Treats Hong Kong foot (podagra/edema) flowing and accumulating in the three Yang meridians, with symptoms of heat, redness, and swelling above the ankle; chills and fever alternating like malaria; spontaneous sweating and aversion to wind; or no sweating and aversion to cold.
Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma - honey-fried), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Fuling (Poria), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma - steamed), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma - soaked in rice wash water). All ingredients in equal parts.
Crush into a coarse powder. Take 4 qian per dose, with 1.5 cups of water, 3 slices of ginger, and one sprig of bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba). Decoct until reduced to 0.7 parts, strain, and take hot. Usually cured within two doses. If skin itching and red rashes occur, add Chandui (Cicadae Periostracum) and decoct.
When the patient has abdominal fullness, tightness connecting the throat to the lingual frenulum, chest and diaphragm stuffiness and fullness, and pain extending from along the tibia down to the anterior medial aspect of the thigh, the inner malleolus, behind the calcaneal tuberosity, connecting to the medial end of the big toe, this is caused by the flow and accumulation of the four pathogenic factors (wind, cold, summer-heat, dampness) in the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. The predominance of the four factors is as described previously. Treatment should follow the severity of the pathogenic invasion, using warming and dispersing methods accordingly.
Treats the flow and accumulation of the four pathogenic factors in the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian, presenting with painful joints, stiffness and cramping of the four limbs, spontaneous sweating, shortness of breath, difficult urination, aversion to wind and fear of cold, and frequent edema of the head, face, hands, and feet.
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata - processed, peeled, navel removed), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex - 4 liang each), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma - 3 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma - honey-fried, 2 liang), Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix - 4 liang), Fuling (Poria - 3 liang).
Crush into a coarse powder. Take 4 qian per dose, with 2 cups of water and 7 slices of ginger. Decoct until reduced to 0.7 parts, strain, and take warm.
When the patient has pain in the lower back and spine, pain extending from below the little toe through the sole of the foot, along the inner malleolus into the heel, up the medial calf, exiting the medial popliteal fossa, and involving the entire medial thigh, with pain rushing up to the chest and throat; inability to eat despite hunger; black complexion; dribbling and obstruction of urine; incessant coughing and spitting; frequent fearfulness; a heart feeling palpitations as if being hunted; and insensitivity of the lower abdomen—this is difficult to treat. This is caused by the flow and accumulation of the four pathogenic factors in the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian. The predominance of the four factors is as described previously. Treatment should follow the severity of the pathogenic invasion, using warming methods accordingly.
Treats Shaoyin Kidney Meridian Hong Kong foot entering the abdomen, presenting with insensitivity of the lower abdomen, rapid upward rushing of qi causing panting, vomiting, and spontaneous sweating. This condition is most critical, as Kidney Water overacting on Heart Fire (Water overcoming Fire) leads to imminent death.
