Traumatic tetanus is often fatal. Use herbs such as Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) and Quanxie (Scorpion). Quanxie (Scorpion) is essential for its ability to unblock collaterals and stop spasms; it cannot be omitted. Grind ten scorpions into powder, mix with wine for administration, three times daily.
Traumatic tetanus involves blood stasis and qi stagnation. Burn crow wings (Yachi) to ash while preserving their medicinal properties, grind finely, and administer one qian mixed with wine.
[Added Formula] For traumatic tetanus accompanied by fever:
Gualouzi (Trichosanthis Fructus, 9 qian), Huashi (Talcum, 1.5 qian), Nanting (Arisaematis Rhizoma), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 1 qian), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Chao Bai (Stir-baked Phellodendri Cortex), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 0.5 fen), Gancao (Licorice Root, a small amount).
Add one slice of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), decoct in water, and take orally.
[Attached Formulas]
Tianma Wan (Gastrodia Pill): Highly effective for traumatic tetanus.
Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix, raw, peeled, 3 qian each), Caowu (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix, raw), Xionghuang (Realgar, 1 qian each).
Grind into powder, make pills with wine paste the size of wutong seeds. Take ten pills each time, washed down with warm wine, at any time.
*Yuanrong* treats severe cases of traumatic tetanus where death seems imminent:
Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix), Nanting (Arisaematis Rhizoma), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, all raw), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma, remove rhizome, equal parts).
Grind into fine powder. Take one qian each time, mixed with Doulinjiu (wine soaked with soybeans), take when slightly warm, followed by drinking three cups of wine.
(Attached: Bullous Impetigo, Frostbite)
For various sores and ulcers with unbearable pain, use bitter-cold herbs added with Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) and Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix). Select root or tip parts based on the location (upper or lower) and add guiding herbs accordingly. Another view states that various sores should be treated with purgation; if the patient is irritable, has a dark and thin complexion, and suffers from blood-heat type pain due to sores, use Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) plus Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Niu Bang Zi (Arctii Fructus), and Gancao (Licorice Root). For lesions in the lower jiao, the qi of the medicine can overcome dampness.
Medicines for various sores:
For pustular sores, focus on clearing heat and drying dampness using Wumingyi (Haematitum).
For dry tinea/soriasis, focus on resolving depression/stagnation using Zhuyu (Evodiae Fructus).
For insect-induced sores resembling tinea, focus on expelling insects using Wuyi (Chrysobalanipomi Fructus), Heigouji (Drynariae Rhizoma), Baifan (Alumen), Xionghuang (Realgar), Liuhuang (Sulfur), and Shuiyin (Hydrargyrum). To kill insects, also use Zhangnao (Borneolum Syntheticum) and Songxiang (Pini Resina). If lesions are mostly on the head, add Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) and Fangjieshi (Calcitum); Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus) stabilizes itching and kills insects; Songpitan (Pinus Bark Charcoal) treats pus. For excessive swelling, add Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) to resolve stagnation; for excessive pain, add Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) and Fangjieshi (Calcitum); for many insects, add Lilu (Veratris Rhizoma) and Banmao (Myodes Blister Beetle); for excessive itching, add Kufan (Burnt Alumen); for scrotal sores, add Zhuyu (Evodiae Fructus); for excessive dampness, mix with Sesame Oil; for dry, itchy, bleeding sores, add Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), mix with Pig Fat; for red color, add Huangdan (Lithargyrum); for blue/green color, add Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis); for many insects, add Xihui (Tin Ash), Wuyi (Chrysobalanipomi Fructus), and Binglang (Arecae Semen). For upper body lesions, take Tongsheng San (Tongsheng Powder) frequently; for lower body lesions, purgation is often necessary. For swollen and bleeding feet, differentiate between damp-heat to prescribe medication.
[Added Formula] There are three types of sores.
Pustular impetigo, treat primarily by clearing heat:
Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 3 qian each), Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus), Hanshuishi (Aqua Calcitae, 3 liang), Huangdan (Lithargyrum, 0.5 qian), Baifan (Alumen, 1 qian), Qingfen (Calomelas), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Wumingyi (Haematitum, a small amount, stir-fried), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, a small amount, used if painful).
Grind into powder, mix with oil, and apply externally.
Sha Chuang (Mumps-like Sores)
Wuyi (Chrysobalanipomi Fructus, 2 qian), Jiancao (Euphorbiae Humifusae Herba, 2 qian), Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus, 3 qian), Ku Baifan (Burnt Alumen), Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, 1 qian each), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Xionghuang (Realgar, 0.5 fen each), Hanshuishi (Aqua Calcitae, 2 qian), Qingfen (Calomelas, 10 sheets/packets).
Grind into powder, mix with oil, and apply externally.
Jie Chuang Yao (Sores Medicine): Spring-onset sores and tinea focus on resolving stagnation; do not scratch open before applying.
Baifan (Alumen, 2 qian), Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus, 2 qian), Zhangnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 0.5 qian), Qingfen (Calomelas, 10 packets), Hanshuishi (Aqua Calcitae, 2.5 qian), Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus, 3 qian), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma).
Another Prescription:
Wuyi (Chrysobalanipomi Fructus), Ku Baifan (Burnt Alumen), Ruangao Shi (Soft Gypsum), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Zhangnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, half liang each, added separately), Guanzhong (Cyathulae Rhizoma), Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus, 1 liang each), Liuhuang (Sulfur), Xionghuang (Realgar, 2.5 qian each).
Grind into powder, mix with Sesame Oil. Must first wash the sore to remove crusts, then apply.
Yi Shang San (One Application Powder)
Xionghuang (Realgar, 3.5 qian), Hanshuishi (Aqua Calcitae, 1 liang), Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus), Baijiaoxiang (Elemi Resin), Heigouji (Drynariae Rhizoma, 1 liang each), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 5 qian), Liuhuang (Sulfur, 3.5 qian), Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus, 3 qian), Ku Baifan (Burnt Alumen, 5 qian), Banmao (Myodes Blister Beetle, 14 pieces, remove wings and feet).
Grind Liuhuang (Sulfur), Xionghuang (Realgar), and Hanshuishi (Aqua Calcitae) separately into powder. Then add Banmao (Myodes Blister Beetle) and mix evenly. Grind Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus) and Gouji (Drynariae Rhizoma) into extremely fine powder and mix together. Wash the sore, let hot water penetrate to remove crusts, mix with lard pig fat, rub warm in palm, smell the odor two or three times, then apply to the lesion. It heals after one application. If pain is severe and swelling is high, double the amount of Shuishí (Water Stone/Hanshuishi); if not itchy, only add Gouji (Drynariae Rhizoma); if slightly itchy, only add Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus); if there are insects in the sore, add Xionghuang (Realgar); if preferring fire roasting or hot water washing, add Liuhuang (Sulfur). Even persistent bad breath can be cured.
