治因怒气，或食热物，或饮酒而致目赤，眼胞紫，内生赤脉，加大黄煎服。复加川芎，
治气眼浮软，上壅朦胧。

上入乳钵内同研细，水飞过，澄取，又用少许黄蜡熔，旋入药，待要用时，就火旋丸如

Muxiang Liuqi Yin (Wood Fragrance Qi-Flowing Decoction)
Treats red eyes, purple eyelids, and the internal growth of red meridians caused by anger, consumption of hot-natured foods, or alcohol. Add Rhubarb (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and decoct for oral administration. If Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) is added additionally, it treats qi-eye with flaccid swelling and visual blurriness due to upward stagnation of qi.
Fenxin Qi Yin (Heart-Qi Separating Decoction)
Treats the above conditions. It is particularly effective for cases complicated by heat. (See formulas in the General Formulas section on Qi disorders.)
Shigao Qianghuo San (Gypsum and Notopterygium Powder)
Treats long-standing blindness in both eyes, chronic internal and external qi obstruction, wind-induced nebulae and dimness, trichiasis (inverted eyelashes), and all types of eye diseases.
Notopterygium (Qianghuo, 羌活) [treats brain heat and headache];
Mimenghua (Membracis Flower, 密蒙花) [treats photophobia];
Muzei (Equiseti Herba, 木贼) [disperses nebulae];
Chuan Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 川白芷) [clears and benefits the head and eyes];
Beixixin (Asari Radix, 北细辛) [remove...];
Gypsum (Shigao, 石膏) [clears head heat].
Pulverize the above ingredients. Take two qian per dose, after meals and before bed, mixed with one cup of honey water, tea infusion, or the second rinse water from washing rice. Administer three times daily.
Tu Yi San (Nebula-Dispersing Powder)
Treats nebulae within the eye; also treats residual toxins after chickenpox/smallpox that fail to dissipate, causing nebula formation in the eye.
Real Clam Shell Powder (Ge Fen, 蛤粉) [separately ground, one liang];
Valerian Grass (Gu Jing Cao, 谷精草) [one liang, pulverized].
Mix evenly. Take two qian per dose. Place on a slice of raw pig liver (about the size of three fingers), cut open, sprinkle the medicine on it, roll it up, tie it securely with hemp thread, and cook in thick broth.
Snuffing Medicine
Treats sudden nebula formation after eye redness.
Plug the nostrils with Centipeda minima (E Bu Shi Cao, 鹅不食草); recovery is immediate.
Guanyin Mengshou Fang (Guanyin's Dream-Delivered Formula)
Treats internal cataracts and red eyes caused by illness or consumption of salty foods.
Night-shining Sand (Yeming Sha, 夜明砂) [washed clean];
Angelica Root (Danggui, 当归) [remove tail];
Cicada Slough (Chantui, 蝉蜕) [remove feet and wings];
Equisetum (Muzei, 木贼) [remove nodes]. (Each three liang).
Pulverize the above. Use four liang of white ram liver, boil until soft, mash into paste, add the powder, and form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take fifty pills after meals with warm water.
Yanggan Wan (Sheep Liver Pill)
Treats medical nebulae and congenital blindness; vision can be restored after taking this. (See formula mentioned previously.)
Eye Drop Medicine
Treats external nebulae (also known as Pig Gallbladder Formula).

Lu Xianweng Fang (Immortal Lu's Formula)
Effective for internal cataracts.
Raw and Prepared Rehmannia Root (Sheng/Di Huang, 生/熟地黄) [slice and bake];
Sichuan Pepper (Chuanjiao, 川椒) [remove seeds and closed ones, lightly stir-fry].
Equal parts, pulverize, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take fifty pills on an empty stomach with salt water or rice drink.
Single Herb Formula
Excellent for measles/rash entering the eye and for dimness/nebula.
Rooster feces (Zi Bai Fen, 兔粪) roasted and pulverized. Take one dose mixed with good quality tea infusion for relief. Must be taken only after the rash has stabilized.
Chongming San (Double-Brightness Powder)
Treats wind-heat induced external and internal nebulae and qi-eye diseases.
Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix, 独活) [remove rhizome];

