The Classics state: For women, the Heart and Spleen are the root of life. Whenever Qi stagnates in the Heart and Spleen, stagnation transforms into Fire. If unresolved for a long time, it gradually consumes the Yin of the Five Zang organs. This formula was specially formulated to have both unblocking and tonifying effects, truly comparable to those of Master Danxi and Master Lizhai. The rationale of the formula is as follows: Ren Shen nourishes Heart Qi; Mai Dong benefits Heart fluids; Sheng Di Huang, Dan Shen, and Xuan Shen nourish Heart Yin; Fu Shen, Bai Zi Ren, and Yuan Zhi calm the Spirit; Wu Wei Zi and Suan Zao Ren astringe Heart fluids; Chuan Lian Zi and Gan Cao clear Heart Yang; Jie Geng promotes Heart Qi flow; Zhu Sha settles fright and calms the mind; Bai Zhu strengthens Spleen Yang; Xiang Fu smooths Spleen Yin; Chuan Bei Mu treats Spleen stagnation. These herbs are heavily emphasized to correspond to and regulate the two Zang organs of the Heart and Spleen. Using Long Yan instead of honey greatly tonifies Heart Blood, while Gan Cao harmonizes the Spleen. Making the pills the size of bullets and chewing them thoroughly before swallowing prevents them from directly descending to the Lower Jiao, thereby doubling their efficacy. It is named Xin Pi Shuang Bu Wan (Heart-Spleen Dual Tonification Pill).

Since I had the privilege of witnessing your elegant demeanor, it was like drinking mellow wine. Upon parting, recalling your refreshing presence evoked feelings akin to the admiration for Dongye's cloud dragon. I deeply reflect on your pursuit of the *Ling Shu* and *Su Wen*. Recently, by collecting various writings, you have opened a realm of longevity for the people, acting as a compassionate boat for saving the world. I have broad connections in this field but have never met anyone as dedicated as you; I admire you immensely. At present, receiving your letter from my brother Meng Qin, I am deeply grateful for your exquisite annotations and earnest kindness, which are engraved in my heart. I also thank you for your generous praise, which makes me feel even more ashamed. I fear my talent is shallow, and I have been busily running around. For thirty years, worry has turned my hair white, my skin has become loose, and my waistband wide. My body is fragmented like a banana leaf, and my elbows are gnarled like willow branches supporting my frail frame. Like swallows' shadows and duckweed traces, I remain unchanged, inevitably laughed at by time. My clumsy work, *Wen Yi* (Plague Epidemics), was completed in haste, with rough writing. How could it be fit for publication? However, out of your kindness, I dare to display a drum made of cloth before the gate of Lei Men (a metaphor for showing off before experts). If you insist on having it printed, I earnestly request your deep revision and correction to remove flaws. There are still errors and illegible characters in the collection, which I will submit separately for your judgment. I am extremely pleased to have my name included among those who proofread and print, attached to your success...
