Treats all forms of blood and qi disorders, characterized by cramping and severe pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions, as well as postpartum retention of lochia and pain from the "child pillow" mass (uterine involution pain).
Xuejie (Dragon's Blood), Moyao (Myrrh) (stir-fried in a large pan and finely ground), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (tail removed), Puhuang (Pollinis Typhae), Honghua (Carthami Flos), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Yanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma), Ganqi (Euphorbiae Lathyridis Radix) (stir-fried).
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, before meals, mixed with hot wine.
Treats women and unmarried girls suffering from emotional injury (Seven Emotions), causing stagnation of blood and qi together, resulting in heart and abdominal pain, which may radiate to the waist and hypochondrium or draw pain along the back and spine. Severe spasms and convulsions may occur up and down; irregular menstruation is also present. This formula can be used for all types of blood and qi-related pain.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (rhizome removed, soaked in wine, cut, stir-fried), Yanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma) (stir-fried, hairs removed), Puhuang (Pollinis Typhae) (stir-fried), Chishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Guanguui (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (avoid direct fire exposure, each 0.5 liang).
Cut the above ingredients into coarse pieces for decoction. Take 4 qian per dose, decocted with 1.5 sheng of water and 7 slices of fresh ginger, taken warm before meals. For symptoms of vomiting and reflux, add Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) and Juhong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum), each 0.5 liang.
Treats women and unmarried girls with stagnant menstruation, distending and stabbing pain in the hypochondrium, unbearable pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions, failure of lochia discharge, blood rushing upward to attack the heart, leading to fainting and loss of consciousness. All abdominal pains caused by blood and qi disorders are treated by this formula.
Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), Chishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Peng'ezhu (Curcumae Rhizoma) (stir-fried), Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma) (cut, both roasted/warmed), Liujinu (Artemisiae Annuae Herba) (stalks removed), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) (wine-fried).
Take the aforementioned five herbs, boil them together with one sheng of black soybeans, half a jin of sliced fresh ginger, and four sheng of rice vinegar until the beans are soft. Dry them by baking, then combine with the latter five herbs and process together.
Treats unmarried girls where blood and qi contend and knot within the abdomen, causing stabbing pain that radiates to the epigastrium/heart region, scanty or difficult menstrual flow, or irregular menstruation, resulting in pain.
Juhong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum) (2 liang), Yanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma) (skin removed, boiled in vinegar), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (rhizome removed, soaked in wine, cut, lightly stir-fried, each 1 liang).
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Use wine-boiled rice paste to form pills, sized like wutong seeds. Take 70 pills per dose, increasing to 100 pills if necessary, on an empty stomach, delivered with mugwort tea or rice drink.
