Fast-Acting Prescription
For the treatment of sudden death with cyanotic and black abdominal skin. Moxibustion is applied to five locations: half a cun above, below, left, and right of the umbilicus (Shenque, CV8), and one cun below the Jiuwei bone (Jiuwei, CV15). Three moxa cones are burned at each location. Simultaneously, Hu Fen (Lead Carbonate) mixed with wine is applied as a poultice to the abdomen. For sudden severe abdominal distension approaching death, Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) in any quantity is lightly roasted and ground into powder. It is mixed with wine to form pills the size of millet grains. Three to five pills are administered, washed down with light ginger decoction or honey water. For sudden death due to Zhong E (sudden attack by malignant qi/evil pathogens), white parts of Cong Bai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) are inserted into the lower orifice (anus) and nostrils, leading to immediate revival. Alternatively, Chang Pu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) powder is placed under the tongue and blown into both nostrils and ears, which is effective. For poisoning by insects approaching death, a strong decoction of Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) is taken orally, yielding immediate results.
Eyebrow Painting Paste
Zhi Zi (Gardeniae Fructus, three fruits, burnt until carbonized but retaining efficacy), Xiong Huang (Realgar), Zhu Sha (Cinnabar, small amounts of each).
The above ingredients are ground into powder. A small amount of raw clear sesame oil (Qing You) and Qing Fen (Calomel) are added and mixed evenly. When the child falls asleep, apply a thick layer between the two eyebrows. Upon waking, the child will naturally stop breastfeeding. If ineffective, repeat the application.
There are four major categories of Stroke (Zhong Feng): 1. Pian Ku (Hemiplegia), 2. Feng Fei (Wind Paralysis), 3. Feng Yi (Wind Stupor), and 4. Feng Bi (Wind Bi Syndrome). Acute sudden illnesses are mostly related to Wind. In the early stages, symptoms are mild and often unnoticed; therefore, prompt treatment is essential.
Pian Ku (Hemiplegia) is characterized by hemiplegia, where one side of the body cannot move voluntarily and is painful, while speech remains unchanged and intelligence is not confused. The pathology lies between the muscles and flesh. Treatment involves keeping the patient warm in bed to induce sweating and tonifying their righteous Qi.
Feng Fei (Wind Paralysis) presents with no pain in the body, inability to control the four limbs, slight confusion of mind, and faint but intelligible speech. This condition is treatable; if it progresses to muteness, it is untreatable.
Feng Yi (Wind Stupor) manifests as sudden unconsciousness, obstruction in the throat with a suffocating sensation, stiff tongue, and inability to speak. The pathology resides in the Zang-Fu organs, affecting Yin meridians first and Yang meridians subsequently. Treatment involves...
Feng Bi (Wind Bi), Shi Bi (Damp Bi), Zhou Bi (General Bi), Jin Bi (Sinew Bi), Mai Bi (Vessel Bi), Ji Bi (Muscle Bi), Pi Bi (Skin Bi), Gu Bi (Bone Bi), and Bao Bi (Bladder Bi) each have distinct syndromes resembling wind-stroke. They must be differentiated by pulse diagnosis.
Mouth opening indicates the closure of Heart Qi. Enuresis indicates the closure of Kidney Qi. Hands spreading apart indicates the closure of Spleen Qi. Eyes closing indicate the closure of Liver Qi. Snoring indicates the closure of Lung Qi. Possession of all five symptoms renders the condition particularly untreatable. If only one of these five symptoms appears, one must carefully examine other symptoms to guide rescue therapy. Generally, eye-closing is common in the region, and snoring due to phlegm is also frequent. Only the simultaneous occurrence of enuresis and mouth-opening constitutes an ominous sign. The Heart is the sovereign master of the five Zang organs, and the Kidney is the root of the entire body; indeed, it cannot...
