[Eight-Ingredient Powder to Smooth the Qi]
Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Poria (Baifuling, with skin removed), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride (Qingpi, with white pith removed), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Xiangbaizhi), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi, with white pith removed), Pseudostellariae Radix (Tiantai Wuyao), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen) [each 1 liang], Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, honey-fried) [0.5 liang].
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 3 qian per dose, decoct with one large cup of water until reduced to 70%, and take warm at any time. Additionally, dissolve Suhexiang Wan (Styrax Pill) in wine and take alternately.
For individuals prone to wind-stroke, this formula should be taken first, followed by wind-dispelling medicines.

This formula treats sudden wind-stroke with desire to lie down, body flaccidity or spasticity, deviation of mouth and eyes, stiff tongue with inability to speak, mental confusion and restlessness. It is effective for various wind syndromes without causing deficiency.

[Formula for Wind-Stroke Prevention/Treatment]
Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix (Fangji), Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang, with roots and nodes removed, soaked in hot water), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen), Cinnamomi Cortex (Guixin, not roasted over fire), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, honey-fried), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao), Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren, soaked in hot water, skin and tips removed, stir-fried), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) [each 1 liang], Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fuzi, processed, skin and navel removed, 1 piece), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng, with rhizome removed) [1.5 liang].
Cut the above ingredients into small pieces. Take 4 qian per dose, decoct with 1.5 cups of water, seven slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang), and two Jujubae Fructus (Zao), until reduced to 70%. Strain and take warm at any time.

[Formula for Deficiency-Type Wind-Stroke]
Indicated for wind-stroke due to deficiency, with phlegm-saliva obstruction, loss of consciousness, deep and hidden pulse, where cooling medicines are ineffective.
Aconiti Radix (Fuzi, skin removed, raw use), Pinelliae Tuber (Tiannanxing, raw use) [each 1 liang], Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang) [0.5 liang, not roasted over fire].
Cut the above ingredients into small pieces. Take 4 qian per dose, decoct with 2 cups of water and nine slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang), until reduced to 70%. Strain and take warm at any time. For cases with cold accumulation, use processed Fuzi and Tiannanxing; for severe lethargy and cold extremities, add Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix (Chuanwu), named Sansheng Yin (Three-Life Decoction); if ineffective, add Aconiti Radix Lateralis Cum Spongia (Tianxiong), named Sanjian Tang (Three-Buildings Decoction). For phlegm-saliva obstruction with saw-like breathing sounds and inability to swallow medicine, moxa heavily on Guanyuan (CV4) and Dantian (CV12) acupoints for good results.

[Tiger Tibia Wine]
Indicated for hemiplegia nearing death from wind-stroke, wind contraction after exertion, sensation as if struck by ghosts, paralysis of four limbs, inability to walk, and all conditions involving wind-induced spasms and stiffness.
Dendrobii Caulis (Shihu, with roots removed), Photinianae Folium (Shinan Ye), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng, with rhizome removed), Tibia Pantheris Tigridis (Hujingggu, fried with butter), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui, with rhizome removed), Ilicornis Folium (Yinyu Ye), Eucommiae Cortex (Duzhong), Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Chuanniuxi, with rhizome removed), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Cibotii Rhizoma (Jinmao Gouji, burned to remove hairs), Dipsaci Radix (Chuanduan), Morindae Officinalis Radix (Chuanbaji, with core removed) [each 1 liang].
Cut the above ingredients into bean-sized pieces. Place in a silk bag, soak in one dou of alcohol for ten days. Take one zhan per dose, drink warm, at any time.
