A male patient suffered burns on both arms with pain and difficulty in urination and defecation; this was due to fire-toxin transmitting to the Lower Jiao (lower burner). After one dose, urination and defecation became smooth, and pain ceased. Subsequently, Si Wu Tang (Four Substance Decoction) plus Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix), Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), and Gan Cao were used to slough off necrotic tissue; after several more doses, new flesh grew.
Another male patient, injured by hot soup while drunk, presented with leg ulceration, fever, thirst with desire to drink, and a flooding, rapid, and forceful pulse; this was caused by fire-toxin. Then, Sheng Huang Qi, Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Dang Gui, Shao Yao, Zhi Gan Cao (Prepared Licorice Root), Bai Zhi, and Mu Gua (Chaenomelis Fructus) were used as new flesh nearly completed healing.
