Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take two qianbi (a traditional Chinese measure for powder) per dose, mixed with rice water. The condition will resolve once urination becomes smooth. Another prescription: add Ulmi Cortex Albus (Yubai Pi, 榆白皮), one liang.
Bawei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill) Treats women suffering from illness where appetite and diet remain normal, yet they experience irritability, heat sensation, inability to lie flat, and instead must lean forward to breathe easily. This is caused by the twisting of the bladder ligaments (Baoxi, 胞系) leading to urinary retention, thus inducing this disease, known as Zhuanbao (Pregnancy-related Urinary Retention). The condition resolves simply by promoting diuresis, due to the presence of Poria in Bawei Wan. (See formula in Shaoyin Hongjiao Men section)
