocks the passage of water and grain, causing such symptoms. Simply taking this prescription will lead to immediate recovery.
Question 13: What should be done if postpartum bleeding resembles metrorrhagia (sudden heavy uterine bleeding)? Answer: Between the cessation of failed blood and lochia after childbirth, one should still take medicine to regulate the five Zang organs. If sour and salty foods are consumed, creating conflicting cold and heat properties, the Ying (Nutrient) and Wei (Defensive) Qi fail to harmonize, leading to abdominal discomfort and resulting in leukorrhea or metrorrhagia. Symptoms include blood color resembling the liver, tidal fever over the whole body, stiffness and tension in the back and shoulders, and mental restlessness. Physicians who do not examine carefully may diagnose it as metrorrhagia. However, when a woman's menstrual period is approaching, sudden continuous bleeding exceeding the normal schedule is termed metrorrhagia. In postpartum women, blood and Qi are actively circulating; failure to maintain proper care leads to this disease. Simply taking this pill will result in recovery.
Question 14: What should be done for postpartoral chest and diaphragm fullness of Qi and indefinite vomiting/nausea? Answer: After childbirth, blood stagnates in the Spleen and Stomach, causing food and Qi to become excessive, unsettling the Heart Qi, leading to chest and diaphragmatic distension and frequent vomiting. Physicians unfamiliar with this condition call it "fan wei" (reverse stomach/regurgitation), because the mouth cannot accept food and drink, hence the name. Moreover, during pregnancy, blood stagnates in the Spleen, and Heart Qi clashes, causing vomiting and nausea. How can this be called fan wei? Simply taking two or three pills of this preparation ensures success without failure.
Question 15: What should be done for postpartum cough and alternating chills and fever? Answer: Failure to observe dietary restrictions after childbirth causes wheat-based foods to congeal into phlegm masses, leading to asthma, coughing, alternating cold and heat in the four limbs, chest oppression, and oral...