Cut into pieces for decoction. Take three qian per dose, decoct with one and a half cups of water, take warm, three times daily after meals and before bed.
Xiao Wu Tuisan (Small Five-Step Dispersing Powder)
Treats internal cataracts.
Cicada Slough (Chantui, 蝉蜕);
Snake Slough (Shetui, 蛇蜕);
Silkworm Paper (Canzhi, 蚕纸);
Black Chicken Eggshell (Wuji Eke, 乌鸡卵壳);
Male Hair (Nan Zi Fa, 男子发).
Charred between layers until carbonized but retaining nature, then pulverized. Take one qian each time, mixed with sheep liver soup, take regularly without fixed time.
Ophiopogon Pill (Maimendong Wan)
Treats internal cataracts.
Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shu Dihuang, 熟地黄);
Ophiopogon Root (Maidong, 麦门冬);
Plantago Seed (Cheqianzi, 车前子).
Equal parts, roast and grind immediately, mix with refined honey to form pills. Take twenty to thirty pills sent down with wine; frequently effective.
Huanjing Wan (Return-to-Vision Pill)
Treats blurry vision and nebulae.

Atractylodes Rhizome (Cangzhu, 苍术) [soak in child's urine for two nights, bake];
Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudihuang, 熟地黄) [wash and bake];

White Tribulus Fruit (Bai Jili, 白蒺藜) [stir-fry, pound to remove spines]. (Each one portion, half raw).
Apricot Kernel (Xingren, 杏仁) [remove skin and tips, bake];
Dodder Seed (Tusizi, 菟丝子) [grind, soak in wine, bake];
Snake Skin (Shepi, 蛇皮) [soak in wine, wash clean, bake];
Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng, 防风) (each five qian).
Pulverize, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of marbles. Chew one pill slowly after meals, send down with weak tea.
Longdan Gao (Gentian Ointment)
Treats long-standing and recent nebulae obscuring vision, pterygium (fleshy growth), red and rotting orbits, dim vision, inability to see light, gritty sensation with excessive tearing, and wind-sensitive tearing. Highly effective.
Calamine (Luganshi, 炉甘石) [quantity unspecified, select pink plum-blossom colored pieces, place in crucible, calcine seven times, quench in Coptis juice seven times];
Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian, 黄连) [wait...];
Gentian Root (Longdancao, 龙胆草) [quantity unspecified, wash clean, sun-dry, avoid fire, finely grind to powder, one qian];
Good Yellow Lead Oxide (Huandan, 黄丹) [sifted, half qian].
Mix the above with four liang of white honey in a purple-black porcelain vessel. Slowly simmer over mild and strong fire, stir with bamboo spatula until dark lacquer-colored and non-sticky.

Treats nebulae.
Yellow Beeswax (Huangla, 黄蜡);
Yellow Lead Oxide (Huandan, 黄丹) [water-triturated, each one liang];
Snake Slough (Shetui, 蛇蜕) [one fen, burn alone];
Mercury (Shuiyin, 水银) [one qian];
Newborn Black Chicken Eggshell (Yisheng Wuji Ke, 初生乌鸡壳) [one piece].
Pound three times with willow wood mallet, drip wax to make cakes. Apply before bed. At dawn, look at water; the medicine falls into the water, and the nebula is completely removed.
Zhaoshui Dan (Water-Shining Pellet)
Miraculous pellet for nebulae.
Cinnabar (Zhusha, 朱砂) [half qian];
Cuttlefish Bone (Haipiaoxiao, 海螵蛸) [one qian].
Grind finely together in a mortar, process with water (float the fine powder), clarify and collect. Melt a small amount of yellow beeswax, mix in the medicine while hot. When needed, roll into pellets the size of radishes.
