Note: The original prescription above treats Stagnant Fire in the Liver and Gallbladder meridians, resulting in hypochondriac pain, dizziness, epigastric pain centered at the heart region, radiating pain in the scapula, or redness and pain in both eyes extending to the Taiyang meridian. (All the aforementioned symptoms are caused by Liver Fire rushing upward.) It is also suitable for conditions involving the Six Meridians where Yang pulses are observed. For women whose Liver is injured by depression and anger, leading to reckless bleeding, leukorrhea or metrorrhagia with blood, sand-like dysuria, uterine bleeding, and turbid discharge, (all of which are caused by Liver Fire flowing downward), this formula should be used with modifications. The I Ching states: "Wind disperses it." This refers to this formula.
