The Suwen states: The waist is the mansion of the Kidney; if turning and shaking the waist is difficult, it indicates that the Kidney Qi is about to fail. Examining this statement closely, we know that the Kidneys are connected to the waist. This is often due to excessive sexual desire, and fatigue and injury also lead to Kidney deficiency.
Another discussion states: Waist pain belongs to the Kidney. It is often caused by labor injuring the Kidney, leading to Kidney Qi deficiency, allowing Wind-Cold-Dampness pathogens to invade, and anger, depression, and worry also damage the Kidney.
People nowadays often suffer from waist pain. Regardless of deficiency or excess, they mostly administer drugs like Qian Niu (Pharbitis Seed). They do not realize that the nature of Qian Niu damages Kidney Qi.
Since Kidney Qi has already been damaged, if it is indeed waist pain caused by Qi stagnation, taking one or two doses is acceptable. If there is no effect after taking it, using Ju He (Areca Seed) with warm wine to deliver Xiao Qixiang Wan (Minor Seven Fragments Pill) is best. As the saying goes, "looking beyond the surface," there will be miraculous effects. If it is waist pain due to Kidney deficiency, how could Qian Niu be used? One must be cautious!
