Treats generalized edema, abdominal distension with enlargement, emaciation of the four limbs, and turbid, difficult urination.
*Thladiantrae Fructus* (stir-fried between papers), *Cardamineae Hirsutae Herba* (equal parts)
Pulverize the above ingredients, mix with honey to make pills the size of a bullet. Take one pill per dose, chew it down while swallowing with *Chenpi Decoction* (Tangerine Peel Decoction). Taking only three pills will clear the urine; taking several pills should restore the abdomen to its normal state.
Diseases such as Fengshui (Wind Water), Pishui (Skin Water), Shishui (Stone Water), and Huanghan (Yellow Sweat) are all categorized similarly to Zhengshui (True Water), but their treatments differ.
Treats Fengshui syndrome, characterized by generalized edema, pain in bone joints, aversion to wind with spontaneous sweating, inability to close the eyes completely, shortness of breath as if about to cease, and a floating pulse.
*Soybean*, *Prunus Armeniaca Seed* (stir-fried, skin and tips removed), *Ephedrae Herba* (nodes removed), *Saposhnikoviae Radix*, *Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix* (*Zhu Ling*, Pericarpium removed, each 4 liang), *Alismatis Rhizoma*, *Scutellariae Radix*, *Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata* (prepared, each 3 liang), *Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum* (washed with decoction seven times), *Poria*, *Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma* (each 5 liang), *Kansui Radix* (stir-fried), *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (honey-fried, each 2 liang)
Cut the above ingredients into small pieces. For each dose of 5 qian, add 2 zhan of water, 0.5 zhan of wine, and 7 slices of ginger. Decoct until reduced to 0.7 zhan, filter out the dregs, and take at any time. Stop medication when urination and defecation become smooth and edema subsides. If ineffective, add 5 liang of raw *Mirabilite Radix* (Da Ji) and 2 liang of *Thladiantrae Fructus* (stir-fried on paper until fragrant); there will be no case that does not respond rapidly. Although *Glycyrrhizae Radix* is chemically incompatible with *Kansui Radix* and seemingly should not be used together, it proves effective here, which is beyond human comprehension.
Treats Pishui syndrome, characterized by complete edema of the four limbs and head/face, pitting upon pressure, no aversion to wind, abdomen unchanged in shape, no panting or thirst, and a floating pulse.
*Arecae Pericarpium* (roasted), *Morus Alba Cortex* (roasted), *Poria Pericarpium*, *Zingiberis Recens Cortex*, *Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium* (aged, equal parts)
Cut the above ingredients into small pieces. For each dose of 4 qian, add 1.5 zhan of water. Decoct until reduced to 0.7 zhan, filter out the dregs, and take hot. Take two to three times daily. In recent times, grinding *Costi Radix* (Mu Xiang) powder and decocting it together with water is also considered excellent.
Treats Shishui syndrome, characterized by emaciated limbs, abdominal swelling without panting, and a deep pulse.
*Phytolaccae Radix* (Ze Qi, washed to remove fishy odor, 5 liang), *Morus Alba Cortex* (6 liang, roasted), *Belamcandae Rhizoma* (soaked in rice wash water), *Scutellariae Radix*, *Poria*, *Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma* (each 4 liang), *Alismatis Rhizoma*, *Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix* (each 2 liang)
Cut the above ingredients into small pieces. For each dose of 5 qian, add 3 zhan of water and 1 he of black soybeans. Decoct until reduced to 2 zhan, then add the medicinal herbs. Continue decocting until reduced to 0.7 zhan, filter out the dregs, and take warm on an empty stomach. Take three times daily.
For Huanghan (Yellow Sweat), treat according to the methods for the five types of Jaundice, using yellow wine for administration.
